  • This made me cry. So relaxing. So beautiful. So peaceful.

  • This touches my soul and heart... This is why I love Chinese music so much...

  • This erhu classic melody composed by poor street musician is featured in many sad scene in 1950s HongKong cantonese movies. Here Song Fei a erhu masterclass perform it so well it move me to tears everytime I hear it. I'm die hard fan of Beatles and a fan of all great musicals.Thks for great music that touch our souls and inner feeling.

  • Esta melodía es hermosa. En verdad llega al alma :)

  • This is a piece of sad music.

It reflects on our inner feeling.

No matter what nationalities we belong, the colour of our blood is still red

We all feel the same pain and sorrow when our loved ones are hurt.

So why not we all live in peace and avoid such sorrow, if not for ourselves at least for our children's sake

  • What the heck do Beatles have to do with this? And how can one nations music outperform esthetically I am not taking away any of china's rich music culture. I am only stating that before western colonialism Chinese melody lines were played more or less free form and would rarely have harmonic structures added to the melody. The instruments would play in parallel octaves in an ensemble rather than creating chord structures. Ask any music historian and they will back me up on this.

  • @RonaldR2007

Read Johanna Namminga 'The hybridization of Western and Chinese music' if you really want to understand where music like this is coming from.

And a little civility goes a long way.... even on the internet.

  • I don't understand...how is this music English?

  • This style of traditional Chinese music predates Ralph Vaughn Williams by hundreds of years and this particular composer lived at the same time as RVW.

  • This is one of my favorite songs on the earth.

  • @FlingNdirt Please keep the beatles, the rolling stones and all the musical gas the uk has produced and insert it deep where it belongs i.e. your asshole and leave alone the great chinese composer 华彦钧, Huà Yànjūn. Btw I'm not asian, I'm not talking out of national pride. The very few I've discovered of Chinese traditional music outperforms esthetically most western music, even italian and german!

I played the violing all my life and I've loved and admired the italians but this is far superior

  • Comment removed

  • @FlingNdirt Err...no.

I think you might need to get away from Western music for a while and learn to appreciate and respect Eastern music for what they are...and no, the West does not influence everything despite what you might think.

  • @AAMLfan

I do not think the west influences everything. I never said that nor do i think it. Yànjūn Huà had definitely listened to many European phonographs of the old masters. And he lived in a time of great western influence on china (belive it or not) that is fact. There were some nationalist composers that felt strongly that other nations should never `defile the mother land` but they were not the majority and Yànjūn Huà was not one of them for sure.

  • @FlingNdirt This music dates back to the Song Dynasty, Tang Dynasty... I don't think King Arthur even exist during that time.

  • @FlingNdirt i give you a 1/10 kid

  • great music,

  • long live china. the heart of asian culture and civilization.

  • the composer of this piece was dead in 1950 he was a blind man and suffered a lot. even though he couldn't see the world, he feel the world by heart. it's touching, always.

  • To listen to this is to feel free. It is potentially subversive. What is the party line on this music?

  • I like it very much.....And I love China!!

  • This masterpiece of traditional China music is mesmerising. The main anchor artist playing the instrument is graceful in each and every moment. Heart goes out of its way. Gigantic melody which shows the capability of people of China. Best wishes.

  • beautiful!

  • Moving and yet grandiose! Expansive music, to say the least! If it starts in a plaintive tone, it surely goes quickly into an assertive but still speculative mode, and becomes uplifting! Such a well orchestrated composition! Both the ErHu and the dizi, not to forget the other artists, are just great! Thanks for posting!

  • who is the lady playing 扬琴 with long hair?

  • @magdalene512 Her name is Chen Xiang Yang. :)

  • @fluorescence

  • @fluorescence no, it's not, she is Song Fei(宋飞), very famous ErHu player.

  • Beutiful if there is a word express the feeling

  • Just epic god bless the China Central Chinese Orchestra

  • I almost felt pain in my chest while listening to this, so melancholic yet agreeable...

  • 宋飛老師 absolutely beautiful---------Bravo, Bravo and Bravo !!!!!

  • she played every notes perfectly!!!

  • Salute to all the instrumentalists of the great China Central Chinese Orchestra Particularly to 宋飞 and the flutist.

  • @chantiatwhy

    does she have a website?

  • Does anyone know what is on her erhu? Its like by her fine tuners and is long and metal? Never seen it before

Great music - composed by a blind street-musician.

Tribute to the great China Central Chinese Orchestra.

  • This is the best orchestra performance of this piece ever.

  • The original composer ArBin (Hua Yan Jun) played this tune, which recorded in 1950. Copy and Paste this word 阿炳絕響二泉映月 in Youtube.

    Enjoy!

  • I became touched and tears after knowing this song was composed by a blind street-musician (Hua Yan Jun) from Wuxi, China.

Died at 57 (1950), his songs were then revealed. Fortunately he recorded few of it and you can search in Youtube, the original tune played by him in 1950, months before he passed away. (of course, not expecting high recording quality during those days.)

  • like it very much.

