  • GearBuyersGuide,

You have it backwards, the smaller light is the newer model 65/10 lumens ... the larger light is the older 30/1.1 lumens light. Other then that .... not a bad review... :-))

  • What's the difference between the old and new model?

  • @krazy22dude,

The larger L1 (second generation L1) used a Luxon III emitter (a 3 watt emitter driven at 1 watt) rated at 30 lumens hight and 1.1 lumens on low with a runtime of just about 2 hours on hight and over 90 hours on low.

The smaller 3rd Generation L1 features a hight output Cree LED rated at 65 lumens on hight and 10 lumens on low. Run time is 2 1/4 hours on hight and about 18 hours on low (to 50 percent of start output)

  • I carry an L1 as my secondary EDC light. It has served me well.

  • I was thinking they would be good for that too

    I really like their size

  • @GearBuyersGuide The L1 feels better in hand as in my opinion it has the best lenght ...though I definetely preffer the E1L and E1B - the only SF I have - as they have normal clickies. I hate the twistie switch although it's supposed to be more reliable. I am sorry I won't be tempted to get an LX1/LX2 ...so sorry !
