I'll tell you the English word for it, Maggots. Yuck. :) Guess you didn't have as many mosquitoes as you thought. Maybe those other things were biting you.
I don't know if this is a global standard, but in Italy we call this kind of mosquitos "tiger mosquito": they are smaller than usual mosquitos, they have lined back, they more aggressive and, unlike the normal mosquitos, they don't lost their sting after bite (so they can bite again and again and again).
@shallyanna I'm completely sure. Italian normal mosquitoes lose their stingers after bite, that's why they cannot transmit diseases through their bites (but tiger mosquitoes can). While males typically feed on nectar and fruit, females need to obtain nutrients from blood before they can produce eggs and, after having deposited, die. I don't know if in other countries "different regular mosquitos" have different "habits".
I do the same thing for house flies. Except I use some dog shit, some pieces of fish guts. Flies love it! I use a two liter bottle, FULL of flies in three weeks!! Of course.... Put it out doors!!
@nicomambo I believe those legless brown things, are mosquito eggs, you can verify by checking the vid on - mosquito species & reproduction. The eggs must come into contact w/ water, to hatch. So the trap Did Work, and saved then from an infestation

@maxparsifal I don't think normal mosquitoes lose their stingers. I think you're referring to bees, bees loose their stingers when they sting.

Thanks for this video. I also saw that website showing how to make a mosquito trap. At least I don't have to waste my time confirming if it works.
1 mosquito, several maggots, unknown insects...I would say it failed as a mosquito trap.
