  • LOVED the trailer-- When is the movie going to debut? Seriously- this is a great idea- a documentary that presents the TRUTH based on FACTS about the NYC carriage hroses and commercial carriage horses in general. For too long carriage horse owners and drivers have silently suffered savage attacks from animal rights extremists based on misinformatin and ignorance. I would pay movie theater rates to see this movie!!

  • no good this movie

  • where is the movie?

  • Can't wait to see the movie! Awesome trailer!

  • Hopefully no one is dumb enough to believe you are a carriage driver....only stupid ara's would go to such lengths to pose as a driver and say disgusting things. Felix, take your meds.

  • Beware of those that fix something that

isn't broken. People eventually find them out

when it is to late. I think his claim to

fame is extreme and full of nonsense, I'm sure he hasn't thought what is on the other side of his crusade if he pulls it off-all the out of work horses ending up at his place. No concept of those that love horses and using their talents for good. What's keeping him from crusading after the death penalty for drug dealers. Now that's abuse. He'd be my hero!

  • You were never a carriage driver, thanks for playing. Our number is small because the test is tricky. You wouldn't be able to pass the practical test for a carriage driver.

  • Great idea to make a documentary. Let people see for themselves how cruel this industry isn't. ;)

  • The horses are happy and healthy..both mentally and physically. Im not sure we can say the same about the anti-carriage freaks who have been harrassing, intimidating, and stalking people(including me)on a daily basis. Its pathetic really.

  • Never once has the New York Carriage industry been cited for cruelty by the ASPCA... not once. Game over, case closed.

  • uh.. get an education. The amount of hate that the "animal rights" people spew is frightening. These good people hate people who are from other countries, they torture the mexicans, irish, turks, and jews that work in the industry. You are not enlightened if you scream at someone to speak better english and to go back to their own countries. You are a racist. The horses are well cared for. THere is not a single person on the anti-carriage side that knows a single thing about horses.

  • This guy is an absolute IDIOT. Everything that comes out of his mouth is either wrong, a lie, a half-truth, or a nonsensical and nasty, personal attack. He cant make a rational argument to save his life. Watch what his comment will be to this..................

  • I am assuming Clancy is a horse.Maybe the hors was ill,or something like that.Thespca or humane society probably knows more on that .

  • When I take my horse into the park, my hands are only holding the reigns... he can walk through on his own, he stops to drink on his own, he does the ride on his own. You have no idea how well these horses are kept. HUMAN BEINGS IN NEW YORK have worse lives. Certainly most of the DOGS and CATS have worse. Crap, I have worse, I work the whole year, my horses only work six months.

  • test

  • I seen a lot of horses staggering with their tongues out.

Also the drivers don't even stop at the troughs for the horses to drink.

  • I am eager to see both documentaries. I have no issues with a working animal, as I've stated, but I do have issues with rules and regulations not being followed. I know the mind of a carriage company owner.....most are the same.

  • I like how she tries to act like she is impartial. Whatever. She is as anti-carriage as Elizabeth Forel aor any of the rest of the know-nothing morons who spout lies propaganda and continue the cycle of misleading information. Facts are a wonderful thing. Maybe you should try and find some, instead of following those morons along on their witch hunt.

  • ALL the horses that pull carriages in New York City are extremely healthy and well taken care of. If you think a horse doing WORK is cruel then you are a complete idiot. I own horses and it is more cruel to have them sit there are do nothing. They need exercise, just like humans. They are extremely strong and have no trouble pulling a carriage. This is not the 19th century. The horses do not get abused AT ALL! If they did the ASPCA would be on their asses immediately.

  • The inhumane treatment of the horses working in the carriage industry of NYC has NOTHING whatsoever to do with PETA. Please stop diverting attention from the issue at hand: It is time to ban horse-drawn carriages in New York City. Give the horses some water, please!

  • and, whoever posted this should fix the aspect ratio so that it looks professional.

  • Eyewitless is a moron that should be ignored.

  • PETA=

    People

    Euthanizing

    Terrified

    Animals

  • Ban PETA!!

  • If you support PETA look at your hands, there is blood on them!

  • Let's be fair,

PETA has killed almost 20,000 animals in the last 10 years. They have killed over 90% of the animals they touch.

The are the killer! They are the abusers!

  • What about the fact that what they are saying are lies and misrepresentations of our business? doesnt that count for anything?!!!!

