@CrackersNGlu You seem like an incredible idiot. This was meant to be unsettling. Either way, it is not representative of his other works. Almost all of his movies are different from each other.
To whoever asked me the actor playing Dickens was 25 when this film was made and the girl was ten. I feel sorry for both the characters in this film, especially Dickens. The stories about his childhood and just generally the way he is actually breaks my heart. Its the first time i have seen it and i am not too sure where it is going but it is one of my favorites so far. Terry Gilliam, what a legend. And the acting is amazing. Just a brilliant film all round.
At the end of this movie when the train explodes I think I realized that Del, Dickens ect. were no more than imaginings like Mystique and the heads. And that J. Rose made these personalities and therefore was in fact, Dickens, found an explosive and set it on the tracks herself. It would make a lot of sense at the very end when her eyes are fantasic and sparkly but have the vague hauting of menace.
Interesting i had similar thoughts after watching the film thinking what if everyone was just something she was imagining and she was really there all by her self the entire time.
I don't know why Dickens mother does not adopt this girl? After all, they both have the rotting corpses of their respective parents sitting at home now. You'd think something as familiar as that would bring those families together in the spirit of communal identity.
I figure they could have a "marriage ceremony" and marry the girl's decaying corpse dad with the lady's decaying corpse mom. One big happy family, oh wait, they'd have to dig up a preacher.
