  • Ubuntu fucked shit up with 11.04 and 11.10..... I went back to 10.10 for now.

  • Should this version of ubuntu work on a PowerMac G5 Dual PowerPC 1.8ghz?

  • this is good OS. Great support for Linux by me

  • damn, just installed today, and while i love it, i really shoulda waited 6 days for 11.04

  • gnome is ugly like shit

  • does it worth to upgrade form 9.03?

  • how did u get the dock in the bottom I'm new to linux?

  • @Wiz4Rd7

program called 'Docky' in the Ubuntu Software Center :D

  • Unfortunately all linux distro's are gimped/screwed now if you've got an nvidia based card with optimus technology.

  • is the same with compizconfiguration ?

  • You cavn still access your C:\ or other drive where you Music is at. Ubuntu will let you still browse your Window's files, but obviously you cannot open them (exception of Wine), but anyway's .mp3 , .jpg, etc are still accessable. Just don't install Ubuntu over your Windows because if you do, you will loose your music and your Windows Operating System.

  • last night i formated my hard drive to put ubuntu linux 10.10 on so i replaced it with windows 7 ultimate best thing ive ever done

  • Does Ubuntu 10.4 update to 10.10 or do you have reinstall the OS?

  • has anyone thought that Apple may have nicked the idea of an app store in there computer OS because its similar to the software center on this

  • @Mitch200714 Yup! That's exactly what they did.

  • @anchorschmidt if only i could play games smoothly, i would DEFINITELY go all the way with ubuntu

  • @WeWantGoodCovers You can, look up the program called Wine. Note that all games aren't playable but most are.

  • @njhth i've tried! counter strike source, gta iv, crysis, grid, all fps down like 70%...

  • Apple stopped support on IPod touch 4G IOS 4.2.1 warning do not upgrade your IPod touch 4G I repeat do not upgrade!!! They write a checksum to prevent syncing on Linux!

  • @philipkimbrell90 Actually this works now, they've updated it.

  • @OwNaGeOfDaLiAm Updated what, the IPod?

  • @philipkimbrell90 No, the Ubuntu update has included support for IOS 4.2.1, well it works for mine at least. My iPod used to be recognised as a camera until the update and it's now recognised as an iPod and has support in Rhythmbox.

  • compiz fusion cube with multiple wallpapers has glitch on start up. i have to hit ctrl alt f1 then ctrl alt f7. do you know how to fix this problem ?

  • Mine says i have Ubuntu 11.4 - released in April 2011... i installed it yesterday, downloaded 4 months ago, never got to using it before now. And it seems i have mystically downloaded a future version of the OS!! xD Dunno might be a mistake or something..

  • If i install UNBUNTU on my Windows 7 will i loss all my music on my computer.... i wanna do the full SWITCH if this helps

  • @NolaMushr00m If you backup your music to an external hard drive, it shouldn't be a problem.

  • @anchorschmidt So if i install it i wont have my music from windows.. i have to transfer it to a external HD ...thats the only way ??

  • @NolaMushr00m @anchorschmidt I'm assuming that you don't want to Dual boot with Windows and Ubuntu. Yes, you can just transfer them to an external HD and then transfer them back.

  • @anchorschmidt so you can install Win7 on one hard disk, Ubuntu 10.10 on another, and then select which one you want at startup? And I presume since you're only running one OS at a time there's no effect on performance at all? Thnx!!

  • @NolaMushr00m if you can do partitioning it won't be a problem. you can still access your music from ubuntu os. because it uses and supports ext2, ext3, ext4 file systems ;)

try search on google with keywords: win7 linux dual boot

  • @sench07 Thnx dude amazing help

  • ubuntu 10.10 hlp needed plzzz

  • @No1bigred what kind of help do you want?

  • Another 2 looser that cant afford to buy cheap desktop 4 installing this free Magnificent Meerkat O_o

  • What program did you use to record this?

  • @mohitd2000 I used recordmydesktop. You can install that as well as gtk-recordmydesktop

  • @anchorschmidt Could you tell me the specs of your computer? I was just wondering because Ubuntu's response time seems to be snappy. And how fast does it boot? Some guy with a SSD hard drive was able to achieve boot up time in 10 sec. Thanks.

