  • Popular guy!

  • America, this man is your enemy.

  • Don Blankenship is SCUM. One of the the most evil corporate leaders ever. Hope that blood money bought something real nice Donny boy!

  • This man murders his own workers, and now he has the gall to tell US about the evils of corporate America? He ought to be left at the bottom of a mine shaft and sealed in. Fuck him, fuck Ted Nugent, and fuck every miserable, delusional, teabagging piece of shit who attended his twisted rally.

  • Yeah. Because having clean energy would surely take away jobs and not give any back in return -_-

  • Fuck you Don.

  • What a sick, evil bastard. I would hate to be him on Judgment Day.

  • Murderer.

  • Fuck this prick.

  • It sickens me hiding behind our flag

Time to get out the tar, rail and feathers

I hope Hank kicks your crank!

  • Hi! I'm Don Hitler! I"m here to fucking kill your Family And File Lawsuits And Collect my Dlecious money!

  • Why is Blankenship not behind bars yet for multiple negligent homicide? He boasts that he never had any intention of fulfilling safety requirements. He spends a couple of million a year fighting regulations in court instead of improving safety conditions. He makes fun of politicians who "get emotional" when there is a disaster and "pass all kinds of regulations." This man is a dangerous sociopathic murderer.

  • @mmmmarcy I agree . He 's creepy. I can't say enough bad things about him. to think of something new makes my day

  • Don Blankenship is Jewish and interested in only making money.

Don Blankenship has an Israeli passport like all American Jews and will escape to Israel to avoid prosecution in the US.

Israel does not extradite its "citizens" - which under the "Law of Return" is any Jew, anywhere in the world.

Don Blankenship is the same as Lloyd Blankfein (Owner of Goldman Sachs) - Jews ripping off America.

  • @gracezchen35 Go to hell you nazi bastard.

  • @gracezchen35

The guy in the comment above yours just called him a Nazi. You're saying he's Jewish?

I just think he's an asshole.

    So, are you an anti-Semite?

  • Hey Don....GO GET FUCKED... you need to be charged with one count of murder for EACH life lost in that mine....you're such a greedy fuck that its true...coal first, safety last!! and you know you can get away with firing anyone who speaks out because there are lines of people waiting to get a job in the coal fields....so go fuck yourself and let the union mines back in this state

  • As far as I'm concerned Don Blankenship is guilty of criminally negligent homicide! Hope he is charged and sent to prison for along time! Give him a cell mate that will make him his bitch!!!

  • Oh dear jesus let's get our guns out and oh wait the dumb founded look on these idiotic people's faces I am sorry. For one there was 29 miners who passed god bless there souls. For two we all know that mines are dangerous jobs. The environmentalists are the ones who need to be blamed for more people and more disasters like this happening. The ones who oppose a safer way to mine coal. Yea our government is the biggest problem not one company can make the mistakes they have.

  • This guy intentionally fought the safety regulations at the expense of murdering 29 of his workers.

His company has had so many law suits against it but because he is the best buddy of WV supreme court, all the cases that went in front of these judges came out in his FAVOR. This murderer gives a new meaning to corruption.

  • hey Blankenship I always thought u tube was for dilllitantes but now your murderous face is being shown to miners all over the world--you ain't gonna be dealing with just the courts you bought you scum bag bastard! Lots of people know--me and others have made it our business and if the courts don't get you some miner will rip out your asshole!

  • @vivascargill why can't someone kidnap him and stick him in one of his mines and turn off the lights and lock the door! I wouldn't want a miner to end up in prison over it I mean him1

  • Stop blood coal! Hope you find a strong boyfriend in jail DON to keep all the bad men from ass raping you!

  • How are you feeling about it now, Don?

  • You are a scumbag and I hope you are put in prison where you belong.

Oh wait, why don't you threaten to shoot me to. You hate America, America hates you.

  • Transcript from first take: "Shucks I'm Don Blankenship, we gunna have us a real good time learnin why good Ame-ri-cun coal companies shouldn't have to obey all those communist mining safety laws and 'greeniac' policies. Everyone who opposes me is a communist, especially the media and politicians that won't be bribed. THEYTOOKARRJOBS!! I plan to wear the stars and stripes as my shirt at my tea party, this will make me look like a gooder Americun. I really hope "the Nuge" likes muh flag shirt."

