  • hi. do you think this set whit coil spliting can sound that good on a gibson sg?

  • I have a JB Pickups for my stratocaster is nice sound on it I luv Seymour Duncan pickups I have Zebra pickups

  • are zebra humbuckers black and white or black and cream?

  • @ralfcaetano black and cream, the ones with the white bobbins are special order

  • o.o que tesão esses captadores! ,gostei

  • how do these pick ups sound clean?? like REALLY clean?

  • If the pickup has a 4 lead wire, can you connect it to a guitar without coil tap or anything that splits it? A guitar that's stock pickups are 2 lead wire not 4.

  • @purplepineapple117

Yes, it can be done, no problem. I have an Epiphone that I changed the pickups on, and the pickups I put in were 4-conductor, but I don't have any coil tap or splitting capabilities. It will work just fine, but you can always rewire things so you have the option.

  • I don't get tired of your playing Andy, I can watch you playing all day long!

  • Seymour vs Dimarzio anyone ?

  • with the JB work with texas special single coils? I have a strat, but would like to install a humbucker in the bridge. any thoughts? looking for something gainy

  • @flyingmonkeysquad Pearly gates goes good with a strat style guitar. Not sure about the JB

  • 9-5-8-5-9-5-8-5-9-5-8-5

hit the keys in that order for an alien-like weird sound

  • Classic hard rock sound! Put this set in my guitar and I absolutely love it.

  • beginning-acdc's sin city?? XDD

  • @hangen1 actualy is AC/DC´s girls got ryhthm

  • because I wanted to change the pickup to my traditional, which features the 57 'classic's, with the Seymour Duncan Alnico 2 pro, I wanted to know if I made a good buy or not I ought to

  • what are the settings for clean part, karma police mainly ._.

  • Looking change up my main guitar tone. I play through a Peavey Classic 50 with the basic pedal configuration. Stuck on Jb/jazz or Super Distortion/Paf(dp103). I mainly play aggressive rock 'n roll. Any suggestions?

  • U know im about to buy these for my strat style guitar. Its a Laguna model. i like the sound and i play a lot of rock, but these are really popular with les pauls. so do u think this would be a good match>?

  • how do you split the pick up on a LP? :0

  • @berlin30081992 You need a guitar with the proper circuitry to be able to do coil splitting, like a Traditional Pro.

  • seymour duncans with a marshall amp???come on use a mesa/boogie

  • what seymour duncans are good for thrash metal? besides the blackouts.

  • @punk4life1029 sh-13 dimebucker dime was a thrash guitarist remember

  • Nice Duncan's

  • What does it mean to be Hot Rodded?

  • @soopa96 I think like suped-up

  • Great demo. That ZZ riff is way to compressed with this combo. I prefer the 59's, to me the JB is like squeezing the tone out like toothpaste, wile the 59 is like pouring the tone out of a bottle. another great pickup now is the DiMarzio 56. It has less string pull to help your sustain.

  • I've bought a lot of these sets and the only complaint I've had with is they are evidently designed only for non-trem guitars because they don't offer the JB in a trem spaced in the set. All of them are standard spaced.

  • @rmxrider20032000 - Sure they do! The trem-spaced JB model is the TB-4. Thanks!

    -PGS Crew

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos In the Hotrod set?

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos Not in the set.

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos I've got a TB-4 lying around here. I don't know much about "trem-spaced" stuff. But do you mean the TB-4 is just like an SH-4 but trem-spaced. (and what exactly is "trem-spaced")

I also got an SH-2n is there a difference with an SH-2 without that last 'n'? Because I don't really find much about it. Thanks for your time. You guys make great reviews and it's the first time I see your face in stead of only hearing your voice in a video :O

  • @16YearsInHell - The TB-4 is the trem-spaced version of the SH-4. "Trem-spaced" means that pole pieces are spaced properly for a guitar with a tremolo, as opposed to a hardtail. It could also be thought of as Fender spacing vs. Gibson spacing. The "n" at the end of the pickup model number indicates that it's intended to be a neck pickup. Seymour Duncan's site has all the info about every pickup they make, including sound samples. It's an excellent resource. Thanks!

    -PGS

  • thx for the review very helpful

    PGS, the best for reviews

  • Would these fit nice on a SG?

  • @augusrockhouse23 They would kick ass on an SG.

  • @augusrockhouse23 Of course they would!

  • karma police!

