I think Google Translate is more of a thing to be used as a guideline, and not as a lifeline to foreign speakers. It's problem comes from the fact that 1. it uses formal language most, if not all, of the time, and 2. there are problems with the grammar sometimes.

One of the big problems that this translator doesn't put into consideration is the grammar.

Some languages follow the idea of Subject-Object-Verb while other follow the Subject-Verb-Object (and so on).

When translating, Google doesn't rearrange it. This is only good - if at all - for one word translations.
