Amazing. Love the low notes. The acting is great. The diction isn't all THAT bad. The only other stride that stands out to me was a mezzo with Sutherland, I don't remember her name, i think it was an '83 production where she was seated the entire time. Anywho, this is brilliant, i keep listening to it :D

@Thewisemonkey9 Actually, Radvanovsky stole the show in that one. With Hvorostovsky (great!) and Alvarez (decent), the singers saved a boring production...

Imo, clearly not if you listen to the 2009 version. I agree Radvanovsky stole the show in 2009, but not in 2011 (nearly the same cast Alvarez - Radvanovsky - Hvorostovsky - Zajick). She was astonishing in 2009 but only very good in 2011 and other way round for Zajick (again, imo).

By the way, you also should listen to Hvorostovsky 2009 (imo more human and expressive than in 2011, same great voice).

I also prefer the 2009 for Noseda, less brutal and more musical than Armiliato...
