  • Hi Room750,

Your comment is very much appreciated. In fact, the only "makeup" in Marta's after photo is lip stick and eye makeup. Marta's skin (other than eyelids and lips) had been washed and is without any makeup. One of the most common patient comments after Fraxel repair laser treatment is,"I don't miss using my foundation (makeup)". I agree that makeup can hide all flaws, but fortunately for Marta&many of my other Fraxel repair patients, they don't need 20 min. & a makeup counter to do so.

  • The "after" photo at the end doesn't illustrate the integrity of the treatment. The patient is wearing a face full of makeup. I can make her "before" picture look like her after. Just give me a makeup counter and 20 minutes.

If you want to demonstrate the success of the treatment, you have to compare apples to apples. Makeup can hide all flaws.

  • Hi Dr. Persky,

I will be having my procedure tommorow and I am now worried because I am an asian and I might have hyperpigmentation after the procedure. I thought you will only get some redness after its done not the way Marta looks like. Any input is appreciated

  • Hi Rav,

I have my patients use NIA-24 skin strengthening moisturizer two times a day as their moisturizer. With time your post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation should decrease. Good luck and be well.

  • Good job, she looks beautiful after.

Does FRAXEL Clean scars on a body? If there is video give the reference. Thanks.

  • @SuperMarinello

    Dear Marinello,

Thank you for your comments! I saw Marta last week and she looks great. Fraxel works very well on scars on the body. Unfortunately, I don't know of a video reference. I will try to record the next body treatment that I do. Be well.

    Dr. Persky

  • @michaelpersky Ok. Thanks.

  • Hi Jadelz83,

Thank you for your comments. Marta has eye make up and lipstick on in her post op photos. She has no other facial make up on (no foundation or blush). Thanks again.

    Dr. Persky

  • Her treatment results a great, however she does have foundation, eye make up, blush ( all visibly noticable) in her after photo. I work in a clinic that offers the Fraxel restore dual and we always do pre and post photos with out any make up. You cannot expect patients to believe post photos that are not a real representation of results.

  • yikes. the after shot looks like it should be a before shot. she still looks tired and skin looks a bit uneven. she does not look any younger unfortunately. i would say about 57 to 60 yrs of age she looks in the after.

  • She still looks 56...she just looks healthier. I always tell people that age is not around the eyes..it's IN the eyes. And no doctors nor surgeons can do anything about that...not even a face lift (which look ridiculous anyway).

  • @AnnaSofiaR

    Hi Anna,

Thank you for your insights. I agree with you, and many patients tell us that they look healthier, and that their skin tone, texture, and color are improved. Be well.

    Dr. Persky

  • @michaelpersky but do those results last or are they only temporary?

  • @michaelpersky A study

  • @michaelpersky A study in Lasers in Surgery & Medicine (2/10 Ortiz, Tremaine, Zachary) concluded "fractional; CO2 laser resurfacing is associated with long-term efficacy & improvement of acne scars & photodamaged skin when compared to baseline. The persistence of his benefit is moderated after 1-2 years, &additional treatments may be necessary to enhance long-term results".

  • @SuddenCatharsis Please see my previous comment. The study did not indicate what settings were used. I tend to treat my patients at higher settings for maximum results. I have found that my patients, including Marta, are maintaining their results up to 2 1/2 years out. Certainly a 2'nd treatment or even a Fraxel Lite boosts the original effects. Skin care maintenance with excellent skin care products & sun protection preserve results.

  • @SuddenCatharsis Please see my comments at michaelpersky @michaelpersky

  • Its a lot scarier than it looks??

  • @1980MF1980

    Hi,

What Marta meant to say was that it looks a lot scarier than it is. It couldn't "look" more scary. Be well.

    Dr. P

  • I actually think she looks better before. Maybe it was the make up in the "after" picture that makes her look aged.

  • nice pic at the end!.........before: lighter skin, smaller eyes, less lipstick.... after: bigger eyes, more eyebrow shadow, darker complexion due to tthe lighting.

  • Hey dr. Persky,

I am a male and was diagnosed with sjogren's syndrome, would it be safe to do C02 while having sjogrens? My biggest concern would be since my face is sensitive is the scarring issue involving the laser. If c02 cant be done, would you recommend the normal fraxel? this is for acne scarring

  • Hi again Dr Persky , i have been interested in the Fraxel repair , i now have heard of a new laser thats suposed to be better , Mixto co2 fractional laser , it that the same os the Fraxel ? thanx Maureen in Ft Lauderdale

  • Hi Maureen,

Mixto CO2 has been around now for about 1 1/2 years. It can give good results, but only those who have it claim that it is "better" than Fraxel. It is a fractionated CO2 laser like Fraxel repair, but lacks many features that Fraxel offers.

