  • HIT EM GODFATHER, HIT EM HARD! The world may never see anyone that entertained like James Brown. His voiced projected the raw soul of the church. He could glide across a stage as if he were on ice skates, and he was backed by some of the best musicians ever assembled. He was truly a pioneer in promoting Black pride, a true showman, he would give his audiences all that he had to give. James influenced many entertainers...the world should thank God for the gift of Mr. Brown

  • THEM PEOPLE WAS IN SHOCK AT SEEING A BLACK MAN SO LIBERATED AND FREELY EXPRESSING NOT ONLY HIS PRIDE AS A BLACK MAN BUT AS A DAZZLING SEXUAL CONFIDENT ENTERTAINER...

  • performance shocking like white lightning up a black snakes ass,SICK MAN SICK'

  • @brotherap, I think In0tNa was referring the length of the video clip being too short rather than JB's height.

  • the only weaknees point : Too short !

  • @In0tNa "the only weaknees point :Too short !"

Too short for who & what??You can't find a tall MF in history that had the agility, reflexes, to move as rhythmically & soulfully as James Brown. That Tall bulls*** was a phony Hollywood invention for viewer consumption, couch potato saps watching TV. It only applied to so called romantic leading men under contract. Half of them turned out to be tall, handsome, and homosexual. Excuse me, if that may have been exactly what you were looking for!

  • Some awe stuck white people

  • Notice The 2 Drummers thats where Earth Wind & Fire got the idea......

  • Sgt Bilko was the emcee that night on Hollywood Palace!! LOL ... amazing.

  • damn james went off

  • BLACK POWER!!!!!! OH YEAH; MICHAEL JOSEPH JACKSON'S TALENT RIGHT HERE; YEAH BABY!!!!!! SAY IT LOUD! I'M BLACK AND I'M PROUD!!!!

  • Hell yeah! James Brown looking handsome here!

  • Phil Silvers. From Vaudeville to Funk! RIP both of them: JB and PS. PS made us laugh. JB made us get up offa that thing.

  • Awesome entertainer

  • Holy crap! So thats why his called MrDynamite :O

  • Wow, what are those things they're holding on stage, oh that's right...they're Instruments. And what is that thing James Brown is singing into. That's right, It's a microphone. No AutoTune no Lip Synching. Thank God for preserving Real Music

  • .... and THAT is how the Moonwalk was born!

  • JB called his walk the camel walk which is like the opposite of the moonwalk.

  • @PrayerCoach The Camel Walk HAS NOTHING TO DO with THE MOONWALK.

  • James Brown is the Godfather! No one will ever be as talented.

Wow, this is the lamest audience in the history of audiences. If that had been Elvis you can bet they would've been more appreciative.

  • @Africana3789 i agree....ol racist jeslous of our talent (im suspectin that ur black??)

  • @hottlei lol, yes I'm Black

  • @Africana3789 lol ok jus makin sure

  • the Godfather ya'll. There should be 120 million hits instead of 120 thousand. This is the MASTER in action. And boy look out at the 1:02 mark when we see him do .....THE JAMES BROWN.......... RIP godfather.

  • Why are the YT People just sitting there ?????

LOL....It's like they are in shock

If this was the Apollo in Harlem, My tribe would be swinging from the chandeliers....

  • @katofromgreenhornet ajhahahahahaha i was just thinking the same thing, being a bboy doesnt help either id be breakdancing in the aisles!! that goes for any bboy shit, open up that cypher quick!

  • the master

  • He destroys Michael Jackson with that backward, forward, one legged sideways, skating off the stage moonwalk....MJ has got NOTHING on James Brown

  • I THINK WE HAD SO MUCH TALENT BACK THEN THAT THERE IS NO ROOM FOR ANY MORE & THAT'S MUSIC TODAY IS DEAD NOT DYING IT'S DEAD. BACK THEN THERE WAS HEART & SOUL & UNDENIABLE A GREAT TALENT THAT WASN'T FORCE UPON PEOPLE AS TODAY'S SO CALLED ARTIST & MUSIC IS. TODAY THE RECORD EXEC'S DON'T WANT TALENT THEY WANT A QUICK MONEY MAKER & THAT'S WHY THINGS ARE THE WAY THINGS ARE TODAY. BACK THEN MUSIC SOOOOOOOTHES THE TIRED SOUL FROM ALL THAT WAS GOING ON & NOW NOTHING IS SOOTHING TO LISTEN TOO.

  • Lets not forget Cab Calloway and his moves everyone. Legends build upon legends.

  • @rickzters Cab Calloway,,all he did was sway back and forth. NOW JACKIE WILSON that's another story.