  • My tears flow slightly.... very touching song from the Chinese.

  • Niko or Piano is best !!

  • beautiful!!! this is my favorite song on the erhu!! it's so beatiful and calming!!!

  • Lived and wise people! And the 'erhuist' is a pure expression of beauty!

  • She manages to draw out the mournful tone of this piece with finesse and an astounding sense of tone and speed.

  • Well, folks, Sung, indeed, is the captain of modern day Chinese erho. Behold at her magnificent manners and confidence!

  • It was reported that the composer was born blind. He learned various instruments, and played on the streets to collect donation for living.

  • It's not "reported", it's a known fact

  • he was not born blind. he became blind later due to eye disease.

  • The composer was not born blind. And that added even more tragity to his bitter life.

Erhu and Orchestra "Reflections of the Moon on the Water of Erquan" Composed by Hua Yan Jun Arranged by Wang Zu Jie Soloist: Song Fei China Central Chinese Orchestra Conductor: Chen Xie Yang Category: Music Tags: erhu solo china music song fei central chinese orchestra concert

  • You need a deeper soul to understand the deep sorrow. Make peace with our sufferings, the true peace and joy will come.

  • la so la mi do rue...

  • if you want to truly enjoy the spirit of this song, it's better to play in solo without the noise from the band, though the band appears to enhance the emotion, but in fact they just degrade. the instrument is called "erhu" which mimics human's voice (to be more exact, human's weep)

  • If play this in solo ,it is such a sad song that it will made you feel sad too.

  • yes, the song is meant to be sad. it's not a hilarious song

  • I did listen a solo version. I don't agree with you, and I still think this orchestra version is better

  • If music is the food of love, play on.

  • Sad music can be so beautiful

  • Very emotinal.

  • beautiful!

  • cool! whatever you wrote i dn't understand but I recognize "感動" and "幸福" =)

  • @pinpono843 中国 no myujiku wa 美 desu ne!

  • @McRoberts1000 擦,this is china music ...my english is poor .my is erhu teach...

  • @McRoberts1000

Get your fact straight, please. This is Chinese music.

  • @pinpono843 although I cannot understand every words in Japanese of you saying, I cannot guess from the Chinese characters in your Japanese(quite convinient, right? haha.although sometimes misleading, e.g 大丈夫) I agree with your idea. I am a Chinese. To be honesty, both the Chinese and Japanese cultures have many high points.(I hope my Chinese fellows who r rational, no matter u r anti-Japan or not, at least admit this). I personally wish peace between the two countries in east asia.

  • @angher2010

To the Chinese friend that thank you Your comment was good and was able to understand. The friendship begins in this way.

  • @pinpono843 It is nice to have people like you in Japan, which is the base of good relationship between Japan and China. Although I am not fully optimistic with the complete elimination of possibility of war between Japan and China, I firmly agree we should take every chance, such as cultural communication, to enhance the friendship between Japanese and Chinese. This is the best way to prevent war which is extremly harmful to both countries. Better to have neighbours to be friends than enimies.

  • @pinpono843 just heart of the earth quake in Japan causing Tsunami. wish everything is fine with your family if you are in the area affected.

  • @pinpono843 go on....I guess most ordinary Japanese people share the same wish as mine. But the bitter history and more importantly the current situation of Japan's territory claim on Fishing Island and continuing worship 靖国神社 do cause trouble and reduced the trust. Still I wish pease, because war is the really anti-humanility and caused great pain to both sides. No one actually wins except Satan. But we have to be cautious the possibility of war between us. But wish true peace realized one day

  • MUSICA DEL CIELO, FELICIDADES

  • A nation will rise whose musc shows such emotional depth and range.

  • u think so?

  • A nation? Every one of us has such emotional range an depth. Every single one of us understands the language of music.

  • @Redbaron011

Well, thanks! Music that deals with empathy with past or present occurrences is part of our cultural continuity and the underlying joy, pains or frustrations are not an individual invention though the expressions belong to the artists' creative ingenuity. The sentiments related to the music are prevalent in China!

  • May I ask where was this performance? I looks like the golden hall in Vienna. If it is, it would be good news. Sharing music with the rest of the world is a definite step forward.

  • This is the music hall at Beijing, China. Looks very nice. I want to see it next month.

  • david1234lee , looking at the european audience and indications from the other postings of the same concert by the orchestra, are u sure this concert was at Beijing and not the Vienna golden hall?

  • I am 100% sure! This place host lots of other events including Chinese opera.

  • i believe it is the golden hall

  • Isn't she considered one of China's living National treasures?

  • Yes, she is! She and Yu hung-mei are the two best!

  • Willaim, I like Yu Hung mei very much. But Sung Fe is the captain of the whole team of modern-day Chinese erho players. Not only is she totally absorbed in and by her art, she possesses the nonverbal air of a leader. She is distant but not aloof; commanding but inclusive; nonchalant and yet full of passion! I worship her and I listen to her daily!!!

Are you the same guy at " I love China"?

We were comarades there! Haha! I know Dima from Taichi class!