  • let's be fair about this....

wanna ban horse carriages? fine. but first, you have to ban the hot dog vendors next to them, any restaurant that serves meat, and any store that sells leather shoes.

the life of a carriage horse isnt ideal, but infinitely better than an animal on a commercial farm that is used for food or clothes.

and there are TENS OF MILLIONS of those animals, compared to the 100 or so carriage horses.

  • eyewitnesscruel never seems to ''witness anything'' that he or she can back with some identification of the horse or carriage they saw.Its sooo simple to say ''i saw this''and ''i heard that'' but when asked who it was they seem to never know.

  • What a lie! You are so ridiculous. Come up with a new tactic, this one is obviously not working. With every lie you make your side look more and more like the fanatic psychopaths you are. Everyday you prove yourselves to be liars. Keep up the good work!

  • eyewitless probably doesn't even live in new york. He is a confirmed liar and an idiot.

  • NYC carriage horses ROCK!!!!

  • Eyewitness, thinks she saw a ''passed out ''horse today. Then she thought the aspca put water on it,and said to keep working. This comment,i will print and leave on the bulletin board. The aspca besides my staff really will get a giggle out that.

  • go look at the sparkly hooves on all my horses, you'll feel better seeing all the pretty colors, eyewitness, you need to calm down.

  • Foul language is just funny, cause we actually are getting a kick out of your weird banter.Guss you didn't see the sparkly hooves, the customers love them .We get at least 5 rides more a day from that decor.Dumbass, might be the next horses's name I buy,in honor of you.

  • don't drive your horses on our city streets. we don't condone cruelty. dumbass

  • A horse passed out today from the Heat. the driver water him down and he got up. the ASPCA refused to summons the incident and even permitted the horse to continue working. UNBELIVABLE

  • I'm bored already. Vancoover just joined us this year with carriage rides. This industry can not be stopped. Salem is trying to figure out how to continue it... they've only been doing it for 10 years. THE CARRIAGE INDUSTRY IS GROWING.. why would it end in manhattan? Best safety record in the industry. Sorry PeTA.

  • Stupid is not ethnic!

  • I know Clancy was never there... I WAS! And I respected your company and how we all treated the horses. Not all treat them well. That other guy is a disgrace to your industry. I am not going to bother trying to discuss anything with such a jerk. Tell your pal to reread this when he is sober someday and to see how he comes off. Not all horses are treated well...I do think it is wrong to ride on the city streets...Good night.

  • Gee, you did miss the point - THANK YOU for telling me how he died! That WAS my point - in finding out how he died - - it was such a s-e-c-r-e-t. You bring on nasty reactions so easily... What a jerk you are.

  • No....Clancey died IN THE STABLE! How? Your comments are those of (maybe) a six-year-old. WHY can't you tell me WHAT killed Clancey?

  • I am not a "you guys" and I have not been telling you anything. So, how did Clancy die? That horse was huge and healthy...then died INSIDE the stables on West 52nd, right across from DeWitt Clinton Park!

  • Its obvious that 73bunny is 1 [if not the same] extremists who fabricate lies on a topic they know nothing 1st hand about. They even find fault when the 1 carriage driver they liked bought carrots for his horse. We share the same city streets with police horses that go right on the same roads we do.Accidents happen, nobody wants that[though the fanatics actually wish if they don't provocate it] since it generates tons of money they can steal from the public by conning them for ''donations''.

  • You are right - - I am not "extreme" - just knew Clancey and wish they would own up to how he died in the stables on West 52nd. He was beauty and had personality plus. I used to help with the hayride at Hell's Kitchen Park - - great memories for many kids. The police van would ride in front to clear the way so the horse and children were safe on 9th and 10th Avenues.

  • 73Bunny,Clancy never did a hayride at Hells Kitchen Pk,ask Elka she is who orders it every yr.The hayrides are alot of fun and the kids totally enjoy it too.Never knew Clancy but i know his owner buys beautiful drafts.

  • It's Elke...yes - she is the "go to" lady - - she is lovely and cares greatly for the neighborhood.

  • How did that beautiful, sweet huge (healthy?) white horse in that multi-MILLION dollar stable on West 52nd, between 11th and the West Side Highway die?

Where is the investigation on Clancy?

Who was the vet? Who was the regular carriage rider?

  • There is only one man I ever saw take good care of his gorse. he would stop at West 43rd and 10th Avenue and go across to the deli and buy coffee and a carrot or two for his horse. he should have seen the look on that horse's face - watching him cross the street and waiting in anticipation. Bet he had no clue how many time that hose nearly got sideswiped by a taxi or UPS truck! HORSES DO NOT BELONG ON CITY STREETS - PROVIDE STABLES IN CENTRAL PARK!

