i'd have to say burton is the best high marker of all time. he hasn't taken the best mark i've ever seen but the guy is better at taking screamers than van der har, knights, jezza, capper - all of them.
actually i think the best mark ive ever seen would have to be aaron edward's against the hawks in the 07 finals. i might be recent but it was an absolute beauty. second would have to be shaun smith's 1995 effort.
I'm sorry, but as a Crows fan who's followed the club since its inception, I have to disagree. I believe Modra was superior to Burton in terms of high-marking, since Burton drops around half the high marks he attempts. I honestly don't recall Modra dropping many!
Modra's mark in 1993 against North Melbourne (he kicked 10 goals in that 2-point thriller) was one of the best ever! Also, remember Gary Moorcroft's mark a few years back? That was unbelievable, especially for a small bloke!
no-one's forgetting moorcroft's mark soon. he was one of those guys that could take a great mark (aside from the obvious) and never really had a reputation for it. guess it's to do with his height. david bourke would also take classic screamers regularly and not really have the rep as a high flier so much.
modra's best mark (if you ask me) was his 1997 mark of the year on mick martyn. ive never really been all that impressed with his 93 one (yes it was great, but he took a couple better).
If you like these check out the one he took against Carlton on the weekend. Some are saying greatest mark ever (although there are plenty who would disagree)
his verticle leap is/was amaing. those marks were specky's of the highest terms :-) thanks for posting them.
