This is easily one of the best character themes. It's just too bad that the developers made one of the most compelling characters in the game one of the weakest party members in battle.

@SubReikoPy That's the problem...Magic is overpowered in the later parts of the game (you have access to Flare, Meteor, Ultima, etc.) and Cyan happens to have the lowest Magic Power in the game. All he has left going for him is Swordtech, which is slow and usually inferior to Blitz, Tools, Lore, Rage, Magic, or other skillsets.

I really like Cyan, but he is definitely not the best character in battle (unless you let him hog all the best equipment or something like that).

@MrL1193 In that point you are right, But Cyan was the last one to attack in my team so when the other ones where attacking the Swordtech of Cyan is charging. All strategically.

@SubReikoPy Yes, it works reasonably well to do that, and if you have Quick (even on a different character), you can charge Swordtechs for free. Cyan isn't terrible; he just fades a bit later on. He's still far superior to Umaro, though, and I do love to take him along for the Magitek Research facility. (I know Gau is much better there if he has the Anguiform Rage, but I'm not a fan of Gau in general, and Cyan can still pierce defense with Dispatch.)

Cyan's story is tragic into itself... He loses his family and kingdom to Kefka's treachery and he nearly loses himself in the process of defeating the villain responsible for the death of his loved ones and the loss of his honour. And well Cyan is determined to leave the past behind as you have seen in the game, thus it makes him one of the mightiest and strongest persons ever in any game....

Cyan is possibly the most tragic character in any video game ever. At the end, when they are all flying away from Kefka's tower, Cyan is the only one who has nothing and no one to go to. Terra has her orphanage, Edgar has his brother, everyone has someone, but not Cyan.

I find this theme quite sad and somber. This plays in the abandoned Doma Castle, a kingdom which has died and the last remnants are Cyan and the castle itself.

It's pronounced "sigh-an" (like "an" in the word "and"). Cyan is any blue-green color. The actual translation of his original name from Japanese, IIRC, was supposed to be Cayenne (yes, just as in "cayenne pepper"), but it was changed in the English version to Cyan, perhaps because of the character limit . . . somewhat ironic given that his original name represented one of the reddest things on Earth.

Every time I fly to Doma Castle to restore MPs in the bedroom, I always stick around a little bit longer to hear this whole song. It's one of my favorites in the whole game... It's just so great to hear an epic and uplifting song like this in the abandoned castle. It's like "Yeah, people died around here and Doma is nothing now, but it'll all get better one day! ^_^"

@Phnxkon in 9 it was much worse cause the cards could actually level up, and the stats were fairly confusing. the main issue in 8 with the card game i had was the rule sets in different regions (like random, plus, elemental, sudden death, etc.) all put together

I think its pretty neat that in the original Japanese version of Final Fantasy VI that Cyan was a samurai that spoke in archaic forms of formal Japanese, and that he was localized as a knight that spoke old English.

I don't know why, I just always found that intriguing.
