GY6 Longbo Chinese Scooter Knocking Problem - rocker cover?

i have this scooter and today the motor locked up on it, we werent even able to manually turn the variator with a torque wrench! im guessing the piston is locked up on a valve?

EX on the rocker cap. is always to the Exhaust.

My bike started doing exactly the same thing, pulled the head off and found the valve seat would pop out hanging the valve up the same way.

Last September I tried to do the valve adjustment and it ended up costing me a couple hundred dolars to fix. ***********So people do NOT try this yourself unless you really know what you are doing!!!

That is correct, the rocker arm is tapping because the clearance is not correct. Use the feeler gauge and set at .004 exhaust and intake. Make sure to do this once the engine is cool. Also changing your oil is crucial this will keep the engines from burning. This is the number one reason chinese scooters don't last. Poor information.

@techworkbyjohn make sure u change all ur fluids get that cheap chinese oil out of there and replaced with better american oil, also u should go over ur wiring make sure all connections r plugged in good and check and tighten any lose bolts. main problems r the exaust and rear wheel but other then that if u keep regular maitnince like oil changes and so on. u can get good dependability out of them i got 8,000 miles on my Wildfire 150 still runs good.

This problem is rather old. I've fixed it since. :) The problem was that I had bent one of the valves, so the rocker would push it down, it wouldn't spring back up, then the piston would smack the valve and hit it back up. UGH!

So yeah, it's fixed now. If your rocker is doing what this video is doing, make sure you haven't bent a valve. :)

my gy6 engine just slams to a stop and wont start .

i also have the same problem the valves are fine my dad thinks its the piston rod thare are no marks on the pistion that would tell me that the valves are hiting

i have the same problem, and the rocker cover is okay installed that way... the E goes down for exhaust, dont turn it upside , just fix the valve clearance, I post you a personal message because I didnt knew you had this video but with this I think you will fix my scooter too....

yes we have the full manual for these engines, your rocker cover is installed right side up, and ex does stand for exhaust

what u need to do is get a gauge for your valve clearance and you usually have to set it between 3 and 5, we do 4 whre you can barely move the rocker arms, that will most likely cut down on the knocking but yeah good luck with it, we hardly ever have luck with these engines, keeps burning oil after like 4 different piston installs, lol

@psyfertech do you have  a way to send the manual. no start on scooter for 6 months and cannot find a manual. the engine turns over but will not start with battery charged and a new belt.

@psyfertech i aint had no problems with my wildfire 150 with the gy6 engine and believe it or not but i got it last year used 5 yrs old still had cheap china spark plug in it and from how dirty and burnt smelling the oil was plus the metal peices u usally find in ur oil filter from brake in was there i dont believe the ex owner never even did any maitnence on it at all but i bought it with about 4500miles on it and its still running with 8000 Knock on wood lol