  • Even when liars tell the truth, they are never believed. The liar will lie once, twice, and then perish when he tells the truth.

  • I agree, please post what you have,if you really have it.Foul language just shows the frustration by a extremist who knows that all this chatter means absoultly nothing. We keep working andcustomers keep riding. This is another proof the public loves us and they are ignoring the fanatics who cry wolf too many times.

  • No foul language used on my end, I iriterated Mr. Peeba76 swears to address his misconstrued critique

  • I was referring to your comment 5 down from here.We have the right to agree to disagree.I provide horse drawn carriage serices in 3 states, and after over 41yrs,we have no worries about major changes.

  • NO, I am not a fucking liar; the horse was taken off the hack line due to injury. The people shouted "#@$, how does anyone force a horse to work hurt, and the driver responded the horse was not injured when he last checked. I called the ASPCA but they can't disclose information to the public. Any updates on this horse's being. Was he put down like the rest?

  • There is not 1 shred of a connection between any carriage company and the slaughter industry. When pressed for the truth,as usual these ar activists have nothing to show expect whatever they prefer to imagine.Any horse retired at my stable can be presented at any time with glowing reports in the condition they recieved them in.Now that would have been a great film, the before they became a carriage horse, life of a carriage horse, the vacation of acarriage horse and the retirement of carriage horse.

  • I did inquire of the horse's condition but the ASPCA stated they can not divulge information to the public. It was most probably put down

  • A horse was taken off the hack line since the ASPCA caught it limping on 6th ave. I have it all on film

  • Uhh... nope. Eyewitless is again...a liar... show the film... WE DON"T PUT DOWN HORSES.. A lame horse is not killed in our industry. Eyewitless has the brain of a child and the same ethics.

  • crap. U caught me. I kill at least one horse every day... for luck... how insane can people be to think that people who would choose this business, would hate horses. Grow up, we love horses.

  • NO CRUELTY. NO ABUSE. We are the best at this business.

  • YES Cruelty, YES Abuse, end the abuse. These horses are killed daily in this industry

  • eye witless is one of the dumber ones. for once we should talk about something else.

  • bitch, you should be convicted of many things. good choice of words, now go fuck yourself

  • Romeo isn't that polished on our regulations, that 90 degrees is the cutoff limit to work horses, the lowest temp reg in the country, its 98 in SC,96 in TX and 96 in La.

  • by the way, I hear that a horse was sick and had to be put down today. why was it sick?

  • I have no idea where this ''eyewitness'' gets their info, but no horse was put down. The stable conditions that is stated in his/her comment is a huge lie,as there are no standing stalls in our NYC stables, even though tie stalls are perfectly a acceptable in many professional stables,ex,Budweiser Clydes,NYC Police Horses in lower Manhattan. These urban horses are very acclimated to city life and quite comfortable.

  • I heard that your mother loved to suck cock and today she couldn't stop herself. come on.

  • 1243

  • auditorNYC, Martin luther King said all unjust laws should be broken with impunity No pay raise in 20 years? That is animal cruelty.

  • Aha! So this is how the drivers rationalize it whenever they break laws (ie, having the horse work in excessive heat). Making gobs of money "by any means necessary." Gotcha.

  • romeo made no sense with that comment.Every business hasn't had to wait 20 yrs to get a pay raise.Drivers break no laws,'excessive heat''especially.I think this romeo,is just a bit jealous since he refers to worrying we make ''gobs of money''.I thought your main ''concern'' was the horses!

  • Romeo is not that bright... very typical of the animal rights movement. We do not work the horses in bad heat... and I don't know how you can put quotes around "by any means necessary"... fortunately the animal rights movement "only wants to have sex with animals". I really can't support that stance.

  • quotation: from another famous activist

DON'T WORK THE HORSES IN BAD HEAT??? ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? WHAT A LIE

Actually, I do sleep with a cat

  • Reality calling Baricon, animal cruelty is no water for the horses, no free movement for the horses, stand only stalls, congested traffic environment etc. No raise is not animal cruelty. Ironic that you do agree that you are an animal. Anyone that treats theses horses the way the drivers do is an animal.

  • ifauditor ny,really believes what they say,go make a formal complaint, and make sure you have some hard case proof of what you accuse. This kiddy chatter is entertaining, but business goes on just fine as usual, and that just shows where these fanatics stand.

