looking back on my impression of ecw at the time, i thought it was crappy, too. i was young, jaded and foolish. you're right, ecw has aged a whole lot better than what wcw was at the time. ecw didn't have much money compared to wcw, so they had to go all out. wcw had so much money it was as if they were sitting back and relaxing on it, and to keep the other promotions from surpassing them, they bought the talent from under them. at least the wwf had some appreciation for ecw.
Actually during that time they would share footage. For instance when Mick Foley was doing the life of Mankind interview with J.R. they used ECW footage for Cactus Jack.