  • Got to hand it to you, Donnie, most of your fellow billionaires raping America hide behind fake patriotic front organizations don't put their face on YT and allow comments.

Hope you rot in jail motherfucker, you're worse than Bernie Madoff.

  • Fuck Don blankenship and Massey energy. Murderers.... 25 dead.... Massey won't even talk to the families! These people work in the mines because they have to. There is no other way to support their families. And that's the way coal companies want it. It was that way a hundred yrs ago, and it's still that way. These people have to keep their mouths closed. If they speak out, they lose their jobs. Freedom of speech my ass, not in the coal fields.

Please pray for the miners and their families.

  • Murderer, hypocrite, and slime !!!

  • Don Blankenship is living proof that " "The Christian god is a three headed monster, cruel, vengeful, and capricious. If one wishes to know more of this raging, three headed beast-like god, one only needs to look at the caliber of people who say they serve him. They are always of two classes: fools and hypocrites." - Thomas Jefferson

  • Ah, life in the shallow end of the gene pool. Hey, Don, if you divorced your wife would she still be your sister?

  • @HalEBurton I don't think reptiles have siblings

  • Hey Don, tell us, how do you sleep?

  • Don Blankenship is a murdering corporate scum. He is the reason 25 men are DEAD!

  • Hi I'm Don Blankenship and I just sentenced 25 Miners to their DEATH!!!

  • Translated: I gave $1M to teabaggers so they can act as proxies in my war against those who work for clean air, unspoiled rivers and safe working conditions.

  • Hey, Don Blankenship -- You are a murderer. You have the blood of 25 miners on your hands.

  • "Corporate America is trying to destroy your job?" This guy *is* corporate America. By definition he is part of the problem.

  • Wow....an in color vid of a living breathing human turd

  • ah, its no use. Just wait... there will be no coal mining in america... And to think uneducated americans picking on west virginia when the largest coal producer resides in Illinois... pffff? That's common knowledge!!!! No mountain top removal, but these green beans could care less if they wipe our corn fields for plaza malls and starbucks.... wanna go green, green beans? Pick your nose and do us all a favor.... bitch somewhere else!!!!!!!

  • I will not be at any rally you support. You rape the environment for your own unquenchable greed.

  • Keep up the Good work Wv coal miners our future is in your hands...

  • Dubya Dubya Dot

  • If you want to learn more about the dangers of Blankenship and Mountain Top Removal read the book "Coal River" by Michael Shnayerson or read New York Times article, "Toxic Waters: Clean Water Laws Are Neglected, at a Cost in Suffering" in the Sept. 12 issue.

  • Blankenship is a liar, cheat, crook, and environmental rapist.

Want to learn more? Read the book Coal River.

  • Her entire family tries to avoid any contact with the water. Her youngest son has scabs on his arms, legs & chest where bathwater -- polluted with lead, nickel & other heavy metals -- caused painful rashes. Many of his brothers teeth were capped to replace enamel that was eaten away.

  • New York Times, 9/13/09

Clean Water Laws Are Neglected, at a Cost in Suffering

  • Neighbors apply special lotions after showering because their skin burns. Tests show that their tap water contains arsenic, barium, lead, manganese and other chemicals at concentrations federal regulators say could contribute to cancer and damage the kidneys and nervous system."

  • June 8, 2009, Charleston WV According to the former head of federal mine inspector training, three separate government studies have shown a link between the practice of Mountain Top Removal mining and flooding like that in southern West Virginia last month.

  • Jack Spadaro is the former director of the National Mine Health and Safety Academy and a mining engineer with forty years of experience. He says the EPA, the Corps of Engineers and the state government have all found a link between flooding and the huge surface mines.

  • "These are scientific studies done by teams of scientists, hydrologists and engineers, and they've all shown there is a link between mountaintop-removal mining and flooding." -- Jack Spadaro, former head of federal mine inspector training

  • Spadaro says if you fly over the affected areas, you can clearly see the connection between the flooding & the MTR. "If you look at any of the areas where the flood is, you can find direct links, such as erosion gullies on the faces of the valley fills, & landslides & debris flows that go all the way down into the valleys below."