  • Peeba76: The carriage industry claims they have not had a pay raise in 20 years but you claim that you bought a farm and have three horses. Sounds like a lot of money to me. How do you do it ... by not reporting what you make and charging tourists more? Or is what you do a front for something else? It seems you spend so much time on the computer, I wonder how you make a living. And you work with the Riccobonos. One of them was convicted of animal cruelty in Pennsylvania.

  • Peeba, you are yelling at people who will never agree with you. These are people that know nothing about horses. These are domesticated horses, they are work animals, they need to work, it's breed into them. What's amazing is that everybody loves the horses because they are so friendly. It's only because they are domesticated that they are friendly... try to go make friends with a wild horse.

  • eyewhitless continues to sulk. I've never made racist statement so.. I'm not racist... you are since the jewish comment still bothers you. Thats how it works.

  • I showed how narrow minded and ignorant you are by associating my remark to Jews and not to yourself which it was intended

  • Eyewitless, you are a racist, it is not my fault... this probably has to do with parenting. This is typical of "animal rights" people. They equate horses to african americans. And thats just were the fun begins.

  • and, one more time... the horses are not suffering... they are actually quite happy. Many members of the opposition are suffering from sexual disorders, emotional immaturity, and an assortment of psychological dysfunctions. This is not related to the carriage trade, but rather, their own upbringing. The horses have no relation to your own psychosis... just let it go. It's not my fault your husband/father/brother beat/raped/tortured you. Pay a psychologist.

  • Dr Phil, it is insulting that you would use the misfortune of others to validate your own abuse. Perhaps your parents neglect or lack of parents made you the callous person that you are now

  • wow. horsefeelpain is either a self hating jew, or just a racist in general.... good to know. I'm not jewish, I just found the comment offensive... to humans. wow.

  • BAricon, you are a liar and a racist and quite stupid. first you state you are jewish and now you state you are not jewish. second, you assume the comment was direct to jewish people but it was direct to the carriage drivers who would bend over for a buck. Buck cruelty

  • horsefeelpain.. you have the brain of a child. I can be a liar and quite stupid (since I waste my time talking to you).. but not a racist That accusation actually lets me know that you are quite stupid.. I'm going to continue to label you as a liar and a racist now that I have evidence of all of it. Many thanks.

  • I think you are the racist since you assume the comment was directed to jews and not to you and your trade

  • horsefeelpain, what are you? an anti-semite? I'm jewish, so I'd bend over backwards to pick up a penny? You are just filled with hatred.

  • teste

  • who must be a self-hating jew to assume that the comment was directed to Jews. it was directed to the carriage drivers and their greed. they don't give a damn about the horses' suffering. They do anything for a buck.

  • Frau... always a lie. the stalls are pretty big. 2, You could drown our horses inwater. Our industry doesnt lie. Every now and then our researches don't do their homework.

  • You are so sick. who wants to drown horses. dumbass

  • If you work for PETA or you support them your are a killer!!!!!

  • Let's look at liars, and lies, Baricon. The Carriage Industry Lie # 1) Horses have big stalls. Truth: Most horses can not lie down or turn around in their stalls. Lie 2) Horses get adequate water. Truth: Drivers do not stop enough for horses to get enough water. They want to make as much money as they can on their shift. Water is a low priority. This is supported by a 2007 audit of the industry citing dehydration as a chronic problem. Those are just 2 of the big lies of the industry.

  • I actually used to work for several stables in NYC within the last couple of years and can tell you that 5 times, thats 5 times in one summer I arrived in the morning with DEAD horses on the floor, WORKED to death, since I witnessed the illegal 15 hour SHIFTS, and all the lies I was witness to in regards to inspections, WHICH there were NONE by the way. I then went undercover with PETA, and every other animal welfare group in N YC and the US, and the ONLY one who did anything WAS PETA...

  • Yes, they like to double shift the horses. The ASPCA is wrong to do what they did. I know you speak the truth. the ASPCA does not respond to complaints. Also the ASPCA does not check their logs. All they do is look around once a while to check if a horse is near death or bleeding profusely. what a joke . These carriage drivers and owners are the worst people I have ever seen. GARBAGE

  • How many lies do I have to see? One... she was never a carriage driver... two... eyewhitless is an idiot. STOP LYING lady vic. You never worked for a stable. I'd have noticed.

