  • can you please tell me how to record a guitar video using your webcam.. I have been trying to figure out how to use my webcam on my macbook and record with it but using my us 144 interface. Im using logic express as my guitar amp as well.

  • @varone6t9 use iMovie to record the webcam video, then replace the audio with the one recorded (and exported) from Logic Express.

  • @floditaly I'm still confused though.. so I record the video of me playing, n then i make a separate track for audio and try to put it together?

  • @varone6t9 exactly

  • @floditaly Sorry man but i tried doing that and it sounds like shit for some reason... i did a recording of myself playing like u said and then i tried putting the audio track in and still its messed up. not trying to get mad or anything but its frustrating the fuck outa me. please help me if u can.

  • Are you using a custom IR or is this a stock amp/cab?

  • @jbealsmusic Almost sure it was stock ;-)

  • Hello, Nice clip. Can I ask you what usb interface you used? greetings,

  • @dcboogie USB output from the unit itself ;-)

  • I love it when people are are badass players but they say don't look at the crappy playing, I hate you!!!!! J\K good job

  • Hi there, I wanted to ask a few things about this processor, because I'm thinking of buying it. Where do you put it? I don't have any rack and I need this for better quality effects and direct recording, is it good for that? And is a power conditioner necessary? What is your overall opinion about this unit?

  • @YearsBecomeDays I used to own a full rack, so I could use it with a power amp (Marshall 8008, solid state). Now it's in a 4 unit rack alone with a G-Major (used in the effect loop of a Blackstar HT-5H), I use it only to record and I'll probably sell it at some point (I don't play/record very much lately). No need to have a power conditioner. Don't buy it new, install the beta firmware and you'll be happy for the price if your aim is to record. The only alternatives for the price are Line6 PODs.

  • @floditaly

So can I just put it on a table or a shelf? I suppose if I'm not planning to move it much, it would be safe there? Don't feel like spending a fortune on a unit rack.

P.S. Awesome vid and thanks a lot for the quick response!

  • @YearsBecomeDays yes, definitely no problem with keeping it on a table ;-)

  • @floditaly

ok, thanks again and good luck!

  • Nice guitar man!! sweet sound indeed. Whats your take on that preamp?. I was just reading that glen tipton actually uses this 1101 for live and studio.Do you know if this is really true? is this unit that good? "NO TUBES"??. Nice to hear some opinions on this. ???????????????

  • @dewycatt2112 it's really good for the price, but you have to install the non official firmware since Digitech is not caring very much about this product. In studio it's probably easier to find an Axe FX (but it costs at least 4x in Europe)

  • Great demo and playing.

  • Nice playing. nice guitar. like ur style even though i play a totally different style of playing. Im a metalcore type person. Modern Metal type stuff. but i also love sittin at home just jammin around to the classic rock tones. I love it man. Kepp on rockin and thanks for the video. If you could can i get ur settings of what ur playing on cuzz the tone is out of this world :P.

  • @nathanhyatt1980 Thanks man, I'll try to do a screenshot of the software with all the settings (as it says in the patch description, it's an amp simulation based on a Mark IV).

  • what is name of the song?? please!!

  • @juanperez0505 (sort of) Damage Control (John Petrucci), Satch Boogie (Joe Satriani)

  • @floditaly thanks!!

  • exelent sound, but the hp special ex, have the same sound??

  • @juanperez0505 Sorry, no idea about that (I hope not, considering how much you pay for the US ;-) )

  • @floditaly i guess, this guitar have floyd rose, coil special pickups and, have a question, the pure maple mast , makes the diference with respect to the rosewood mast???

  • This sounds a lot more natural and amp like direct vs line 6's supposed be all end all pod hd500. Thanks for the demo going direct. How's this feel dynamically vs an amp especially the ones modeled? Thanks!

  • @bresan79 Dynamic is not that bad, what I really miss compared to a real amp is the possibility to clean the tone with the volume control on my guitar (moving from distortion to crunch to almost clean without changing channel).

  • @floditaly rosewood/maple makes a lot of difference in terms of sound, both in the neck and the body. Search "Guitar Wood Types & Tones FAQ" on Google (I can't put a link here)

  • sure sounds good!!

  • Nice playing mate!

  • Very nice tone, now I am waat to change my pod xtl for a digitech gsp1101!!!!

  • I JUST GOT A USB GUITAR LINK CABLE BUT EVERY TIME I PLUG IT INTO GARAGEBAND IT DOESNT MAKE ANY NOISE PLEASE HELP!!!