  • Best reviews on YouTube. THANKS!!!

  • man that Jazzy riff hit the Spppooooottt ;)

  • Hi PGS how would these pickups sound in an Epiphone Les Paul PRO FX? I really dont like the stock epiphone pickups.

  • Marshall 1987xl amp?

  • Be that 'Karma Police' I hear? :D

  • :D

i have seymour duncan SH-1 pushpull pot pickups!

  • karma police :)

  • His tone would be better off if he actually used a pick...

  • @SkidRow2341 We know this to be false. Andy sounds the same with or without a pick.

    -PGS Crew

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos Wow if thats true, then thats a skill! Well keep given great reviews! Thanks

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos what marshall head do you use? i'd also like to ask what potentiometer do someone need for theese pickups

  • @SkidRow2341 so your saying jeff beck would also sound better?

  • been around the world, seen a million girls

  • hey andy

do your fingers ever hurt cus you don't use a pick

  • id like to hear these pickup on a normal, affordable amp, not a big ass marshall, or a fender like in the his demonstration

  • dont you think a fender twin will make six lengths of rusty wire sound good

Also a Marshall will overdrive anything.

My Les Paul Std makes my Line 6 Flextone 111 sound fkin brill with standard pickups.

  • A fantastic pickup combo. I have them in my Gibson SG, with a push/pull. Incredible tonal variety, as you can hear in this video. I play without a pick, so the slight brightness of the Jazz really works to keep the articulation. I'd recommend them to anyone, playing any style.

  • i'm thinking in buying these pickups but i have a question: since they are high output does that mean that they have crapy clean sound? i play on a Vintage VRS100 (PRS imitation) and the music style i play is from Queens of the stone age to Nirvana, Kyuss, Led Zeppelin...

    could someone help me please?

  • i see he uses very nice affordable equipment here... im sure we all have this stuff........

  • whats the song at 2:48 ?

  • @isaialv karma police-radiohead

  • Meh peavey amps are better anyway

  • Is this a good choice for a Jackson Dinky ?

  • @Blowmint These come as stock in the DK2M, I just got mine a few days ago :) I love the JB, hot rodded a cheap strat with one last year and loved it then, still love it in my new Jackson. As for the Jazz, I love it for cleans, it's a bit weak for the kind of leads I play (heavy metal) but clean-wise, I've never played a better neck humbucker :) hope I helped.

  • I wanna get these for my Epiphone SG special :D

Good idea, no? The set seems pretty affordable to me.

  • @kennytheamazing I am doing this to my Epi SG. Just upgrade the pots because the stock pots are pretty weak and you won't hear that much of a difference from the stock. At least that is what was recommended to me. I am throwing a 5 way switch into the package too, to get that split coil options. It is going to be the unassuming epi sg with swiss army capabilities.

  • Wonder why people like Dimazzio so much .

  • SEYMOUR DUNCAN = THE BEAST PICKUPS EVER!

  • seymour duncan vs dimarzio. who wins?

can someone explain to me more about pickup brands? ive got stocks on my guitar and i have no idea of different pickup brands. the sounds?

  • @punkiassjunki seymour duncan and dimarzio and emg are pretty much the big pickup brands. They are all great and used by pro musicians, but i matters on what u have and like to hear. i think gibson guitars go best with seymour duncan, because it will give you a nicee warm tone . dimarzio i like with ibanez, and emg for heavy metal, but it matters on what u want, what kind of guitar do u have?

  • Everything sounds good in combo with this guitar and amp

  • AC/DC !! AWEEEBO!! YEAH!!! GIRLS GOT RHYTHM!!

  • i can play girl's got rythem too!

  • KARMA POLICE

  • Dose anyone know the size of height/mounting screw size? Or they come with they own?

  • what do you think hiwatt higain is compared to plexi in distortion wise

  • Humbucker!? I hardly know her!

  • will the covered pickups sound different than the uncovered ?

  • This is the best combo. I have them in every les paul I have ever owned. Can't beat em.

  • these sound hotter than the 490r 498t by gibson?

  • does this set works ok in a hollow body guitar???

  • 2:49 That's Karma Police:D

  • what pickups would be best for modern rock but they have to clean up when you turn your guitar volume down? they don't have to be seymour duncan but that would be nice

  • hey which seymour duncan humbuckers are good for rock and metal and all kinds of high gain?