  • it is eyewitnesscruel. you are a liar and juvenile. Only little children make fun of peoples' names. Stop the cruelty and Grow UP

  • Oh gee, we can all breathe a sigh of relief that the NY Horse & Carriage Industry thinks it treats its horses better than other horse industries. It's not GOOD ENOUGH. These horses die on average after 4 years of working for you. Why? Because they live and work in horrentious conditions. They are usually older, sick and injured ex-racehorses, which means they are already not fit to be doing this kind of work. SHAME ON YOU ALL. Find a different job that doesn't involve animal abuse!

  • The New York Horse and Carriage industry has bent over backwards to change how their horses are treated. PeTA pays no attention. The horse and carriage industry in New York provides better lives for their horses than ANY OTHER HORSE INDUSTRY IN THIS COUNTRY. Can we stop the PeTA rhetoric for one minute?

  • stop your lies. you probably bent over backwards to pick up a penny.

  • And you Roxanne Delgado are paid by PETA too!!

  • PETA=a corporation

  • Since 1999 PETA has killed almost 20,000 animals, all they care that is green are the dollars!

  • The health hazards posed to horses by traffic, noise, exhaust, and hard concrete, as well as the industry's proven unwillingness or inability to provide horses with decent living and working conditions, show that there can be no humane alternative to a complete ban on horse-drawn carriages in New York City.

  • The average working life of a New York City carriage horse is four years, as compared to 15 years for horses in the New York City Police Department's mounted patrol. ASPCA inspections since the 1980s have indicated that hoof and joint injuries, resulting from long hours walking on hard concrete, are pervasive, and that colic and other illnesses, brought about by bad or insufficient food, also are common

  • On February 7, 2008, a New York City carriage horse named Clancy was found dead in his stall in a stable on 11th Avenue near 52nd Street.

  • Vigil Held for Horse Carriage Casualties" -- New York City, August 1994 (Two carriage horses collapsed and died on New York City streets within a 16-day period.)

  • New York City, January 1999 A horse pulling a carriage stepped on an electrically charged manhole cover and was shocked to death

  • People have completely lost their sense of reality, to kill an animal is not to save it!

    PETA=Angels of Death

  • New York City, November 2, 2000 "A horse broke free from its carriage yesterday at Columbus Circle and hit at least one car as it galloped to Broadway - stopping morning traffic as people watched in horror...The horse went down about half-a-block before the harness broke, snaring one of his legs...The horse fell and slid down the street..."

  • PETA kills animals

  • PETA has killed 93% of the animals they have ever been in touch with!

    Get the facts!

  • PETA=Corporation

  • peeba76,

I do not feel the need to stoop to your level and engage in name calling. The fact is, if you are supporting the horse drawn carriage industry, or participating in it, then you are condoning animal cruelty, pure and simple. And I have seen enough living around here, that anything you say about ample water, or great conditions is meaningless. The public is learning that the truth is somewhat different and uglier than what you and your lobbyists are trying to advertise.

  • This shows how PETA is not different from any other corporation, they just want to make money! What animal rights, It's all about the dollar! (Or perhaps the EURO those days!) If PETA was really fighting for the animal rights they should be at the race tracks every day!

The do not go because it is not convenient! It is not a good publicity stunt, so the cannot make money from it, so those horses can keep on dying, they do not care!

  • just because others do wrong does not justify your own cruel acts inflicted on the horse drawn carriage industry. what a cope out

  • I want to know where the great heros of America were yesterday?? Yes, where was PETA yesterday when Eight Belles collapsed with not one but two broken legs at the Kentucky Derby? I want to know why the "animal activist" never go to protest against racing. Ops, I forgot, they do not have the guts!

  • Where were you if you were supposedly so outraged?

  • Why can't we care about the horses?

  • Eyewitless still doesn't get it. Whatever. He doen't get the whole thing. I get it.

  • Hey Peeba,

The troughs are empty in the summer too! And one little bucket of water a day for a horse working a ridiculously long day is just not enough. And don't tell me you refill it. All you care about is the ticking clock and making as much money as possible. When the horse is used up, you move on to Version 2 of that horse, keeping the license and name. It's animal cruelty, pure and simple.

  • FraudObs... You have no idea what you are talking about

  • Eyewitless is the rainman of posters. he's too dumb to live, but to rare to kill. Each word a retarded lie. Each line a symphony of spelling errors. Today I watch Eyewitless walk the streets and woe is me as his brain look so tired... life tricky. Eyewitless work hard to write on posts... horse make eyewitless angry as he doen't make as much as horse. Horse pretty though.. eyewitless love.

