Bought mine yesterday, never bought a pistol before. Went by my local gun dealer and he told me about a special he had. Picked up the pistol, new in the box for $289. Bought it home, ran 10 rounds through it and noticed my front sight was loose. So my question is...how do I get it to stay?
The thing I like the most is that it is a quality gun that is (after break in) very reliable and easy to shoot and I can carry it in my car, take it shooting every weekend, put it in and out of a holster, not abuse it but use the hell out of it and not feel like I am I would be wearing out a $700+ gun.
I have owned an older P95 and P97DC. Loved them both.. When this updated version with rail came out I started to drool. After seeing this review...I'm gonna pick one up this weekend! Awesome review!!
@ultimaterich It is an sleeve made by Pachmyer that i bought at Bass pro Shop. ive seen them just about everywhere including cabela's and a well stocked local gun shop. It is kind of a universal type that also fits glocks, Sigs and basically anything else with that size grip. They also have different sizes available and some with holes in them to make it less slick.
It is a great relief to me to hear from someone like you that you had some problems with ammo and it was the ammo's fault. There was one ammo that I tried that came in a 250 bulk pack and it had 10 misfires. It was probably the primer as you mentioned. I tried similar ammo in a 50 pack and it all fired but there were 3 failures to eject. I oiled it and put threw another 100 and it worked flawlessly. Then I had 10 misfires and I was starting to get worried because I don't trust the dealer.
ruger is beat by a glock hands down. glock just makes better guns. rugers are good but not the best and i can tell you like ruger because your one sided for most your reviews
@Mrguns1011 what are you talking about? I own tons of firearms and all for different reasons. I like Rugers due to their affordability, great customer service and they are very tough guns. I own glocks due to the popularity of aftermarket parts, dependability, great trigger reset and quality. I own my M&P's because i feel they are nicer quality than Glocks, have better sights and more comfortable in my hands. Im not a biased gun owner for any one brand, give me a break.
@Mrguns1011 i have tried many different glocks out there and I have hated all of them. Guns come down mostly to the shooter. I mean, Hi points are pretty bad bad parts make a bad gun, but ruger and glock both use quality parts so all it comes down to is the discipline of the shooter. and talking about one sided, you are definitely a glock die hard right?
@foolecoole actually no, i love my springfield xmd but glocks are very light and easy to use. you have to warm up to the style and ruger sr-9's are ok on terms of your every day carry but i had major problems with mine and got a p95. its a better quality firearm but i hit the mag release in "high stress" conditions. we all have prefrences, its to thick for carry. lacks extended slide release and dosnt maximize sight picture. its good but not the best, i own rugers but havent found one i like yet
@runhorun i rate firearms on how they deal with recoil, how they fit my hands and other reasons not how good im with them and to say i cant shoot a firearm very good is childish. go play with your carebears or barbies and for the record xmds is around $600. every firearm has its ideal use and every shooter has their own taste.
thanks for the vid. the p95 is going to be my next gun. i cant believe you have several sigmas. those guns are shit. worst trigger i've ever felt. peace out.
Would you carry this gun with one in the chamber without the safety on? Just curious as I may use this as an open carry weapon for a new line of work. I held one at the store. Was a great quality for the price. Although they are selling for $330 here. And thats everywhere in the state. I mean granted it's a good 9mm for under $350? Ya, I think I will take it!
What are the best mags that fit flush in your opinion because you said someone makes a standard size that holds 17? Actually I don't even own a p95 but my 12 year old nephew was bought one by his father to maybe concealed carry when he's older and he's always saying he hates getting cash as a gift so some shooting accessories should do great. A brand name would be helpful.
@gottadubit It is a Mecgar 17rd mag that i got from Bass Pro Shop. I usually don't invest in Mecgar since ive had some bad 1911 mags but this one is working just fine after about 1,200 rounds
Hi Joe Just subed. Left a msg on your Styer vid. I have a P95 - great gun for the $. I also have 2 sigmas & they really suck. There is this guy in Texas Smith & Wesson & if you contact him & tell him the trigger is "gritty" - your sigma is covered with a lifetime warranty for things like that. I sent mine to him & he smoothed it out the best he could or the best he was willing to do BUT the trigger still sucks. I replaced the stiker spring & I got light hits-keep it stock. Sincerely,JAMES.
WHen i bought this, the Ruger SR9 was not out yet. I now own the SR9 and SR9c. I still think dollar for dollar the P-95 is the better gun. The SR9's are fantastic too but bang for the buck the p95 is in a league of its own in my opinion
@mikemikemikexxxx I have many guns :) and i also own the SR9c and the full size SR40. Although they are great guns as well, i think they have a long way to go to truly compare with the old school P series Rugers. They will probably achieve the same level of respect in due time.
It has its advantages... Shares some glock parts, its dependable and a lot slimmer than the p-95. I still think the P-95 is the better gun but for CCW id rather wear a Sigma. I own 3 sigmas and they are 100% dependable too.
@stchman , sigmas are teeerrrrible...jamming history on the ones i have researched too...it's like Ruger CAN make a a affordable banger (one that really is a king in it's category), but Smitty couldn't produce a quality piece AT THAT PRICE....they make great handguns but at this price point 300-400$ you can't beat this gun...hell for 500-600$ you would be hard pressed finding a more reliable or accurate pistol...Ruger is King in the game of "bang for your buck"..
@stchman i have a sigma 40 and p95 the sigma just take off the pigtail spring and they r great but the p95 has a double single trigger thats the one thing that in my opinon makes this gun so much better and for the money no one has a double single trigger
Does the trigger have to move all the way forward to reset in single action mode? A friend has an older P85 and I noticed there is no short reset for the trigger after the action cycles.
if i may ask, and you may share, where did you find the flush fitting 17 rounders? it came with 2 mags as normal. i've purchased an additional 15 rounder so 46 rounds (3 mags+1) isnt too shabby however, if i can get 52 rounds out of the same set up... WHY NOT! Thankz for the review! happy shooting!
the reason i ask.. all the 17 rounders i've found dont state they are for the p95 but like the 89 so i dont want to waste the money and they not fit it.. thanks again
The flush fitting 17rounder is a Mec-Gar 17rd mag that is the same as the Ruger P85, P89, P93, P94, P95, PC9. It has performed 100% flawlessly and trust my life to it. I think it was $25 at Bass Pro Shop.
@dreamz20091 really all 9mm luger work thru this thing.. i've shot everything thru mine.. even the TULAMMO cheap stuff from russia with the steel casings. and it cycled it all just fine.. it's alos plus P rated! this thing goes bang everytime! 1150 rounds thru mine and only 2 malfunctions and even with that i was spitting out rounds in under 3 seconds.. so even in a firefight i'd still have continuous fire! GREAT FIREARM!
i love that gun! its awesome and for the price...how could i lose.i coulda bought 3 of those for what i paid for my kimber raptor not that i regret any of my gun purchases but that is an awesome pistol great video!
Just looked at one of these in a gun shop and think it's going to be my first purchase. Thanks for the review
