I can see the point you're trying to get at, but the DNA/evolution metaphor just does not work. The real issue, (which you fail to mention) is that it took hundreds of years for religion in the west to slowly adapt to social change, (and still is really really slow, eg allowing condoms in africa). Yet because we expect other religions to adapt instantly. Is it any wonder they resist so much when the moral failings of capitalism are so apparently obvious?

I don't think the divinity "wants" to be "worshipped". Prayer is an act where a person remembers the divine. Ofc-ourse, rememberance of divinity should be a free will act. Also, have you ever cared to look at "muslim countries".. Qatar, UAE, Kuwait etc... these places are far from being stuck in the middle ages. In fact these countries are lot more modern than many Western countries. Muslims don't live in tents in the dessert. If you want to look at Iraq or Afghanistan and say... 'This is how Muslim counties live' ..then you must also look at an undeveloped country in Africa, who's population is mainly Christian, and say, 'this is how christian countries live'.

I could not agree more with this video. The absence of an Enlightenment within Islam is the biggest problem facing the religion. This era allowed science, plurality, modern economics - in other words, the Enlightenment brought us the modern era.
More importantly, it allowed for a critical look at the dominant religion and broke that religion's stranglehold on the culture. Islam lacks all of these.

the bit about the Nobel Prize, I don't know if that's fair to bring up in lieu of DNA, since as far as I know, the Nobel Prize committee does not give the award based on dna, (there are many factors). The inaccuracy of this whole segment is based on it's outside and ignorent view that the Muslims = Arab society. More Asians work in the science and math professions than western euro or Americans anyways. The problem lies not so much in Islam, but in corrupt societies, where extremism is an appeal
