    Try it loose. I think that if u just loose then handle it works with the handle as well but just loosen it AND using rubber band will make it very smooth and close to perfect

  • This tip did not work on my cheap but decent tripod. My hand can pan better actually and I'm quite disappointed about that.

  • @poodledude100 I does only work on tripods which provide some damping. No damping => no smooth moves.

  • what works really fine with a DSLR is actually filming very wide. than in your editing program zoom into the video and pan it with keyframing

  • @OrsonMyles That doesn't work as well unless you want the effect of a binocular lens. It sounds ok in theory, but when you watch back, the results can sometimes be obvious.

    For a wide angle panning, if you look at the shadow on the grass, when the camera turns, the shadow changes because the horizon line and feild of view moves, if you were keyframing a wide angle photo, those line wouldn't move giving you the appearance of either telephoto, or the whole camera moving vertical and horizontal.

  • dam, i've been taking apart fan's, buyig some logic boards from radio shack, getting some transformers a other memory chips.. Programing them from my computer... Then adding them with than eeprom programer... and then making those shots.... and all i had to do with get a rubber... WOW just simply WOW... I've been using rubbers and didn't know i can use them like this... hahahahah jP
