Yeah... To me Gillian Anderson comes off as fairly conceited and not the brightest crayon in the box (or maybe it's just her sheer lack of personality). She sounds really ungrateful for her fans, even more so when placed next to Matt Smith who's the most adorable and enthusiastic bloke ever. She made her living thanks to geeks everywhere for a good number of years, so it's a bit much for her to slag them off now...

@Wizlyy Actually, I appreciate her honesty. I'm a sci-fi geek myself and frankly a lot of us are undignified, embarrassing nuisances. Also, it's a bit off-putting when celebrities suck up to their fans. I'm not saying that Matt Smith is, this is probably still new to him and he's enjoying it, but he WILL get tired of it at some point.

@Xanxei1 I understand your point but still there's a difference between not sucking up to your fans and clearly showing off your contempt. I don't mind the fact that she isn't a geek and wants to move on, she could just speak about that part of her career with a little more tact. And don't come and tell me that every other type of pop culture doesn't have creepy fans. In EVERY group of fans there are nutters. Geeks just get the worst reputation because even the sane ones are misunderstood.

@Wizlyy Sure. Bieber fans, Twilight fans, etc. Even the most pathetic of sci-fi geeks have nothing on that lot. And sure, Anderson doesn't exactly come of as particularly charming. But my point stands. When fans (of whatever) are behaving like undignified twats, I think they SHOULD be slagged off. And I respect any celebrity who will do that at the risk of losing money.
