You, my friend, are an idiot. Where do you think the fish you have in fish tanks to "breed em" came from. Do you think they "surrendered" and were taken hostage? LOL
We bring back fry. In the wild less than one percent of the wild fry from a spawning pair actually make it to maturity. It's only because many like me and MANY before me have brought them FROM the wild that they are alive in the hobby.
can anyone tell me where in mexico is there a place like that river they were in were its just nature and not a park or anything that we could just go in and catch fish????? names of cities plzz
i want to know, is it possible to join the collection groups as sort of a holiday type thing? ive always been fascinated by fish collection and especially american cichlids and am hoping to get in touch on the GBR as i live in aus, and have both african cichlids and saltwater tanks. thanks in advance, hope that theres some way of getting in touch with you guys and possibly spending a week there if yous are in assosciation with the collectors.
i dont have americans, only africans but in my 6 months of fish keeping ive become knowledgable from reading forums and finding all the info ive needed from others and their experiences and books.
if you wish for your convicts to stop eating your fry, first off if they are only young say less then a year old, wait it out, as they mature they will most likely gain maternal insticts, also if you wish you could remove the male as he is usually the perpertrator, and of course you could remove both male and female which is the usual method,
No photo of the undescribed swordtail?

I wasn't even aware that there was one. Livebearers isn't my thing. I do have some pictures of the Montezuma Swordtail.

This is very cool. I hope to make a trip like this one day, although my quarry are the smaller mollies and swordtails.
