I have and have had several big Ford cars with the 4.6
1995 Lincoln Town Car Blue- got to 322,000-wrecked in crash- a few minor problems
1995 Green Crown Vic 287,000 wrecked- was burning a lot of oil, but ran like new
current 1995 Town Car 220,000- all factory original, except the #2 cyl valve spring broke at 124,000-miles-fixed for $10.00. still runs like new- a few air suspension repairs- window regulators- and a blend door for heat/AC- that is it. Great cars.
@jon204 my 97 cavalier has 271,000 miles on it and the only thing that ever broke on it was the motor mount. its been by far the most reliable car iv ever owned. my honda cant ever compiare to the cavaliers reliability.
Hoping not to jinx myself, my '97 Thunderbird with the same drive train, has a bit over 167,000. All original engine parts including starter, water/fuel pumps, alternator,
ect. Everything still works except the power antenna drive expired a couple of years when the antenna was frozen. I've replace 1 headlight, 1 tail lamp, and 1 instrument panel light. The auto climate control works perfectly, as does the power moon roof. It will still lay a 100' patch of rubber. Always use Valvoline 5-30 oil.
I have a 1998 town car with 453,764 miles and stills runs like a champ! I always maintain it regular oil changes you know. LIVING FOREVER!!!! FUCK HONDA'S
@cuevaskico the difference is....you dont have to pay 30 grand for a turd tank lincoln....to get long mileage out of a honda or toyota engine....u can pay half that and get one that will humiliate the lincoln on MPG...handling, braking, maneuverability.
These things will last you a life time if you treat them well.
1997 Town Car Executive. Air bags replaced and due for a paint job. Previous owner crashed it three times, and backed into it with her lexus putting two huge dents in it. Just hit 200,000 miles, not a thing wrong with it.
There are lots of Lincolns on the road with 500K miles. Don't believe me? Next time you visit Newyork, Chicago, or Los Angelas look for black lincoln short limos. I saw one with 525k. miles on it. it was still running great with original engine and tranny. We paid 65 dollars from downtown to airport in chicago for it and it was awsome.
@robby844 My friends 96 had 474,000 miles when he had his first transmission problem. As long as you do maintenance often the car will last forever...
@rollinx101 we had a 95 come into our shop every 30k for a filter and it only lasted 185k.well now that i recall i have seen fords with over 500k on the original trans
@robby844 Theres a guy on Lincolnsonline with 460 on the original trans, 485 on the engine. Its not common, but totally possible with regular maintenance.
I just bought a 94 Lincoln town car for 24000 best purchase I've ever made it feels like your riding a cloud made from money.... Now thats class and luxury all is left is to put 2 12 inch subs, and lower it, maybe 100 spolk wires with hydrolics but that's not really necessary.
Are you kidding? If this has the 4.6L like the crown vic's do thats an awesome motor. Im really not a Ford guy but that is a very dependable motor and I put 4k miles on a rental one over a few weeks and avg was 27 mpg mostly on the highway! Now I know why cops use them!
@Mundana06 yup and your car not made of cheap metal and plastic cheap interior and ride like your on a cloud. These people need to watch a town car when ones in front of them. On bumpy roads the wheels move alot but the cabin stays completely still.
The synthetic oil is only better because allows you to have bigger intervals between oil changes. If you always change your oil every 3K miles, not only your 4.6L engine will last you a looong time but will perform very well. High mileage might be a good idea if your car has more than 150K
*lol* You must have a crappy life to be amused by an Youtube comment!Your childish sarcasm does not affect me at all , I couldn't care less! *LOL*
All I know is that I have a 96 and I love it. My first engine had 256K miles and was still running when I swapped for a newer with less than 80K. The car is still running great and everything works great! Whatever!
my 95 town car was the best car i ever owned, and i wish i still had it!.. change the oil in them 4.6s and they keep on goin... not Quite as tough as the 5.0 but pretty close,, my buddy had an 88 mustang notch with over 200k on the stock lower end, and he ran a 175 shot of NOS thru it regularly, as long as he remembered to retard the timing, the thing never had a problem,, Built ford tough,, now i have a shitty Altima
good lord.. i got a 94 town car with 68,000 original miles.. check out my vid's to see my towncar.. i'll make a walk around of it one day to show you the odometer.
@anhacus i agree one of the best production cars ever made ill pick a Lincoln Town Car or Continental over a HONDA POS any day my 95 continental has only 103K and that 4.6L DOHC V8 out of the mark 8 goes like its on steroids
you cant tell me you have never changed spark plugs, hoses, fuel pump, fuel filter, air filter, spark plug wires, oil pump, power steering pump ect. i find it hard to believe that has original parts excluding breaks oil ect.
Yeah i know what the description says. I just dont know how anyone would ever beleive it. Hate to break it to you, but not everything on youtube is 100% real....

It's all how you treat them. I bought a 89 Chevy from an oil field service company for pretty cheap. The upholstery was stained and the bed had zero paint left on it. It had 96,000 miles on it when I got it. Less than $300.00 got me a Rhino spray on liner that made the bed like new and $75.00 got me Western Zarape style seat covers.
