I am finding that many people are commenting and saying"how could this have happened?" and what a tragedy the holocaust was. To think that humans can do this is heartbreaking. I want all the people who feel the same sadness and outrage for what happened to the Jewish people to realize that the same thing is happening today in countries like Darfur, Burma, and the Congo. Geoncide is preventable and it can be stopped with your help and the governent's. Let us not repeat the past!
I got the book from the library two weeks ago. I read it in two hours. It was THAT good. I saw the movie before I read the book, but I liked the book better. Because if you had absolutely no idea what the Holocaust was, or you hadn't seen the movie, you wouldn't have understood the book. Thats one amazing book... And the movie is great too. It's definitely something I'll never forget... Something I would recommend to everyone miles around.
touching movie, and amazing book, the book explains that after an year when the red army came to liberate the Auschwitz his father still didn't know, but once his dad was exploring the camp and saw that his clothe, were there. And he put the pieces together, and found out his son died in the chamber.
The same James Horner people accuse of being a Garbage composer, who recycles and re-uses all his own work, and call him unoriginal and lazy, and unworthy to be paid to write music.
To those people I present them with "The Boy in The Striped Pyjamas" The movie score alone, that brought tears to my eyes after watching the film. Lets see them do that with music!
This score was composed by James Horner. The same James Horner people accuse of being a garbage composer of copying his own scores and recycling all his work, claiming that he is lazy and can't come up with anything on his own.

The ending of this movie was so sad and things like this actually happened. I just got the book and I am about 1/4 through with it and I like it so far. I cried at the end, and at the parts where they were mistreating the Jew that worked at the house peeling potatoes.
maybe hes dad was tried tto pretevt him from the evil deeds he does
& it is said in history that after the holocouats some germans decided that what happened to the jews wasnt real, even if it wehere proof pointing to that
soo, in a way it could be that the dad tough the little boy that or that he just kneww but it was so horribe he decided not to belive it
and i know it isnt real, (i mean the actual killing of jews was i know that, but the actors didnt die) but i really badly wanted to cry at the end, and i dont cry at anything ! :'( so sad
when this osng reached its high point, in the movie they show were the stop slaming the door and everything is quiet and al i could think about is, are they still holding hands? were the looking for each other in the quaos? were the trapled to death? anbd hwne i heard the mum scream i cried for leiek 3 hr staight!
@7thNCtrooper2 pardon ME but I didn't say anything about that. I asked about sheet music. Maybeu should check who said stuff before accusing them for something.
I loved the music in the movie but I hated the movie. It was a great plot but SO contradictory to... Being realistic. The boy's oblivion is just so annoying and I doubt it cud last that long, especially when he's the son of a Nazi commandment.
This movie was very gracious to the German population by saying they cared, but I suppose not all of them could be heartless to the Jews. I am just glad my ancestors left Germany before World War 2 and fought on the Allied side.
This movie should have been nominated for Best Picture and should have won. In fact, it deserved to sweep the Oscars, but for some reason they overlooked it. Honestly, it was the best film of 2008. Shame on Hollywood for not realizing that.
i love this song at 1.10 its brilliant i love piano music that shows out real well jus like the way the put it at the start of the titals it jus make you wana cry but i dident cause i was watching it in my english class beside everyone i jus went through it without crying but there was 1 little tear hahah LOVE THIS MOVIE)))) 5STAR
@Jeridoworld Pardon me, but I hardly think they where innocent. From what I was taught the whole society favored only the Arion race, and all other races where below them, expecially the Jews.
@shadowphantom2 I believe it was Napoleon who said "those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it." I say, let us learn all we can if not for our sake, for our children's.
hm...how you just said that is cool and all, but it sounds like it's ripped out of some politician's speech....xD waaaaaay over done man, but very deep. i get it :)
