  • Really cool and unique video recording session. A real trip for a songwriter...Got to a blast.

  • what a badass video

  • "On my own dime" I'm guessing that was a $30,000 day once everyone was paid! Not that money is any object for him.

  • which you cant come into cause its porcelain. haha. thats funny

  • wish they went with the 5:16 jam.

  • HOLY CRAP look at all those pedals. Cornish, Lovetone, etc....great.

  • Check out my studio sneak preview!:)

  • This song is plagiarised from "The Wind Cries Mary" by Jimi Hendrix.

  • @AnonymousWhitePerson Please. This is SO not "Wind Cries Mary." Two different poisons completely.

  • @AnonymousWhitePerson stfu you fucking idiot

  • Is this from a TV program? Where did you find this?

  • robert cray - take your shoes off!!!!!

  • That groove at 5:10 is INSANE! Steve & Charlie should do a groove masterclass album.

  • No kidding!

  • Charlie is awesome!!.... He plays in the city (NY) all of the time. Go check him out!

  • i got to record there last june...such an awesome studio!

  • @ 5.:25 - sick bassline. gonna learn that now.

  • I think watching Hunter & Jordan just jam like that could make anyone, even John Mayer, piss his pants

  • I don't know, I miss his long hair.

  • Well with Charlie Hunter not john mayer. Look it up.

    haha

  • nuts

  • asl?

  • ROFL...hahaha

  • i played with him for years, a true bad ass player. Also a very lovely person.

  • ya thats a fucking lie lol

  • I LOVE THE BLACK STRAT 1:56

  • ...just beatiful!

  • i am so glade that he cut his hair short

  • Charlie Hunter is fuckin' crazy!

  • You cannot enhance yourself by diminishing other people, professionals do not do that EVER!

  • Charlie is the Man. Just saw him last night at Hopmonk. He Killed.

  • that groove at 5:16 may be the fattest thing ive ever heard

  • YA...FAT...Ughhh

  • 2:19

  • 0:50

  • hey where did u get this video? whats the name of the dvd? ..if there is one.

  • This video came with the delux version of Continuum on iTunes. It only came with the ourchased album, until recently. It's called In Repair: one day, one song.

  • ooh thanks.

  • thats amazing stuff.

  • Its cool, because now after getting into charlie hunters stuff, I can totally pick out what he plays in the song. Its fun to hear different peoples distinct styles

  • whoa!! speechless by the amount of pedals there!!!. john mayer is the best when it comes to creativity from the heart and expresses it by playing the guitar. so glad he was born and became a musician!!!

  • I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that the "worst sounding pedal EVER" from 2:00-2:08 is an Electro-Harmonix BIG MUFF... from the "Every garage band" quote. I had one it was probably the WORST tone ever. Me and my buddies always referred to it as "Butt Tone" when I'd turn it on... It's like taking a crappy no-name chinese practice amp with a 2 inch speaker, dousing it with gas inside, lighting it on fire and covering it with a soaking wet shag carpet... don't waste your money!

  • Oh god, they sound AWEFUL!

  • just because you dont like doesnt mean, its THE WORST PEDAL SOUNDING EVER, learn how to use it

  • Yes, if you learn how to use it, its great!!

  • Don't offer bad advice just because you dont know what to do with it.

  • If you can make it work in your sound, great... I'm not bashing it from that standpoint... I use some unorthodox gear tecniques as well. My main gripe with the pedal is that the product description is misleading. It's one of those pedals you have to try in person and with your rig or one similar before you buy it. The "violin sustain" and "low-noise," the pedal claims are non-existant (unless you run it through a noise reducer or a compression sustainer pedal).

  • Jimi Hendrix didn't use one as the add claims (He used a Dallas-Arbitar Fuzz Face)

Carlos Santana uses Mesa and 2 Dumble amps($16-$25k... woah) with an Ibanez Tube Screamer

The only true users of the pedal that I found were Korn and the Smashing Pumpkins (keep in mind that Billy Corgan also has 7 other fuzz/drive pedals in his rig as well as a 5150, JCM800, and a Mesa Trip Recto for distortion tones... overkill).

