I was from a large family and I loved it! My siblings and I are still very close. People don't understand the real value of things. The most valuable things in my life are my children and husband. How can you put possesions before that? Having these people in my life is worth whatever sacrifices I have to make. I only have three children.. and if it would have been possible I would have had more.

It just seems that the older girls have more responsibilities than the boys do, I know the boys help with building things and that stuff but its not like they do that stuff everyday. The girls it seems are constantly in charge of the little kids, laundry and cooking (which for the duggars is like a 24 hour thing)

Yep. It sucks being a girl. Boys have more muscle strength yet we get to carry the babies and toddlers around and do the laundry.

My money bet would be that the few older Duggar boys are out learning/developing the skills to support the families that they wish to have someday - just like the oldest, Josh, did. He was well settled and ready for the responsibility of providing for his wife well before they were married.

I feel so sad for these kids. In reality they won't get enough attention as compare to a family that only have 3 or 4 kids. I have 3 other siblings and I did enjoy when my parents gave one on one attention to me.

Michelle also took care of them when Jim Bob took the older ones off to a foreign country to build an orphanage, and when Jim Bob took the older girls off camping I think it was, and when the girls and Josh went to FL to help Anna make the dresses for the wedding. Each time the 'older' girls were gone for at least a week sometimes longer....

They get MORE attention than your average family would get. When mom is busy they have 13-14 older siblings to go to for comfort and love. When I nannied in the early 90's for a family of 4 The parents spent more time at work and out 'networking' than they spent with their own children. I got them out of bed, fed them, took them to and from school and most nights put them to bed. On the weekends the parent's would pay me extra to watch them while they went 'out'.... THAT'S SAD

I am not againts giving kids chores or help out around the house, but for a family to have 19 kids the older children are OBLIGATED to baby sit the younger ones. That is not what I call chores. Now, watching your sibling for 10 mins while mommy is taking a quick shower is fine, but I doubt if that's what the older kid's "chores" are.

All the kids down to the ones that can walk and talk fairly well help out around the house and since there are more and more in the 'older' category (8 and above) there would be less work for ONE person. If each child (I don't know for a fact they do) simply picked up their own toys and took their own laundry to the laundry room, cleaned the sink after brushing their teeth ect... there is less overall work for the 'older' ones to do.

In several videos I have seen children other than the older girls doing household chores. I have seen her ask a boy (don't remember the name, but it wasn't Josh or John David) to bring down the laundry.

I also hate the fact that her older children take care of the young ones and the other kids cook and make food and do most of the chores while the parents sit back a relax. There kids also act werid, considering I only watched this show 6 times. I remimber one show where the family volinteerd to go to a small zoo and feed the animals. (?) there someone drove a truck filled with bread and the kids were playing and throwing bread at each other and making a mess.

Respectfully, They still live a lifestyle above and beyond 90% of the world. Only 2% of people in the world own their homes. Over 50% of indiviuals in the world make under $365 a year. So, your argument doesn't quite work when you try to say that they are somehow deprived, or don't live a good/great life. "They can't take care of the kids?" Please validate how the children show any signs if distress or not being taken care of.

My point is that there are no signs that they are in any way deprived, they function very well within their family system and within society. Their oldest son has been very successful, graduating at 16 and starting his own business at 18 among other entrepreneurial endeavors. They are smart enough NOT to work regular jobs, they have their own businesses.....lol....even without the show, they were still debt free and living just fine and happy. The tv show is one part of their income.

The never said tv is a sin, they rarely allow thier children to watch tv because of content, they also have the internet but it's strictly monitored. All parents should monitor thier childrens internet use anyway.

Mr. Dugger has been in real estate for 25 yrs and owns several commercial real estate buildings he rents out, they did fine before TLC financially. I'm sure the show allows more opportunities but unlike Jon and Kate (plus 8) they were able to support thier children withoutit.

I like this family. I don't care how many kids they have. It's their business and from what I can see, they seem well-adjusted and all around nice people.

When Jim Bob and Michelle speak they speak with integrity and respect. I am blessed that I have parents who are similar that respect.

Are these people perfect? No. Is my famly perfect? No. Is anyone perfect? No! I find that this show is refreshing and yes, I share a common faith but that doesn't make me any better than anyone who posts here.

Simple as that (unless you have something wrong with your reproductive system that makes it hard to get pregnant naturally) No god is involved in that. That's just the way the woman's reproductive system works.

My parents (I used to be) are Southern Baptists (stricter than just Baptists) and they danced at their wedding. My parents Southern Baptists church condones dancing. Dancing with your new spouse is not a sin. The Duggars are way too strict.

People need to realize before they get all upset because opinions differ from theirs that noone truly believes people are this happy 24 hours, also they are making a load of money to parade around camera for a couple of hours and tell us how beautiful their life is. The mother is my only problem because I have girls and I want them to be more than a mother and more than a maid, I would really prefer them to have a life and go to college and then get married and have kids.

I think it is that they seem to follow all of the repressive beliefs that people fought so hard to break free from. Most notable the traditional family role, treating women like brood mares, blind devotion to a god, and being socially isolative (cult-like) through home-schooling. It can be seen as abuse to some.

That is so rude and false, lol....as long as you take care of yourself down there everything goes back to normal after pregnancy. Of course some issues can happen that cause you to have a weaker bladder, etc. but over all you can manage just fine and kegals are a wonderful thing to work on to keep the vaginal walls strong during and after labor. This is what our bodies were made to do-create, carry and deliver life...some women even getting "tighter" after childbirth. JUST AN FYI. =)