  • @inhuman96 Alnico 2 pro (Original or Slash models) or Blackouts you should check out the duncam website to check out all duncan's pickups

  • @inhuman96

duncan invader in bridge - duncan distortion in neck

  • @inhuman96 Dave Mustaine used this combination. So you CAN play metal with this pickups.

  • .....

  • So would it be better to buy a Jazz pickup and a JB pickup. or say a set of Seymour Duncan's Slash model pickups?...for a LTD-ESP, if it matters.

and dose the JB do decent clean tones?

  • wat was the song at 1:34. was that kiss??

  • Comment removed

  • Huge Money is not worth to buy expensive pick up.

  • Without a comparison to the stock humbuckers I really can't figure out if I do want this change in tone.

  • will this combination definitely improve the sound of my les paul standard? I kinda feel like there's something missing, but am afraid of wasting money on something that wont really change much. I'm officially a strat player, and not too knowledgeable when it comes to les pauls, all i can say is, my hss deluxe strat just has a much fuller bridge pickup. I'd really appreciate the help

    louis.

  • how do you coil split

  • @MegaFenderstrat put yer pickup switch between two pickups

  • @FLAMINGSTRINGZ Not necessarily. Only if your guitar is wired that way. Normal middle position in a Les Paul is not coil split, I think.

  • Great review. Thanks. Just got a set to put in a PRS replacing the Dragon IIs to try and get some proper rock vibe into what has always seemed a rather clinical guitar to me.

  • hes playing radiohead hes playing radiohead!! ya!! :)

  • Just had a SD Pearly Gates SHPG-1 fitted to my Ibanez AS73-TCR. LOVE IT!!!!

  • i like Alnico II Pro's better

  • sweet, I'm sold...I will be picking these up tomorrow. Thanks!

  • do you recommend this humbucker set for basswood?

  • @avillesoccer7 sure i thru em in my ibanez grg170dx and it sounds a whole lot better... but anything beat the cheap ceramic magnet pups that came with the guitar :0

  • i hear some Radiohead.

  • I know you guys don't make demos just because someone ask you to but could you demo the Seymour Duncan Sh-3 Stag Mag pickup seems like a really cool pickup

and cool pickup set by the way

  • if its a maonegny ( sorry bad spelling ) and not chamberd

and a set neck or neck through

and loaded with duncans it should be a great sounding guitar dont forget its not always the pick ups the wood also differs the sound

  • so if i take this to guitar center they would be able to coil split ?

  • This Humbucker are suitable for a guitar Hohner SE 35?

  • how do you split the coils?

  • sorry i dont know to much of seymour duncan but i hear they are awesome so, which pickups if best for have a power distorcion and a good clean sound ? i hope you can help me thanks

  • Hey andy! your'e a guitar tone genious!, man, do you think these pickups can make a p-90 sound with the S.duncan triple shot mounting rings?

  • this PU's has less output than classic 57?

  • cheap sunglasses lol xD YES ANDY!!!

  • Fake, you playing on the neck every time!

  • is that karma police at 2:50? you just made my day, andy!

  • Massive sound!

  • This would be more helpful if he used equipment that like I don't know, normal people can afford.

  • @jonnyshredfayce 130 bucks isn't affordable enough? Anyone serious enough to swap their pickups can afford that.

  • @jonnyshredfayce by a blackheart hothead i did and im flying :)

  • @jonnyshredfayce

You don't have to put them in a gibson, it could be an epi or other cheaper guitar. You don't have to buy a top end amp either. He tests lots of gear for all different sizes of pockets, it's just this is what it says on the tin.... an SD bucker test. SD pickups are not hugely more expensive than others, you get what you pay for.

  • @jonnyshredfayce Get a job and save up like the rest of us, jag off. You want someone to just give it to you without earning it? Kids.

  • @jonnyshredfayce well it is called PROGUITARSHOP which probably means it for pro's

  • @jonnyshredfayce Like an Epiphone LP.

  • @jonnyshredfayce

I'm a struggling college student who managed to get a Gibson LP Custom with no hardware or electronics, demos like this help me gauge what kind of pickup I want to put into my guitar .

Its not how much money you have its how you use it, most Gibson owners pay what most people pay for Epiphones.

  • @jonnyshredfayce by "normal people" do you mean spending most of your meager income on weed?

  • @jonnyshredfayce

    yeah, no kidding.

