@Elfkes when i type airmong-ng it should say interface chipset driver in the first line as a tittle and the second line it should tell me the actual interface and more... like in this video, right? But i dont get any secound line, in other words, it doesnt tellme the name of my interface to continue with this tutorial. I tough this is what is happening to you too.

only one question:

If I understand good, it's possible to hack network only if here are interchange of data packets, I mean that you need to have at least one computer connected to current AP station, isn't it? and if AP only is switch on,without any connected PC, the Data everytime is 0 and U can't do nothing! sorry for my english,if something is badwrited:)

hey ive been trying to get my wifi card to work with backtrack4 on both my laptop and my PC, but alls it says is no wireless networks found. and when i try to start hacking a wep protected connection it says failed no such device/// why is this? i tried to update my drivers in backtrack and it doesnt make a differance. i have atheros AR5B91 card in laptop and a belkin broadcom in my pc. i get over 20 signals in windows and none in backtrack. if you can help that would be great. thanks in advance

Heya. Doin aireplay isn't bringing back a fragment, after a while it says "still nothing, try another packet?" and saving a replay ".cap" file. I have let it run and hitting Y for more tries, still no fragment file.

Any ideas?

@darkangelcloud7 A USB adapter would work if it has the right chipset. I've been using an Alfa Networks USB adapter for WEP cracking and Backtrack for ages.

Hey so I got it booted up and everything. The problem I'm having is right at the beginning, when I type in " airmon-ng" it should tell me the chipset and everything like yours says wlan0. Mine is blank and doesn't have anything where yours is, does this mean I don't have a compatible wifi reader or something? I'm using a Toshiba Satellite laptop with wifi capability. Please help.

Don't think it should matter, your booting BT instead of W7. have you tried newer version of BT (BT4)? What kinda errors do you get? you can msg me for help if you need.

Well i get no errors it just doesn't boot to up to the desktop screen were i should see knsole and all that good stuff..it basically just sits on a blank screen every time i choose an option...

BT is live CD , for your protection he is not using your HDD ( only if you express whant you may use HDD / or to instal on HDD like an usual OS ). If you get with this on lan or internet and you test some of the cool stuff .... you may spend some years away ... better to test on a WM

It's always better to know how to run through the commands manually, than to have a tool do it completely automatic for you. Once you have a full understanding of how it work and the tools involved, by all means, use a automated tool. I prefer doing it this way though, you have more control, and you know whats going on.

This is only command for start reading ivs packets. You captured this packets before and now you ll use them for cracking wep kye. They have the most important information for hack. In my case the command looks like aircrack-ng A-01.ivs ( where A is name of my AP ).

Many cards are not supported out of the box, you likely need to manually patch your driver. This can be difficult for someone without a good background in gnu/linux or computers in general. If you go to the Aircrack wiki you'll be able to see if your card is supported or needs a patch. Alternatively you could also buy a new card that works out of the box in USB form. ~Goodluck