  • ????, are you drunk?? what the hell are you saying. Horses don't make anything. YOu make the money. Alcohol makes people say crazy stuff

  • I don't think you can see people's brain and how does a brain look when it is tired? Stop drinking please

  • eyewitless you are just stupid. I was making fun of you... get the joke?

  • I seen yesterday the horses working in the rain while the passengers were sitting cozy and the driver were also protected from the rain.

I go agree, the passengers are the fattest group of people i have seen

  • When I lived in Hell's Kitchen I would hear these poor horses begin their daily commute at 7 or 8 a.m., trotting alongside honking cabs, double-decker buses, and tardy businessmen racing to get to work on time. They made the mile-long journey from their "stables" to Central Park in the worst conditions, from August heat to February snow. Some horses wouldn't return for the night until 2 or 3 a.m. The carriage drivers were always the same, fat guys from New Jersey

  • Today I seen one of the drivers yank back the horse and it poor neck look so strain. what an abusive group of people. Also I seen again one of the drivers left the horse standing in its own manure.

  • Why don't these people ever go bother the Amish? Most people don't know how they break thier horses in, but I assure you it isn't with wine, and poetry.

  • Because we are NYC residents who don't want this abuse in our city. If the Amish are abusing the horses perhaps you should notify the appropriate authorities. Why don't you do something instead of criticizing those who are trying to help the horses in NYC.

  • What a joke this movie is - especially the part showing a horse getting water! Those troughs are ALWAYS empty. Those horse die after 4 years of working the streets because they get black lung, are exhausted and miserable. This industry just covers their deaths up when they die in the stables, and when they are done with them, they send them to PA to the auctions...

  • Well sometimes they are fill with garbage such as starbucks cups.

  • what a beautiful and thoughtful trailer. this one i can appreciate. even though i don't get a shocked and disgusted feeling in the pit of my stomach (much like when i see a train wreck), i can appreciate that there are many beautiful, well-fed, happy horses THAT WORK FOR A LIVING!!! well done gothamcarriagemovie!!!

  • There has never been an intelligent front to the anti-horse and carriage movement. It has always been lead by the lowest common denominator. Elizabeth Forel is an elderly publicity hound that knows nothing about animals.. She just wants attention. It's not my fault her kids don't pay attention to her.

  • So all these horses should go out to pasture becasue all horses in the country side have wonderful lives and they never get hurt out there? I work with horses and I see more abuse in a day with "Pet horses" than you see in a month in NYC. Horses were not made for being "stored" in a box stall looking in to a wall and being ridden 1 hour a week. They die from it. NYC carriage horses work. They are moving which keep them healthy and in shape. Not perfect but better than the poor "PET HORSE"

  • The ASPCA has concluded that the status quo is no longer acceptable. We urge you to contact your councilmember to support Councilmember Avella's legislation to ban carriage horses in New York City

  • Recent events, including the increasing number of accidents and deaths of horses, underscore that the time has come to get these animals off our streets. On September 14, 2007, a horse frightened by a noise bolted across Central Park South, collided with a tree and broke her leg. She died shortly thereafter

  • As the primary enforcer of New York City's carriage horse laws, the ASPCA has firsthand knowledge related to:

    ongoing problems and violations;

the recent increase in the number of horse-related accidents and deaths; and

the urban environment that compromises the health of the horses involved in this industry.

  • On January 2, 2006, a horse pulling a hansom cab in Manhattan got spooked and bolted down 9th Avenue, galloping for several blocks before smashing into a station wagon at 50th Street. The horse, whose name was Spotty, was badly injured, wrapped around the car, with his rear legs on top of it and his head on the ground. He was later euthanized. He was just five years old and had been working in the city for only a few months.

  • The horse drawn carriage industry is an anachronism, belonging to the 19th century, and has no place in the 21st century of the crowded and congested streets of New York City.

  • Not surprisingly, with its loud and busy streets, New York City is no exception. In 2006, a horse was euthanized after bolting from a carriage and slamming into a station wagon—the driver received a fractured skull and was put in a medically induced coma. The same year, two other people were seriously injured in collisions involving horse-drawn carriages, and one horse was repeatedly whipped after collapsing in Central Park

  • Horse drawn carriages constitute a danger to people in vehicles, on bicycles and on foot. They impede the flow of traffic, particularly with respect to emergency vehicles. The horses are forced to work in dangerous, unhealthy and unnatural conditions

  • HO, I can stomp your ass in a sec. I aint your horse bitch. I send you back to leprechaun land
