No she was 7 when she started skating, she only skated for about 2 years, although she was very talented I just didn't have the money to continue her skating and I am just her sister not her parent so it was harder for me. She is now 17, can't believe its been 10yrs already. But your never to old to start!

her arabeskes arnt that good she leans to far forward , but that is somthink you pick up as a bad habbit so try and get her to ( of ice ) pratice arabescs with her back as strat as it can be up to the sky and it should work ! xx

She only skated for a short time, just under 2yrs. She is now 16 years old and no longer skates. I am her older sister, she skated while I worked at the rink. She didn't want other members of the family to take her to the rink due to knowing there would be judgment and so on. So sadly she gave it up. Also at that age I could not continue to afford the high cost of a figure skaters career.

i like it! it's too bad she quit, she obviously has some talent. i'm 16 and i started skating not too long ago, and i'm surprised how far i've gotten in less than a year, though i have nothing but a pair of cheap $20 skates from amazon. so it's not too late for her to start again =).

Just saw your post and wanted to ask you something. Are you a coach? I am traing at the rink now and started skating less than 2 yrs ago. I wanted to ask you how to stay in 1 spot when doing a corkscrw spin. My old skating teacher just left for Canada and my new coach says that i should not be doing a corkscrew spin because my shoulders are not straight, but i have been learning it plus sit spins ! He says that i should focus on a 2 foot spin. How can i prove that i am good enough? Thank you.

you need to spin on the "centered" part of your skate just below the toe-pick. pick up your shoulders then and i'm guessing you meant "scratch spin"? If you can do a 2 foot spin then pick up 1 foot okay, but if not, then work on it until you can.

I stopped working for the skating rink and I was the one paying for all her skating. Our mom refused to pay for it after she got last place in her last compitition even though she'd won first and 2nd in all her other ones and she didn't want mom to be the one to take her to practice because she was to hard on her.

She did have a coach but we could only affored minimal coaching. However her coach at the time was the best coach in the midwest. Those are not some of her best stuff just only stuff I had on cam.

Well she wouldn't really let us touch her hair unless it was to compete. She loved having it long and down think she thought it was pretty. Her spirals were always well noted by the judges for someone her age and her level of Freestyle 1 to have such a great spiral.
