You cavn still access your C:\ or other drive where you Music is at. Ubuntu will let you still browse your Window's files, but obviously you cannot open them (exception of Wine), but anyway's .mp3 , .jpg, etc are still accessable. Just don't install Ubuntu over your Windows because if you do, you will loose your music and your Windows Operating System.
Apple stopped support on IPod touch 4G IOS 4.2.1 warning do not upgrade your IPod touch 4G I repeat do not upgrade!!! They write a checksum to prevent syncing on Linux!
@philipkimbrell90 No, the Ubuntu update has included support for IOS 4.2.1, well it works for mine at least. My iPod used to be recognised as a camera until the update and it's now recognised as an iPod and has support in Rhythmbox.

Mine says i have Ubuntu 11.4 - released in April 2011... i installed it yesterday, downloaded 4 months ago, never got to using it before now. And it seems i have mystically downloaded a future version of the OS!! xD Dunno might be a mistake or something..
@NolaMushr00m@anchorschmidt I'm assuming that you don't want to Dual boot with Windows and Ubuntu. Yes, you can just transfer them to an external HD and then transfer them back.
@anchorschmidt so you can install Win7 on one hard disk, Ubuntu 10.10 on another, and then select which one you want at startup? And I presume since you're only running one OS at a time there's no effect on performance at all? Thnx!!
@NolaMushr00m if you can do partitioning it won't be a problem. you can still access your music from ubuntu os. because it uses and supports ext2, ext3, ext4 file systems ;)
try search on google with keywords: win7 linux dual boot
@anchorschmidt Could you tell me the specs of your computer? I was just wondering because Ubuntu's response time seems to be snappy. And how fast does it boot? Some guy with a SSD hard drive was able to achieve boot up time in 10 sec. Thanks.
@marcmg42 I have a dual core cpu (2.6 GHz). 2 gigs of ram. 250gm hard disk (5400rpm). I don't remember the graphics card but it's pretty modest. It boots in around 25 seconds on my system.
@davejoshmom1 Looks nothing like Windows 7... It's a lot more complicated to use as there's commands to install 99.9% of the programs in the Terminal but after a month of using it you'd of learnt most of the commands and got to know how to use it. :)
@xMandalorex Of course but I heard some several other sources as well, second I have 64-bit machine. My need for larger amounts of RAM forced me to go 64-bit.
@anchorschmidt is compiz config and compiz fusion the same thing?
I have config and I don't have the same window animations as you do. (eg, the first one whne you open the home folder.) Is there a plugin for this? I already installed the compiz-fusion-plugins-extra.
@any5dollarfootlong It's called sidekick. Search in the software center for compiz fusion and make sure that you have compiz fusion extra plugins installed. Then it should be available under the animations part.
@1CrazyMofo1 Are you wishing to upgrade or do a clean install. If you just want to upgrade but have lucid already installed, then you should see an option to upgrade to Maverick in the update manager (System>Administration) Please reply if you want to do a clean install.
@anchorschmidt Thanks for your reply. I have Ubuntu on a flash drive and I just wanted to upgrade from 10.04LTS to 10.10. I don't want to do a clean install because I already have files saved on the flash drive. Is there a command to do this on the terminal? I don't know I like doing everything from the terminal. lol