  • The coalfield counties of West Virginia have been hit by flooding numerous times in the last ten years. May's floods damaged or destroyed an estimated 3,000 buildings in eleven counties and required the allocation of more than 60 million dollars in government assistance.

  • Mountain Top Removal is destroying Appalachia! Destroying air and water quality, biodiversity, natural ancient topography, centuries old topsoil. Causing devastating floods. You can't be a hillbilly without hills. Stop MTR! Save my/our WV! The only ones who disagree are those whose pockets are full of MTR $.

  • Mr eastwood says "causing devastating floods"...I wonder if he knows the last "devastating flood" that could even be semi-blamed on strip mining was in the 70's. Strip mining, and regulations have come a long way since then.

  • This last May southern WV was inundated with devastating flash floods largely attributable to the rapid runoff from massive Mountain Top Removal and associated clear cutting. Instead of days for rain to be dissipated in a unharmed watershed it takes only minutes in your ravaged MTR sites.

  • Well, when you get close to 2 inches of rain and hour, like we got during that time...the middle of Kansas would flood (Kansas just being a random non mountaintop removal site). There were places that flooded in that same few days that never had a mine close to it...Next???

  • It doesn't matter JeffFurrow, they have it in their minds that MTR causes cancer, flooding, and just about everything else that is wrong with the world. Funny thing is, they blame everything on coal, but they don't think twice to flip that damn light switch on!

  • We're both WVians. We agree southern WV economy relies too heavily on coal. We disagree about Mountain Top Removal being a prudent use of our resources. We disagree about the severity of its impact. See my response regarding flooding and water pollution caused by MTR.

  • - Now this is a broad statement to anyone believing they can research this topic and disprove all the evidence against MTR. I am VERY willing to hear your arguement and even look into it. PLEASE, bring somebody to the table that actually has some knowledge so we can create some sort of educational debate for anyone reading.

I feel like im going around in circles talking to this fool here...

  • Let's see how big of an anti-coal person you are zach... Turn off you PC, stop driving your vehicles/bikes, and don't shop in stores. A fossil fuel is a fossil fuel, no matter if it is liquid or solid. MTR is a safer way of mining for the people doing it! And it's not bad for people living around it either. But how would you know? You don't even live here! You only come in for a week or two at a time if you do come here! Stop believing everything you see from these enviro-nuts!

  • stop believing everything must be ok as long as everything in you tiny town is. be more broad minded. my pc isn't running right now off of coal or oil. i walk to class and do not drive a car as of right now. stop acting like you know me and everyone else and pick up an arguement on some other video you might win.... and no i never said it all stays in the US. stop trying to take what i say out of context. i dont claim to be and expert on coal, i just know what MTR does.. unlike you. go read up.

  • I live in the heart of WV coal country! YOU DON'T!!! I never said that I knew you, and this argument will be won by me and the coal supporters in the world! You have already stated in an above post you know NOTHING about the coal industry, so did you become a professional in a little over 2 weeks? C'mon Zach, your the one who needs to read up! You have no idea what MTR does or doesn't do! What state are you from?

  • Once again... you are trying to discredit me. You have no facts, just capital letters to try to make your point. you are a fool. I never said it causes flooding, or any other worldly problems. However, it is causing cancer. Also I specified that I dont know about the coal process, but have a fair amount of knowledge about what it does. Seriously, do you even have an arguement here?

  • "EPA Puts Brakes on Surface Mining in Appalachia"

    The Washington Independent

    Sept, 11, 2009

    YEAH!

  • umm... so yea... Obama administration and EPA 1 : Blankenship and MTR 0

  • YA know, Massey isn't the only people that does MTR! Why is it that it is the only one brought up? And they are just reviewing some permits, not all!

  • haha Massey is just a good example, we never said it was the only one. Also, 79 permits is not just "some". Thats a lot of permits. I'm willing to bet if those get revoked, then the others will fall soon afterwards as well.

  • No, that is some permits. They are reviewing permits in WV, KY, VA, OH, and WY.

  • haha... and you say "some permits" located acrossed 5 states... thats a lot of MTR and destruction being stopped, no matter what you say..