  • wow! who needs valves

  • Sounds like your a Van Halen fan?

  • @alexbeast14 I love Van Halen's sound, but I wouldn't define me as a fan (more a fan of Satriani/Vai/etc ;-) )

  • @floditaly

oO Van Halen ?! Those are John Petrucci and Joe Satriani covers !

  • @chinoisrhcp Ehm... I know, I was playing them ;-) (Damage Control, Satch Boogie)

  • can you multi track that in garage band using other instruments/tracks?

  • @RasputinsFate Garage Band is multitracking by default. So yes, you can record multiple instruments on separate tracks and mix them (it's very simple to use but quite complete for amateur needs).

  • Gotta say that tone was amazing, AMAZING!

  • I'm diggin the Peavy HP. On their web page the black looks like a flat not gloss black...but yours is clearly gloss. What do you think about it?

  • @ronin2167 My guitar is a Special CT USA (carved top, not flat) and it's glossy (see this photo flickr.com/photos/flod/3515543190/in/set-72157603278821680/).

IIRC, when I bought it, there was also a Special USA and I think it was glossy as well. I don't know for the Special EX. If you're asking an opinion on the guitar, I answered in a previous comment (great, but there are good alternatives for the price), honestly I don't like it black, consider the beauty of the wood below ;-)

  • @floditaly I had a Wolfgang clone built for me recently by Scott Fletcher. It's Emerald green burst on quilt maple with a birdseye maple neck. I like the Peavy's too and was inquiring about it. They use to have a custom shop. He does EVH musicman clones as well...I think that's next on my list.

  • Damage Control. Awesome.

  • This is curious... i programmed that patch a few months ago. Sounds better than i remember... after all this melodramatic arguments and empty promises from the digitech people about an official firmware update (which probably will never be released), i just promised myself not to upload anything i program or discover on the gsp. After seeing that you actually used the patch i think i will be posting again. You can check on the forum a few other petrucci sound patches... regards.

  • @psycofdo thanks for your work :-) I don't like this patch to play through my amp, but it's almost perfect to record.

I perfectly understand how you feel about Digitech (right now I don't have my unit, since it's being repaired for the well-known problem with the earphones output): it's funny to see how Digitech created a good product, probably better than they thought, and they're doing everything to piss people off.

  • @floditaly exactly the idea for the patch, direct recording. When you get back your gsp try the other petrucci patches... after a few experiments with eq and help from singtall there are a few patches also good for recording. For playing through an amp it depends on hoy the amp works, speakers, and if you are running the gsp on the front or loop of your amp. I'm trying to get close to the sound of dream theater's BCSL (running in front of the amp), so i'll be posting those patches soon.

  • Excuse me a quick question , would you say that Digitech GSP 1101 would be better than Boss or Pod X3 Live ?, have you tried them ?,

  • @thunderingrick Honestly I've never tried other amp simulators. I bought this one because I like the rack format and I found it used in a store (and Pod X3 Pro was way too expensive). If you need a pedal board, the X3 live sounds like a good option

  • what a great sound, very nice tone !!!!

  • @thunderingrick thanks :-)

  • Thanks, it's great for direct recording, but through speakers it has too much bass. After some tweaking finally got the usable JP's tone.

  • I want to buy a Peavey HP Special EX... have you any recommendations??? btw, great sound!!! :D greets

  • @Dojadilomi It's a great guitar, with woods and quality finishes that you can find in guitars like a PRS, but with this kind of budget you can choose among a lot of guitars (signature Ibanez, Music Man, etc).

My personal suggestion is to go to the biggest shop near you and try a lot of guitars, possibly with your amp or a similar setup. When I bought this one, I knew only how much I could spend: I was thinking about a Jem 7VWH, but then I saw (and tried) this one and nothing else mattered :-)

  • Cool, pretty damn close to JP's tone! What are your settings, are you using Dual Recto or Mark IV model?

  • @DanVAVT It's a Mark IV and you can find the patch on Digitech's library. I'm adding the link to the description of this video, since I'm unable to do it in this comment :-\

  • sounds pretty good for a USB line in!

  • @fixthafernback Yes, and it sounds a lot better as an USB line in than in my current rack (gsp1101 + BBE 482 + Marshall 8008 + Marshall 1936)

  • Non hai idea di quanto io ti invidi la capacità di suonare così! Bravo!!! :D