  • @marcmg42 I have a dual core cpu (2.6 GHz). 2 gigs of ram. 250gm hard disk (5400rpm). I don't remember the graphics card but it's pretty modest. It boots in around 25 seconds on my system.

  • @davejoshmom1 Looks nothing like Windows 7... It's a lot more complicated to use as there's commands to install 99.9% of the programs in the Terminal but after a month of using it you'd of learnt most of the commands and got to know how to use it. :)

  • ubuntus cool

  • @davejoshmom1 my point was about who came first though. winblows in second

  • @davejoshmom1 windows 7 looks like this

  • Hi!!!! what is that dock program called? thank you very much is you respond

  • @bishonenchan It's called docky.

  • Thank you for uploading this. :)

  • @ElasticGiraffe You are very welcome!

  • Running this on my Pentium 3 laptop,

    fucking awesome ubuntu 10.10

  • @xMandalorex I hear that Ubuntu will no longer run on i686 based platforms.

  • @nextstep333

say what ? its working fine Ubuntu 10.10 (32 bit) on my Pentium 3 laptop.

1Ghz and 587MB Ram (yes strange amount but some is built in)

they wont lave 32 bit for a LONG TIME me thinks.

  • @xMandalorex Thanks for the update, I was reading it from a forum.

  • @nextstep333

Never believe anything you read on the ubuntu forums (if it was that forum)

ubuntu will be using 32 bit for LONG TIME so relax!

its awesome man, you got ubuntu 10.10 on your setup laptop? i use redhat for my server ubuntu for my laptop and XPx64 for my main pc lol.

  • @xMandalorex Of course but I heard some several other sources as well, second I have 64-bit machine. My need for larger amounts of RAM forced me to go 64-bit.

  • @nextstep333

Well you cant get more secure than running a 64-bit Linux OS LOL

    awesome that man.

  • What program are you using for desktop effects?

  • @any5dollarfootlong Compiz fusion. You can configure it using compiz-fusion-settings-manager

  • @anchorschmidt is compiz config and compiz fusion the same thing?

I have config and I don't have the same window animations as you do. (eg, the first one whne you open the home folder.) Is there a plugin for this? I already installed the compiz-fusion-plugins-extra.

  • @any5dollarfootlong It's called sidekick. Search in the software center for compiz fusion and make sure that you have compiz fusion extra plugins installed. Then it should be available under the animations part.

  • which dock are you using?

  • @TheAdN1000 docky

  • Does anyone know how to upgrade from 10.04 to 10.10 on a USB Flashdrive? Is there a command or something? Am new to Ubuntu.

  • @1CrazyMofo1 Are you wishing to upgrade or do a clean install. If you just want to upgrade but have lucid already installed, then you should see an option to upgrade to Maverick in the update manager (System>Administration) Please reply if you want to do a clean install.

  • @anchorschmidt Thanks for your reply. I have Ubuntu on a flash drive and I just wanted to upgrade from 10.04LTS to 10.10. I don't want to do a clean install because I already have files saved on the flash drive. Is there a command to do this on the terminal? I don't know I like doing everything from the terminal. lol

  • @1CrazyMofo1 sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

  • @1CrazyMofo1

    sudo update-manager -d

  • @SamDeRe81 Cairo-Dock (no OpenGL), that is. i found the on with OpenGL caused some conflict with other programs (e.g. skype)

  • As far as I could see, the font was the only new thingy in this video. :O

  • @lukeydeluxe If you say so :) Actually I wouldn't bother just sticking with lucid since it's an LTS

  • how did u make your apps, places, and system transparent when they drop down?

  • @LAB1one There is an option in Ubuntu Tweak that helps you with that.

  • How did you add the mac os x like dock at the bottom???

  • @Luka92SRB The program's name is docky. I can't post links here but you can search for it on google :)

  • @Luka92SRB u can also get it from the ubuntu software center under applications

  • I'm really liking the new release.

  • cool wallpapers!!!! :)