  • also, you cant comment on me taking more than one comment box when you just did too... and yes... thats what i meant. asian coal markets dont rely wholly on our coal, actually they were thinking about buying out US companies (like yours) but you already knew that right? but they rely on their own coal and austrailain coal. please research that before you yourself reply.

side note: you should seriously become more educated before you try to provide a valid arguement.

  • I didn't say they did rely completey on our coal! Most of it goes to asia for vehicles and parts manufacturing. A Russian company actually bought Bluestone coal, maybe you should research that. But you believe all the US coal stays in the US, correct? You've already stated you know nothing about coal, so how is it that you suddenly became an expert? I don't know everything, but I DO KNOW COAL!

  • Stop Destroying Our Mountains.

    End Mountain Top Removal.

Don Blankenship is an Environmental Criminal.

  • and yes i am going to college. it is called furthering my education. something you did not do. its something that most people do in their lives. school is my job for now. and im damn good at it. and beating you in arguement. but that is besides the point. the point is that you still have not added your "facts" to the conversation, because you have none. that is all there is to it. yo u can pound sand all you want, but you still have no point to your arguement. im sorry for you. i really am.

  • Stop destroying our God given mountains.

    End Mountain Top Removal.

  • I agree we need coal to produce our current electricity needs, but... less than 5% of our coal is produced by MTR. We have some technologies for burning cleaner coal and more will be developed. Eventually we will eventually go to a cleaner, cheaper method of electricity generation. We need to prepare our economy in WV now.

  • yes and that equates to less than one percent of our energy needs. you are correct in your thinking. but some radicals here wont listen to facts and prefer to live off of what the tv tells them. not much unlike fuckyamountains and philbusa.

  • We live it, we see what goes on from day to day in the world. We actually work, unlike you. We see both sides of the MTR and mining story, not just the one side that you all see.

  • where in the world do you get this idea that nobody else works? you are completely ignorant of everyone outside your own little world. bud... ur the one who needs to grow up here. i have worked. i have earned money. ive done community service. and asia markets dont depend on our coal either. and once again, less than .1% of electricity in the US is from MTR. i do believe you are a dumb hick... but i do not believe all the people of WV are. you are just making an ass of yourself now...

  • I was talking about YOU not working, and most of the rest of the people against MTR. That's why you all can do your "civil disobedience acts" all the time. When I said Asian markets earlier, I meant Asian coal markets dumbass. Do us all a favor next time you post: Stop, think about what you want to say. Shorten it all up to fit into one comment box and let it fly. when you run out of characters, stop that post and wait for a reply. You type like you are ADD!

  • f**kyamountains... your screen name says how much you care about our magnificent mountains you "work" to destroy.

    STOP MOUNTAIN TOP REMOVAL.

    BLANKENSHIP IS AN ENVIRONMNETAL CRIMINAL.

  • you keep changing what you say to fit your arguement.. i do not have ADD, and i just stated that i haved worked, though as of right now i am not, so i can concentrat on my studies and the bring about solar energy to bring abut an end to the coal industry. Also, i will supply more jobs. and actually, where i live, we have plenty of these wind turbines. finally you looked up stuff before you commented, but didnt read what i said. what "civil disobediance' acts are you even talking about?

  • Our economy in southern WV and eastern Ky are overly dependent on Coal. We need to call on biz leaders, state and fed. representatives to diversify the potential jobs for the hard working people of Appalachia. Even so, Mountain Top Removal destroys our future for short-term financial gain.

  • Yes, I'm concerned about jobs too. MTR requires much less people to work then traditional mining. MTR severely degrades forests even after so-called reclamation. Tourism is severely diminished. MTR encourages an economy solely reliant on coal. MTR, in the long run, pushes Southern WV further into an economic and environmental wasteland.

  • Let's discuss Mountain Top Removal and forget about all these petty, juvenile attacks that are way off subject. Let's talk about Blankenship, heavy metals, highest # of violations, coercing judges on the French Riviera, ground water contamination, destroying our environment.

  • Scary stuff. The hate and lies and the denial of truth, goodness and the renunciation of true American ideals - we have the duty to take care of the land, love Democracy, and love each other. Mr. Blankenship is the devil reincarnate himself.

