Optimist! It would only be national news IF the trial had occurred already and it was proven true. Otherwise, it's just conjecture, even if there's actually legal charges involved, which there probably isn't. How are you going to be able prove something like that in a court of law, unless you were actually prepared for the act and caught it in the act?

When I was nine, if I did this and got "zapped" I would certainly not run home and TELL MY DAD I DID IT!!
He would kick my ass all the way back to the neighbor's house to apologize and then I would be grounded for a month for Disrespecting someone else's property. Actions have consequences. This will turn out to be a great lesson for the kid. I'm just glad it's on tape to show the small (yet no doubt, surprising) jolt, or it would have been "Man Electrocutes Child Over Political Signs"

I'm just glad the kid's ok. Could have been worse, could have been like that other Republican thug putting razor blades in his signs in 2006 (signs he was illegally putting on other people's property, too). The poor woman who went to remove it from her yard got cut up pretty bad.