  • I can't believe the audience are sitting down - they look dead. James Brown must have wondered what the heck he was doing on this programme.

  • @AshleyMarkPomeroy probaly if not all mostly white audience

  • Soul, the black mans gift to mother earth. super bad.

  • Comment removed

  • i am going to play this to my unborn children

  • THE MAN!

  • I booked JAMES BROWN into THE DIOCEAN ARENA in Steubenville,Ohio in the mid 60's. The crowd was reluctant to come in until they knew James was there as Ray Charles had done a NO SHOW the year before (it was the night after he was busted for drugs in Indianapolis) When James did get there the crowd poured in. We still weren't making expenses. He told me "DON'T BOOK ME IN LITTLE TOWNS LIKE THIS" he also told his road manager to knock off $2000 of the balance due. I will never forget that.

  • The Phil Silvers Show 1968

  • @Duppysoursap ,Hve you even heard Gene Chandlers version,I bet you havent have you.

  • @lispecial200 man quit pushing that Gene Chandler's version it's not even in the same ballpark as Mr.James Brown's OG version Please stop this Beat is uncut, raw pure Funk at it's Best, James Brown's Band Thee Greatest on point.....

  • @lispecial200 PissPour Imitation !!

  • @lispecial200 - Don't be ridiculous. Gene Chandler is like a baby and James Brown is a grown man. Not even comparable, laughable actually!

  • @PaulDA2000 YOU GOT THAT RIGHT!! I've never understood "COPYCATS"

  • mtopper66 I totaly agrie keep it funky

  • The real deal and I agree this is one of the greatest funk grooves ever .. not that I should know as I am a white guy who doesn't like funk much. I heard the original song (better than this) in the 70s (but it was probably released in 1968) and it blew me away. My mom always wake me up and called me downstairs when James would be on Johny Carson or anytime he was on TV.

  • I would like to gather all singers and dancers of today in one room...and just laugh at them...because one man did what all of them cant even do combined!!!

  • @ikedirty318 - Oh my! Finally someone who knows the truth!! James Broiwn was indeed the greatest entertianer of all time!

  • I would like to gather all singers and dancers of today in one room...and just laugh at them...because one man did what all of them cant even do combined!!!

  • He sure knew how to make an exit.

  • with moves like that, JB would've beaten Peggy Fleming for the Ice Skating Gold Medal in the Winter Olympics that year (1968)

  • Huh....he was the original moonwalker.

  • James Brown Is Gigging like a Mutha Fucka you feel me...sorry for the french....Tha Beast...

  • Greatest performer of the 20th century!

  • @yusefendure - I TOTALLY agree!

  • he is unbeatable.

  • man hes gotta be hottttttttttttt

  • Amazing.

The Floor said "You will stand."

    James Brown said "No."

  • The Best Exit in the history of show biz. The man was on roller skates. JB fans gotta check out JBs Greatest Dance Moves Ever on youtube, ITs FREAKIN INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!! TRUST ME!!!!!!

  • OMFG, those moves are incredible. The outfit the hair the moves and the motherfucking voice. James Brown is King.

  • max...excellent performance..lokk the way he ends up...am sure the crowd was so unfamiliur with those type of music an ddancing at that time as it was so new to them.

  • Now I know Im too young to have seen Hollywood Palace when it was on, but is it just me or did the audience always seem subdued during the performance?

  • it's because this is a white crowd back in 1968 James Brown was new to this lame older group because James Brown was seriously getting down....R&B Beast

  • I had the opportunity to see both JB and MJ perform live. I would describe JB as electrifying on stage and Michael exciting. When JB performed there was nothing choreographed by a choreographer as with MJ but just pure raw dancing motivated by good funky music. Best performer ever in terms of pure raw funk and dance hands down Mr. Dynamite himself JAMES BROWN.

  • It looked like JB act wasn't choreographed, but not shame it was to some extent. He was just some awesome it looked liked it just flowed from him. Kind of like a great actor looks like their just talking. But I tend to agree with. But JB never went out on stage without a plan. All the way down to his cape covering bit.

  • Side note....check out the girl dancing in the back ground

  • That female in the Video is Straight Giging.....

  • so true!

  • Man, I love his band from this period.

  • Does anyone notice as soon as James Brown spins from the mic, it seems as if he is moonwalking a little bit??!!! AWESOME dancer!

  • We all learned to moonwalk from James Brown. It wasn't called moonwalking then.

  • James Brown is the overall influence to Hip Hop. RIP James Brown.

  • ice skatin champion of "68". Original. ONE AND ONLY