I just can't help remembering the history lessons about what happened in Germany around 76 years ago. This same kind of vile hatred ruled the day back then. We must fight hatred with all our might today!

  • your arguement is over philbusa.... you are dismissed little one.

  • looks like i hit a nerve, look here you little punk you may get bye with your little tantrums at your grade school there, but this is the REAL world pal. not fucking fairyland , you dumbasses think you can sprinkle your fairydust on everytning and make the world perfect.FACTS ARE FACTS, you are using electric by coal power, still as we speak. now you may tell your little girlfriend you are going to get into solar panal development, and your double major horeshit

  • I've come to a conclusion here phil... This motherfucker doesn't nor has ever had to work. Mommy and Daddy buy everything little zachy needs for his college education. He think he knows what is best for the coal industry. He has already admitted he does know a fuckin' thing about coal. He sends me PM's all the time about this stuff, I'm sure he does the same to you. If he was really against coal and MTR, he needs to turn of his lights and stop using anything with steel in it.

  • and yes i have worked, i support 2nd amendment rights and the rights of the individual. much like some parts of... say what? the conserative movement! im a moderate you fucking retard. dont go throwing you anti left wing propaganda on me you fucking bitch. i bet you i know more about your own party than you do. you ignorant shit. kill yourself.

  • ummm, do you read minds? I never disclosed my political party on here, so how do you know what party I am with? I don't really give a damn what you do, point is you don't do much except sit on the PC trying to fuck the actual working man.

  • not everything is built using coal. coal is only responsible for 56% of electricity if you do remember so. we are not hypocrites. we realize that coal has been used to to produce a great many things. unfortunately its time for coal to be left where it belongs, in the past. and once again, not all coal is mtr coal. please try to stay on topic. and trust me, im not trying to "fuck" the working man. im going to be one, as i have already explained. your are grasping at an argument you have lost.

  • MTR and underground coal is used in the melting of steel. MTR and underground coal is used in some of the production of electricity. I know coal doesn't provide every bit of power for the US, but it does provide quite a bit for asian markets. You need to hurry up and join the working life, you'll see things alot different.

  • i think that might just refute your statement and everyone else's that "we live off mtr".... im not against coal as used for energy (at least until we develop solar) but just mtr. and guess what? since mtr? jobs in west virginia have declined... so shut the fuck up and think before you speak...... NEXT PERSON PLEASE =]

  • and how you will change the world. problem is YOU HAVE TO GET THROUGH THE WORKING MAN FIRST. not gonna happen. im a working man, and if what college has is dumbasses like you,ill stick with work. when you get off using the shit you hate so much,THEN YOU MAY SPEAK, UNTILL THEN GET BACK IN THE CORNER. you will loose

  • Your still gonna need coal to melt down the steel for your precious solar panels... Still gonna need coal to melt down the steel for your precious windmills.... Your still gonna need coal to melt down the steel for your vehicles.. See a pattern here???

  • oh and since i didnt address this... i never have smoked pot... not even once. never have, never will. unlike you, cause you must be on freakin crystal meth or some shit.

  • I can tell by a lot of your responses that you cant be what 14-15,i mean you are trying to hang with the big dogs on here, you know, people who have actual,LIFE experience. and know what is going on in the world. this isnt your little 8th grade debate team here. BY THE WAY, WHAT ARE YOU USING TO RUN THAT COMPUTER YOU ARE ON RIGHT NOW? THATS RIGHT,COAL POWER FROM MTR. now when your ass gets some solar power,windmill,etc... then you can run that cocksucker of yours and maybe ill take you serious.

  • haha no shit.. i didnt realize that coal might produce 56% of electricity in the US.... oh wait.. i did know that. and yes im looking to go into solar panel developement with a dual major in business management. that way I CAN make my own company. quit talking like your tough shit. its pathetic. and i was never on a debate team, btw what level of education do you have? and what do you really know?

  • oh and btw of that 56%? only 4% of that is from mtr... dumbass... stop trying to discredit me and build up your arguement =]

make me at least work for the win here, come on....

  • so that in turn means... 0.0714285714285714285714% of electricity in the US is because of mtr... im really thinking that that less than .1% is something we can do without. dont you?

