I remember these tapes from Panther. They were terrible. Only a handful of techniques demonstrated from BJJ, Escrima/Kali, and some Muay Thai. He may be a Navy Seal in real life, but the tapes demonsrated a collection of basic techniques from a variety of martial arts.
@Bushvvacker Having your heel down increases rooting, but you can get power through the same process by pushing off the ball of your foot. Most people who do a style that does not teach rooting never learn to do this though.
To me, heel up is ok for distance striking like boxing or TKD, but once you're in close it should go down to keep from getting knocked around.
Also is this JKD? I heard SEALS learned it, and the motions remind me of it a bit.

All you losers are pathetic! This is bullshit. I was in the Navy and knew dozens of SEALs. They are about as good at martial arts as the next guy! They get very little practical fight training. In a street fight, SEALs get their asses kicked as frequently as mess cooks. I've seen it guys, more than once. They are among the best trained commandos in the world, no doubt. But, put the average seal in the ring with just a decent boxer or mma guy. He's get knocked out.

@dienglee second that. served in IDF, infantry sergeant. you don't do a whole lot of hand-to-hand . sure, you do SOME -- just not a lot. what you do is run a lot, crawl through mud a lot, navigate a lot, and shoot a lot -- and usually all of those mixed up. professional soldiers tend to shoot their opponents, not spar with them. hand-to hand skills are very, very specialized in military. who has time to train real hard in something you are unlikely to use?

@JordanJSnyder have you ever even heard of spetsnaz? or sas? and fwi british army regulars are better trained then the navy seals, thats a fact, even american and nato generals agree, in iraq all the major special ops missions where undertaken by the sas, and they where chosen by the comander of all operations, who was an american general, so if your general would rather have sas doing his ops instead of his own men, dont you think there would be a reason?

SEALs all the way. The trainings for spetnaz and SEALs are both extremely difficult except the SEALs don't get the shit beat out if them in training like the spetnaz do to teach them if they r getting the shit beat out of them try to ignore the pain