  • @jonnyshredfayce yeah, youre right. that set.... well, 5000$? 7000$? great.......

  • Are these pickups good for hard rock rhythm?

  • @ShameofaNation Justin Bieber

  • What song is it at 3:40??

  • nice job Andy

  • you don't never play clean chords with neck position, middle and bridge..how can i understand how well the pick up match?

or what's the clean basic sound of the jazz or the jb?

  • the way this guy picks pisses me off lol.

  • Wasn't expecting to hear Karma Police in there!

  • Are you going to demo the new signature Seymour Duncans? Such as Fury set, Slash Alnico II Pro set.

  • What type of les paul is that? :O

  • would this setup be suitable for E-335?

  • I have this combo in my Ibby RGT42. My other RGT42 has a Full Shred (B) and a 59'er (N). That combo is smoking for anything! FYI, both are Mahogany bodies

  • Dimebuckers are really good for metal as well

  • what are some good seymour duncan pups for playing old school metal and classic rock??

  • Try the Invader. I use it on my start and its great.

  • @p9hunter Yes invader!

  • @GibsonGuitar66 The JB, the Pearly Gates, the Antiquity and the Seth Louver. All sound great for classic rock. My favorite are the Seth's. However I don't know if Seymour makes them anymore.

  • @4JayeP yeah they still make them just check thier website

  • Does it change the tone, or output of the pickup if you have pickup covers on?

  • The pickups sound more aggresive with the covers off and also helps keeps the noise level much quiet.

  • i think i made the right choice when i replaced the old pickups with these on my epiphone. my guitar should be ready tomorrow :)

  • What pickup do you recomend for Metal style ?

    thanks :)

  • Comment removed

  • @guky667 seymour duncan distortion set ;-)

  • Dimebag darrell SH13

  • SH5 for metal like iron maiden

    SH6, SH8, SH11, SH13,

in actves pickups: Blackout (but i prefer EMG 85-60)

  • yeah the sounds more to do with the amp, how and what you play not to mention the strings.. 13-64s with Eb to A tuning you'll have one hell of a metal sound.

pickups meant for metal I've played the willy wonka song pure imagination on it.. metal and nirvana inspired grunge on a knock off stratocaster with ALL single coils.. so its all you.

  • i like those hot rodded pick-ups cheers to seymour duncan and also welcome to yngwie malmsteen to the family

  • I really like the tone of the SH-2n, but I don't like the SH-4 JB.

  • @bfv102290 I agree...

  • I have these in my Roadster Jr Custom (by MJ Guitar Engineering). Ive had a ton of different pickup combination' s in my guitars through the years....This combination (JB/Jazz) gives me the most versatile tone range I have ever had...There isn't anything they cant pull off !!!

  • 1:46 cheap sunglasses ha XD

  • What does JB stand for?

  • Jeff Beck

  • 2:49 Karma Police!

  • which would some body reccomend

    2 gibson stock hummbucker

    or

    2 Seymour Duncan picks ups

    and one single coil?

  • what does coil split mean?

  • @dimeguyblade

If you use a push/pull pot you can split the coil and basically have a single coil sound.

  • @JedifuzzMojo How exactly do u activate the push pull pots once there installed?

  • Thanks. exactly the information i want!

  • are the hot rodded pickups good for metal?

  • in your opinion, are these at all suitible for metal?

  • if your lookin for passive pups

    duncan distortion/invader

    active duncan blackouts or emg

    81/85

  • i would go with an invador, synister gates uses it in his custom guitar and it sounds good.

for the neck i would go with an SH-1 '59 model

but not me im getting the dean signature MAB hands without shadows

if it is the price though that alters your decision most, then you might as well go with the Hot Rodded Humbuckers

  • @dacuriel its good, but metal require active pickups like EMG's or Blackouts by SD. the invader is also good

  • you dont have to have active pickups for metal the majority of metal players use passive.

  • i find the mids on the jb like 20% overwelming tho

  • How do you split the coils?

  • You have to wire it a certain way and get push/pull knobs in order to do the actual splitting.

There's plenty of wiring diagrams on the Duncan website that you can check out.

    Hope that helps!

  • Also were would i find the push and pull knobs and how do i install them?

  • great amp

  • that is a beautiful guitar

  • please make a vid of SEYMOUR DUNCAN "DISTORTION MAYHEM" SET.

    that'll be great :)

  • you should made more vids like this :) for strat also!
