@12341896 It's the same finishing move he had in MK1. Liu Kang valued his rival's life and refused to kill them. In MK1 if you did this, the screen wouldn't darken either.
Though this is also his X-Ray attack in Mortal Kombat 9 and the uppercut pretty much smashes their face off. Then as they're falling he lands a side kick in the exact same spot. So lethal or not, it's not something you want to get hit by.
