But practically it would be preferable for most motorist to build up a car that surpasses this yet is cheaper and that can definitely be done. A honda can even be built up to these specs as a daily driven car(including AWD/RWD) for those who know the facts.

That's what I would have done, bought a cheaper 4.2 version, which gets better MPG and makes a far better noise with a Tubi exhaust, and then put a turbo or two into it, and there you go, a faster R8.

@CarbineGuy thats a great idea, but sadly, and very strangely, the v10 version gets better MPG than the v8 version.because the v10 version is more powerful, so there is no need to push it all the way before it gets flying. I have an R8, check my videos if you'd like, i definitely agree with you that the v8 sounds so much better than the v10, if i wanted a v10 I'd just get a lp560-4 gallardo which sounds better, has an engine that hasnt been detuned. although i sugest edo competition exhaust v8r8

Were you able to get CARB certification for those of us that live in states with regular SMOG inspections? It's rare any aftermarket SC kit also gets CARB certification.

I do like the R8 V10 also with the sequential box, a friend was driving one at Thunderhill (Willows CA) a few months back and I've never seen any "street" car do as many fast consecutive laps as that R8 V10. I kept waiting for something to break or fail and it never did. Amazing car Audi have produced in the R8 V10.

Your Matt Farah is explaining very good how the car improves compared to the stock version, but for the rest, this is not the baddest R8 yet or ever.The german tuning manufacturer and Audi specialist MTM (Motoren Technik Mayer) has a 4.2 V8 supercharger with 560 hp (as much as LP560 - 4)and a torque comparable to a Lamborghini V12. Most important, they don't try to make themselves extra important by giving the car childish names such as Raptor. They haven't any laptop 'n stuff, but carbonfiber!

I think that if I were to ever buy an R8, I'd do this to it - purchase the V8 and then just supercharge it. That way, you pretty much have an even more powerful car than the 5.2L version, and you can use all that money you're saving buy buying the smaller-engined version to get every option you want when configuring it. Or, you could buy the 5.2L and supercharge THAT...

That bloke really is the end of a bell. And remember that the V10 has got 2 turbos bolted to it so all you need is a £500 remap and you'll be running anything up to 650 bhp. We had an RS6 in at work with the same twin turbo V10 and that was running 710 bhp just from a remap. The R8 was always meant to have the V10, i can't for the life of me even think why Audi released it with a V8 first but i fear the government must be involved. . .but even the original Quattro R8 concept had the V10 in it.