  • now im going to tell you what gives it away on here that you are 15 at best. this is a serious to what pic, using lol and your little happy or frown faces, thats HER what little teenagers do, NOW GET YOUR ASS OFF HERE AND IN THE BED BEFORE I CALL AND TELL YOUR MOM. WHAT A JOKE.

  • Comment removed

  • actually... it seems that you are clearly the pissy one here. im a college student who is almost 19. i already completed grade school unlike you. quit throwing fits and mis-spelling common words. you have already proved you know nothing, and just have a temper. you are dismissed you little bitch =] oh... yea i forgot to mention, you dont represent the working man population you pompus fool. get off your high horse and get back to your job? which is? janitor? yard mowing? man whore?

  • Damn, you must be on the acid???

  • you idiots and your bad combacks... i swear... im dissapointed.....

  • once again.... everyone here needs to pick up their game and research a topic before they comment for or against this. although... it looks like right above me... and on many sites... it looks almost as if... yes THERE COULD BE PROOF!!!! lol stupid idiot why dont you go to bed with your boyfreind early tonight and maybe have a threesome with your dog... probably your favorite part of the night...... lol

  • somebody please bring somebody here that can effectively prove a point and back up their babble with research.... calling.... one.... two.... three.... nothing?

  • Comment removed

  • let me tell you something heath, you are fucking with people that CAN AND WOULD beat your treehumping ass in a heartbeat IF you were man enough to say it to thier face. easy to talk shit on the internet.better get off that shit before running your mouth on here.HIPPY.

  • Do you even realize the irony of what you just said? Or better yet, do you know what irony is?

It's so cute when children get an internet connection, they just say the darndest things! :)

  • whats ironic if you dont mind my asking?... im glad somebody else can pick up where failed idiot three did... lets see what you know lol

  • Zack: one use of irony is when you say something the exact opposite of the meaning you are putting forth. In other words, Philbusa is giving someone hell for "talking shit" on the internet... as he or she is currently talking shit on the internet themselves. And with a sissy girl video as their favorite video on their profile, no less. It's just too funny... I'm starting to think philbusa is actually a made up character. Nobody is actually THAT stupid in reality, right?

  • Comment removed

  • Zack, who are you talking to? "saw girl, clicked on link..." ? What is this about? I was talking about philbusa, not you... and I have no clue as to what point you are trying to make... what "simple concept" is hard for *who* to grasp? You are being very unclear... I'm legitimately confused by your post, and who you are even speaking to.

  • i actually dont know i thought it was directed at me or something... so i said a generic statement... momentary stupidity from lack of sleep lol

  • Philbusa... this is coming from a guy whose current favorite video is Barbie Girl? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh, this is too funny. Sorry about your penis.

  • Comment removed

  • i agree with eastwood203. fuckyamountains has repeatedly strayed off topic towards insults because he has nothing practical to say. 1) electricity, no matter what source can create heat to make things. 2) we can use that to create more and more clean producers of energy. 3) you have no respect for anything but yourself. cut your own head off with that sharpened chainsaw. you flamming faggit fuck.

  • What other natural fuel burns hot enough to melt steel? And now I'm a flaming fag? LOL, whatever! Go suck you professor's dick to get through this semester!

  • If "you're" into f'ing corpses. If "you're" that freaky. That's our lesson plan for today: learning to distinguish between "your" (the possessive form of "you") and "you're" which is a contraction of "you are." You can do it! :)

  • he doesn't know english grammer. It's no use...

  • Well, if HeathS wouldn't have deleted his post, this would have made perfect sense. That seems to be your all's way, if someone calls ya out on it and you know your caught, you delete your post. Thanks for the word usage lesson, I really appreciate that! And you fuckers say I go off topic??

  • That should be "you know YOU'RE caught" -- proving that you quite likely have a learning disability. Or are just a troll *pretending* to be a stupid hick.

  • oh and a side note... my laptop was built in europe and not by mtr coal. and next my college campus is about to go completely green. meaning in two months, its source of electricity will not be coal. the future isnt happening down the road in centuries to come. the future is here. if you are such an idealist conservative, maybe you would join the future, instead of being part of the past.