I will say the USA B.M is alot better than the russian one i had.

  • I donn't mean anything by it other than to stop some poor kid from buying it without trying it and then be dissapointed they wasted their money... I had my Big Muff for years, and I tried and tried to make it effective. I tried it out everytime I changed my amp rig in hopes it'd improve, and finally traded it for a used tube screamer... The USA and Big Muffin variations may be better... I had the cheap russian one so let me put that out there. No harm, no foul

  • Haha ok no problem. I do get the sustain (I dont own the pedal btw), but the claim about low-noise is obviously a joke. Cool that you know so much about gear.

  • Does anyone know the name of that sounds like a oregan? (Not only pog)

  • its delay and the POLYPHONIC OCTAVE GENERATOR by eh

  • Yeah, the P.O.G is almost 300 bucks I think... There is one version that can do 12 string, 18 string, and the organ effect as well as a slight detune to give you more of an organ "warble" sound. It'd be an awesome pedal in the studio, but you'd have to write down all your settings and be quick to change it during a show

  • On the new POG2 that's comming out you can store 8 settings! I think it will make this pedal stand out from it's predecessors... Still a bit too expensive for a pedal you won't be using that much...

  • Wow they managed to write "Your Time Is Gonna Come". Awesome.

  • Did you call out Robert Plant for taking a line in YTIGC from a Ray Charles tune, too?

  • Yes. And Jimmy for ripping off Taurus :)

  • What a great insight into John's creative process. Cool video!

  • I saw charlie hunter localy recenlty and he was fantastic, i couldnt belive what he was doing

  • dude john and steve are quite hip, but charlie hunter? although he's a good musician what he says when he meets steve and a couple other times shows he's a bit of a dork...insecure

  • Giving a heartfelt and well deserved compliment shows that he's a dork? And insecure? I've been making my living playing music since 1976, and I'm here to tell you it's the guys that are afraid to give someone else a compliment because they think it will make them look like a dork - THOSE are the insecure ones. Think about that.

  • omg, all those pedals!!!

  • 2 DL4's!! I'd love that

  • i really want someone to put up the try documentary i cant find it anyway i saw it once and it had out of my mind acoustic...could someone who has it put it up or give me a link?

  • Which is the Robert Gray record that Steve's talking about while greeting Charlie?

  • Robert Cray.

The album's called Take Your Shoes Off.

  • funny that he said "its really kinda readymade", cause thats a chili peppers song that was written the same way, completely spontaneously

  • 8 string guitar, lol, we are heading into spinal tap territory. btw whats a a section?

  • the A section would be the first part of the song, followed by the B section... etc

  • @notonekind think logically everything has a form whether its sports ect..., in music the most basic is ABA then going on to AABA, everything has a system music is not just random stuff(somewhat I guess but you know)

  • When you see Charlie Hunter play, the last thing you think about is Spinal Tap. He's a tremendous player and musician.

  • What the hell is that pedal that he points out to C. Hunter? 2:47

  • it looks like one of the Boss/Roland ME pedals, but it's not an ME5 and a 4 never existed as far as I know

  • @stratocat04 its an Electro Harmonics POG(wich he uses for the organ sound out of his strat)

  • @stratocat04 it's a korg g4 rotary speaker simulator.

  • A guy I know made it...

  • its from the village sessions ep

  • 5:16 is such a fat groove, love it.

  • finally someone puts this on

  • ooh thank you, i've been looking for this for a while...

aaand hey, May 29 is my birthday!

    how cool is that? :)

  • This is so cool! Thank you!

  • welcome :P

  • It comes with the village session when you get it on Itunes.

  • This is sweet! Where'd you get it?
