Good player but not really historic which who should be in the HOF. He a 2 great seasons surrounded by a lot of good. He's 4th all time rushing but hes also 3rd in carries. Barry, O.J, DOrsett, DIckerson, Jim Brown, payton.....Martin? Hes just not in that class.
Curtis Martin was the most underrated running backs. His style was north and south, he never seemed to lose yards. He deserves to be in the HOF. 13 years consecutive with a 1,000 yards, 176 consecutive games, 7 Pro Bowls. You better give that man his props!!!
Good old Curtis Martin. I'm 18 and been a Jets fan for quite awhile now..since the Testaverde days. I was lucky enough to watch Curtis Martin on tv live his last years before his injury. My favorite RB and JET ever. He did all the dirty work and got the job done consistently. Much like Thomas Jones years as a Jet they never received the credit they deserved for going in and doing what they were being paid for and loved to do.
I've been a Niner fan all my life, but this man was/ is great. As a kid, along with my Garrison Hearst jersey, I had a Curtis Martin NY Jets jersey. Would always wear it when playing in the park.
I think one reason Curtis doesn't get more recognition is because he never broke off huge runs. Who needs that anyway. Rather beat the shit out of a defense with long punishing drives...making defenders miss and have to chase him down was quite exhausting.
Martin is such an underrated running back because he wasn't about running people over or breaking peoples ankles with his flashy moves during an era of football when you only made it on the highlight films when you did that. No one remembers his 4 years per carry and 100 touchdowns.

curtis martin should be on hear. possibly the most underrated running back of all time. 4th all time in rushing yards, a sure future hall of famer, most yards rushing in 2004, 5 time probowler, rookie of the year, 100 touchdowns, over 17,500 yards(rushing+recieving) and tied barry sanders for the record of having 10 straight 1000 yd seasons. if it wasnt for his knee injuries, he couldve played 2-3 more years and could be 2 or 3 on the alltime rushing list yet he gets no recognition from anyone.