  • I don't care if your laptop was built in Ethiopia, if it has metal in it, it was built using coal! Just like your vehicle. Just like the metal doors at your "green school." However you try to hide it is OK, we all know that each and every one of you hypocrite motherfuckers use something that coal helps produce. Whether you like it or not, all of you are friends of coal!

  • Do you really think *all* metal refineries use coal to power their plants? Or are you under the mistaken assumption that all metals are actually *made* from coal? Seriously, are you mentally handicapped, or just a troll pretending to be a dumb hick? If you're trying to pretend to e a dumb hick, you're pushing it too far... even dumb hicks aren't THAT stupid.

  • Anything that has to melt down steel uses coal. Hell, even Subaru, the world's "greenest" auto maker uses coal to melt down the steel for it's vehicles. I never said metal is made from coal, nor am I metally handicapped. I guess I'm just a dumb hick from WV. That seems to be how you assholes think we are!

  • Your ignorance is only trumped by your confidence in your mistaken knowledge. Since the 1800's, steel has often has been melted in electric arc furnaces. The first plant in the US using this technology opened in 1907. Electric arc furnaces can be powered by coal, nuclear energy, gas, and even wind (a mostly wind-powered steel mill just opened in Pakistan recently). Your ignorance on this topic is astounding. Get an education and you'll look less foolish.

  • Electric arc furnaces can be powered by coal? Most are powered by coal. I have read up on wind power, most don't use it because of cost: approximate costs dollar per MWh basis: wind - $23.34, coal - $0.44, natural gas - $0.25, nuclear - $1.57

Wind isn't the greatest option here for power, hence the reason why there aren't very many of these wind powered steel mills. Oh BTW, I searched for a wind powered steel mill in Pakistan, COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING ABOUT ONE, Help me out here???

  • Your words: "Anything that has to melt down steel uses coal." Now you say "Most are powered by coal." Not all. Which is it?

  • 98% of mills use coal. So with that being said, coal is the primary source of steel melting.

  • Also, im not sure where you got the 98% from, but even if mills use some sort of coal, it does not mean that it comes from MTR and it also does not mean that it is the only source used or even the primary source. By your reasoning, 98% of steel mills could use it, but each one could use coal for only 10% of its energy source. Im not saying thats the case, im just stating that you are mentioning half statements and reasonings that you probably read off only one internet site. (foxnews) lol

  • So, first you asked "what other fuel is hot enough to melt steel?" And, hey, guess what? Many things are. So then you said, "ALL steel mills are run on coal." Guess what? They aren't. Now you say, "well, ok, 98% are." So... did you pull that "fact" out of your ass just like all the rest of your "facts" so far?

  • What about the coking process that has to be used to make steel? It's gonna be a long time before coal get replaced as an energy source! There are way to many uses for it, you all are just to stubborn to recognize it. You want coal gone so bad that you have to make up lies about the coal industry to downgrader us and get people on your side.

  • first you spelled tons of stuff wrong, but ill look past that... can you name all these uses? besides burning it, what do you do with it?... we're not stubborn, ur not stating any facts like we're asking. im not the one who started throwing insults around when he didnt know what facts he could even bring up. that was you. your "downgradering" yourself. yes, it might take time to replace it... but better now then never

  • fuck you don blankenship or blankenshit your a fucking lobist SOB like those in washing, Go Obama and hope he does get rid of massey energy...

  • no it was ignorance at its best you fucking idiot. closing your eyes and pretending that you dont negatively afftect the world around you isnt an accident. look at his "brain" running out of things to say! =]

  • no i have not. but im willing to believe that hmm.. maybe your areas wells might not have been affected!.... hmmm what a thought lol.. sort of sounds like reasoning

  • Don't blame the miners. They're just trying to make a living in an area with very limited career options.

Most of these guys spend their free time in the mountains riding ATVs, hunting, hiking, etc. Most of them love the mountains just as much as the rest of us.

Blame the coal companies if you wish but take it easy on the people who are just trying to pay their bills.

  • i agree with u completely kotton304... but id say fuckyamountains would rather us look at a desolate wasteland as long as it profitted those companies... good comment, most people who comment against the companies often tend to take it out on the workers

  • Simply put, the Mountains of West Virginia are an irreplaceable gift from God. Mountain Top Removal is an unconscionable act permanently destroying them. There is no justification for such a huge sin to my way of thinking. I wish more people ignoring their conscience reconsidered.

