@earthlyme It's Vietnam. They weren't running from explosions, but rather running in the streets because napalm was being used. The girl in the image is Phan Thị Kim Phúc. There's lots of information available on it.

Too often people go to war and think of the monetary and political aspects, but they forget the innocent victims. While some people sit in their houses crying about the mound of homework or paperwork or housework they have to do, there are innocent children who are crying for stability in a war-torn area. These poor souls don't know if they or their family will see the morning light or if they'll be killed in their sleep. Say a prayer for the innocent, overlooked victims of war, the children.

This song is so powerful. my favorite part when i sang this in my Ac choir was during the oh's where we, the altos, would move and make a bunch of minor chords but at the last one, reslove to a major. Breathtaking.

i absolutely LOVE this song. there's no song that is better then this. it has more meanings then anything else in this world. everything about it is just amazing.

and the choir sounds wonderful too. i LOVE it when choirs sing it and when they get to the chorus they sing the phrase "crying jesus help me"... and between jesus and help there is a pause and a gathering of the feelings and words. it makes me cry everytime. absolutely fantastic.