  • Hello Dr. Perskey....I have a question on the fraxel repair, at what point in time would you arrive at your final result. How long would it take after the laser to see what the final result will look like ???.

  • Hi, that is a very good question. It usually takes about 4 to 6 months to arrive at the final result after Fraxel repair as swelling decreases and collagen production has maximized. We are now seeing patients two years after treatment and they are maintaining their results. Be well.

    Dr. Persky

  • Thankyou Doctor for your answer to my question, I have one more for you , if a patient was not satisfied with the initial result from the fraxel repair would it be the patients responsibility to pay for a second fraxel repair ???. How would that work, also how soon would you have to wait before doing a secondary fraxel repair. i realize that normally it is only one treatment but was curius in knowing what would happen as far as as the price for a second.

  • Hi Kevin,

My policy with patients is to perform a second Fraxel repair at the cost of supplies. Patients are responsible for that cost. Patients may have a second Fraxel repair as early as 4 to 6 months after their initial treatment.

    Dr. Persky

  • once again thankyou Dr. Perskey for the information.

  • OMG, what the? the first rule to follow after fraxel is to AVOID EXPOSURE TO LIGT AT ALL COSTS! The ridiculous sun burn was totally preventable.

  • Hi VIP,

I agree, we stress to patients to avoid the sun after Fraxel repair. Marta did not get sun burn, her redness is from the laser treatment. She is in sunlight during this brief segment, but she was actually very compliant with our post treatment instructions. Be well. Dr. Persky

  • Hi Marta , my name is Maureen , i am seriously considering the repair , i live in ft lauderdale , do u recommend the whole face ? my dr quoted me for the eyes & mouth 4,500 for the face 3000 for eyes & mouth , what do u recommend ? can i ask what u paid ? thanx for your vid , Maureen in Florida

  • Hi Maureen,

I would recommend treating your whole face, and even your neck to get the best tightening results. Good luck and be well.

    Dr. Persky

  • OMG. If I had this done tomy skin I'd be scared for life. I have med-dark Latin Skin.. and I had some other type of fraxel laser on my skin that turned it dark for over a year... it's just now fading. What do you recommend Dr Persky for olive skin. Oh by the way, I used to be a patient of yours. LOL

  • Hi take it,

Drop by the office for a complimentary consultation as to what would be best for you.

    Dr. Persky

  • Talleyho12,

Aside from the thicker eyebrows (courtesy of pencil) Fraxel re:pair "did" smooth my neck, evened my facial complexion and "opened" my eyes. I no longer have to wear facial makeup, only sunblock and moisturizer. With Dr. Persky's expert handling of the Fraxel re:pair laser, it was like having a mini face, neck and eye lift without the cutting. It's pretty amazing and totally worth it! No tricks here. It's all the real deal! Even I'm surprised at how good it looks!

    Marta Waller

  • aparently fraxel repair grew her eyebrows thicker let her open her eyesevened her face out changes her neck complexion and styled her hair!

  • Hi Talleyho12,

Marta did have her hair done, does have eye make up, and lipstick in her post-op photo. She does not have any facial make up, only moisturizer. She is still a little red one month after her treatment. It took another 4 weeks for her skin to completely return to it's natural tint. Her "open" eyelids are from the Fraxel re:pair. Her face and neck changes are entirely from the treatment.

    Thank you for your comments.

    Michael A. Persky, MD, FACS

  • @talleyho12 Great observations Talley. She does have eye make-up, lipstick, and hair done by the same hairdresser that does Julie Andrews hair; all not results of Fraxel repair, but helpful. Her eyes "opening" is actually the most common benefit of the treatment. Thanks for your comments. Be well.

    Dr. Persky

  • why is her skin tone so much darker on the "after" picture? does the fraxel re:pair cause hyper-pigmentation?

  • Hi Tonksify,

Marta's fair skin took about 7 to 8 weeks to return to it's normal color. She recently had a second treatment in which it took about 4 weeks for her skin to return to normal.

Thank you for your observation and comments.

    Michael A Persky, MD

  • shit ! horrible this is the CO2

  • Hi Econ,

Patients use the word "Wow", not the word that you used. This is a fractionated CO2, not "the CO2" that you refer to.

    Thanks for your comments.

    Dr. Persky

  • Stay away from the sun!!!!!!!

  • haha...yeah she meant it looks scarier! and it does.

she looks amazing in the end of that all!

  • At the end of her video segment Marta says that "it's a lot scarier than it is", having meant to say "it looks a lot scarier than it is".