  • oh... did you even graduate highschool i was meaning to add? because it really doesnt seem so... what were you ranked? 3 out of 1000? im giving you the benefit of the doubt by saying the 3rd stupidest

  • I did graduate high school, if you don't want to ontinue this conversation, all you hav to do is stop responding! And you where the one that admitted about not knowing anything about coal! You don't know what is really going on because you research MTR stuff on the net. You find places like ohvec and crmw that only show the MTR in progress.

  • lol that sloth comment really did have me laughing for a while... i have to admit. hell i'll give you props for that... you sure are showing me you can carry a debate huh? umm i guess i'd backlash you with some random knowledge about how mtr is hurting people, but besides the "sloth" comment you really didnt post anything for me to disagree with... except

    1) hopefully by 2030 we will be using solar instead of inefficient plants

    2) i dont know the coal process (but i do know what it does)

  • oh, btw... i HAVE to be on the PC any ways because... IM IN COLLEGE... i thought we covered this lol... and come on you really cant tell me that you are best buds with don blankenship and you know all the inner workings of the company... dont you think there is a slight possibility that he's pulling the wool over your eyes? even a little? im through insulting you.. just look into it a little... you might be surprised at what you find.

  • I don't make my money as a strip miner, nor a deep miner. I see the viewpoint from both sides of surface/underground though. Are you against underground room and pillar mining too eastwood? If not it sure sounds like it! These people want coal GONE! First they start with surface mining, next they hit underground! Open your eyes! Coal is WV!!!

  • I agree with you about the economy of southern WV relying heavily on coal. I think the economic base needs to be broadened and other industries encouraged to move into the area. MTR is my main concern. I don't think we're ready, from a practical standpoint, to move away from coal altogether.

  • haha you are quite retarded..... too retarded for me to want to continue this conversation with. maybe someday you will read up on what you are talking about. if you even know how. this debate is over. i proved my point for people to look into things before they comment. which you obviously have not. i would give you my sn but i dont want your consant bombardment of useless babble. goodbye fuckyamountains aka stupid shit

  • oh and id also like to add, that you people must live on FOX news and what they say, and are obviously dont know well enough to follow the ties of money back to these corporations. I mean, i only watch FOX for entertainment purposes on how a news station can convince people that nothing negative can result from what we're doing. yea you might want me to move to canada, but that must be because you are metally unstable to live here yourself. did you even graduate highschool?

  • funny fucking thing, fox news is #1 why, beacause people know they are right. let me guess you watch cnn,the obama channel ? well if it is so factual, why isnt it#1?you really are a dumbass.

  • haha... and where did this idiott come from? constant inbreeding must be.... nah... im in college dumbass... i research... you get your shit off the media and thats why you dont know what your talking about. and no. im a moderate you tool. lol and dont wry i garantee you coal wont be around for long. and someday... if ur lucky.. u might work for a solar company =]

  • so yea... im sorry your tree-hugging hippy comment doesnt work in this case. please bring on the next contestant. i'd like to stay on topic and have a challege on this one. aren't you people ashamed that someone younger than you is owning you in debate?

  • and what the fuck is mary jane? please enlighten me... is that what you request from the boys at the gay bars you visit?

  • mary jane is the shit your queer ass smokes ,pot . damn pal, what are you 12? are you even old enough to be on here. you cant be,or maybe you have dick on your mind and had a brain fart, ii hear it happens to you homos a lot.

  • haha wow.. im sorry i dont know all the names for it like you. you seem to know all about it though. and know im sure i have a hotter girlfreind that anything you have ever done in your life. and no.. im in college just like i just said. arent you able to read? you uneducated fuck?

  • By that reasoning, if Brittany Spears has the number one song one week, that makes her the best singer that week. Mmmmmkay. I now see why you believe the other things you say...

  • Just because Al Gore's global warming bullshit lies where exposed does not give you all the right to compare Brittany Spears to the coal industry!

  • haha nah.. it just gives us the right to link brittany spears similarities with you lol
