This woman WILL NEVER be on Whitney's level. Vocally, star power, or looks. Whitney became a star for a reason and there was a reason Wendy, Phyllis Hyman etc...did NOT! They did not have it ALL like Whitney. Whitney's voice was on another level
Estimated friend, if you want to listen again this song and an endless number of successes of the love I suggest you to visit Radio MUSICA PARA MIMOS - looks for his direction URL in Google ( search Musica para Mimos in Google)-. best romantic music of all the times in Internet, is great, is very good ...!!!
didnt know of her till i saw her fantastique performance with michael macdonald. i personally think the reason why she's not a big big star is the choice of songs. she should have gone with a more rythm and blues sound and not those sugary songs of the 80s and 90s. that performance with mr macdonald! see what i mean!!!!!!
I actually have this cd. A shame she didn't become the larger star that most of us thought she should've been. This woman should've been a mega star. I wonder what she's doing today. I bet she can STILL give it to us with this song.
I love Wendy Moten and I've always loved her wonderful voice and ever since Coming out of the rain I just fell in love with that song and of course Wendy it's still one of those timeless songs that never gets old and one that lives on forever. This is a beautiful song as well.
This is a great song and Wendy has the voice to really do it justice. I think a lot of people want to hear more from this lady. I know I do. Thanks for the post jd.
"What a voice this Lady has". Been trying to find out who was the Female vocalist on "Kirk Whalum - All I Do" ... Now I know, the Brilliant !!! Wendy Moten, *****
She is just AMAZING. I always wondered why she didn't get the publicity she should have gotten! My favorite song by her is "Come In From Out of the Rain." This song is a new one for me - very beautiful!! Thanks so much for posting. :)
I've been looking for this song for ages, until I finally found it here recently. Jd, I'm so grateful to you. I just wish the quality of the sound is better, like her lovely live rendition of "Still It's You". But i'm pretty sure you did your best. I can't be any less grateful. You have no idea how I have been looking for this song like crazy for so long. Thanks a million!
Has anyone heard Wendy's new Christmas CD?....It's awesome....I just got mine off Itunes.....She's the greatest singer of all time....Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Beyonce are not even close....Wait til you here this Christmas CD....I am a devoted fan for life!
I agree with you 100%. I saw her in concert a couple of weeks ago and her voice is better than it was back then. Whitney's voice can't compare to Wendy's voice. I'm a big Whitney fan, but I'm a bigger Wendy Moten fan.
@porcelaincougar Whitney had that IT factor, stage presence and family (Cissy and Dionne Warwick) not to mention she had the right people backing her. Not to take anything away from Wendy cause I can get into her but Whitney (BACK IN THE DAY) had that pure power and clarity no other artist ever had and could do it effortlessly. Now Wendy can sing circles around Whitney but would have had a hard time back in 1996!!!!!
I am big Wendy Moten's fan from Argentina, too. Her best ballad Come on in out of the Rain was played as background music on the kid's show Grande Pa back in the early 1990's, remember? Too bad we didn't hear from her ever since but I got her first album from Amazon thanks to the internet!
Work it Wendy!!!! Beautiful.....I pray a well know producer will pick you up and take your further with your awesome voice......LT....Thanks for posting JD!
I first heard Wendy Moten on a compilation CD I got hold of a few weeks ago. How is it that someone who sounds so much like Whitney Houston - who has an utterly astounding voice - is so unknown here in the U.K.
Maybe it's because although her voice is comparable to Whitney's her songs are not. I don't mean this offensively, but of all the songs of Wendy's I've so far heard here on YouTube they're all pretty forgettable. A great shame really.
@Devotedlamb19 I don't know about the next Whitney vocally, but she really does have a Whitney type persona, and that was my first thought as I looked at her before I heard her sing, but she does have a lovely voice. Peace.
I couldn't agree with you more mariposanegra6814 she sounded too much like Whitney so she was kinda swept under the rug. She sure did have the looks. Does any one know what she is doing now?
I love this song. Thanks for posting it. I remember I brought this tape. Her voice is truly amazing. I always thought she did not get the credit she deserved. Where you at Wendy??
i listen to your songs since your early release. until now i still in love with your voice. please wendy if you read these please comeback... you are truly a gift... i love you.
Ok, I totally forgot about her and saw her posted on a whitney website. Where is she and what is she doing? Would love to see her put all the rest to shame, we need her!
On the high F-Gb-Ab belts ("Ve-ry clo-") just before the beginning of the Db major section, dear Wendy is singing just under pitch; my guess is that she took a "low" breath, and so was incorrectly set-up for the belt.
I KNOW FULL WELL she can sing it perfectly!!! It's just I was curious to why it was released like this, that's all.
Some wicked thieving friend stole my sleeve notes, so I've only got the CD now, sigh...
Yeah, I agree. Wendy was singing too close to AB major when the high F was pitched slightly before the C minor key was used to set up the "belt" prior to the chorus.
I reckon that makes more sense than what you've just said anyway.
ziggydamaestro : I'm sorry to say this but I really think you're just making all this up!
Wendy is clearly singing in #C with an undertone of "middle C". This is obvious to anybody who knows music.
The first verse began on an Ab11 chord but advances to a Ab17 (sus 21) chord before the chorus.
When Wendy reaches the chorus, there is a shift in key (DS negative, I think) which indicates to me that Wendy sang "Ve-ry clo-" on the correct octave whilst maintaining the right frequency.
there is absolutely nothing wrong with that run. wendy is running up a very short scale, in time to the music; thus adding a dramatic vocal reading to the presentation of the song. others would have just flipped the note up to falsetto. Wendy has a vibrado that she controls very well. she is a damn good vocalist and is much in demand as a session vocalist as well. so pitch is not her problem. this woman can sang!!! sing along if you still don't understand.
If you actually READ what I have written, you would understand that (1) I agree that she is a "damn good vocalist"! (2) There's nothing wrong with her vibrato - in fact, I never even mentioned it...
Not sure what you mean with "singing in time to the music"; she sings two crotchet triplets AGAINST the beat.
The phrase to which I refer technically isn't a run...
The note to which I am referring is undoubtedly flat; check with someone who has perfect pitch if YOU still don't understand.

Mr Dominator 1978,
With respect, I'm really not sure what you said made any sense at all!
"Singing too close to Ab major" means what exactly? The phrase is on an Ab11(sus13) chord, but I'm not sure what you mean.
"The high F was pitched slightly" - eh???
"C minor key" - Cminor doesn't even feature in this song... and how can a key set up a belt?
Would you care to clarify?
