  • Pure sel"fish"ness to keep such an exotic fish. Check out my fish tank and you'll see a rreal amazonian tank!

  • 3:09 oops, wall...

  • Black Pacu

  • georgia aquarium's got some nice pacus.

  • shit huge pacus

  • nice ANACONDA HAHA LOL!!

  • their head like an aztec carving dont they?

  • how big is that Arapaima

  • if someone love arapaima... give him/her home

  • @drunkdivamariahcarey

Like RainbowShaker said: give him/her something like a public swimming pool.

  • THATS A HUGE PACU!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @youngoutdoorsman2001

    Oh yes, it is.

  • lol wish i had that big tank xd nice arapima and pacus ;p

  • @TheGoldfishyube

    It's a 28.000 liter tank, that's 7400 us gallon.

  • Naja, also um einen Arapaima artgerecht halten zu können bräuchte man eigtl ein Freibad, aber naja....was manche Zoos so unter artgerechter Haltung verstehen.

  • @RainbowShaker

Ja. Das Becken hat 28.000 Liter und ist 7 x 2 x 2 Meter groß. Wirkt aber immernoch zu klein.

  • @n03lzz

  • Thats crazy big. I know what it is, and what it isnt, BUT it looks like an Arowana body with a Clown Knife head on it, just huge!

  • @Ginger428

All of them are very old fish species.

  • 1:46 what a weird skin texture

  • @nerdelicious5

Reminds me of the skin of Ridley Scotts Alien.^^

  • Seriously ugly fish, but omg that is sweet as!

  • @175myles

    They are just badass. ;)

  • dude that arapaima is sickly haha

  • @source9

    Yesss...?^^

  • how many gallons dude

  • @1524raely:

    To my knowledge it's a 7 x 2 x 2 meter tank with 28000 liter.

    That's 23 x 6.4 x 6.4 feet with 7400 us gallon.

  • haha..the arapaima looks dull..dont know why but in South east asia its more reddish in color :D

  • @DemonDrug95:

Yeah i've also seen much more reddish ones. I only read that their color can vary between green-silverish and a shiny pink.

  • @DemonDrug95 I thought pirarucu are only from the amazon. Maybe youre thinking of arowana?

  • @DemonDrug95 lol i meant in the zoo and aquariums :)

    arowanna is smaller :)

  • its huge

  • Yessss...

  • Arapaima looks sad

  • Uhm, don't know...

  • Although it fits the amazonian theme the amazon river does not consist of only two types of fish. But the again, if neon tetras were put in this tank, they'd be gone by next morning. Its really hard to create a balanced prey predator system as tanks are too small to allow prey fish to escape their fans(devourers). So most of the time you're stuck with either a community tank, a species tank, a specimen tank, or a semi aggressive community tank

  • That's right.

  • my pacu is much bigger than this

  • I watched your video, how big is yours? These are 1 meter (3.3 feet)...

  • is it? mine is 3 feet only

  • Ahh. Got a video of it? If not can you make one? I'd love to see a huge Pacu.

  • already a video posted watch my videos

  • is it true that in germany its illegal to keep any fish in tanks less than 12 gallons?, if so, we need that here in UK, so many goldfish die of stunted growth.

  • Yes, that's true.

  • They set up tanks quite nicely in Germany. These are some awesome displays, thanks for sharing.

  • My Pleasure!

  • Was this taken in KLCC Aquarium?

I remember seeing 2 Arapaimas in a tank b4 along with Pacus last year as well.

Arapaima, nicknamed Dragon Fish due to its' resemblance to the body of a dragon if you see it from the surface, is rumored to be aggresive and drowns small mammals.

  • Hi, no it's taken in Cologne, Germany.

  • now i´m living on Colombia i saw this 2 fishes on the local supermarket like food , for me was incredible because i always see this fishes on my local pet store on México , it´s mice to see it well alive thanks for share your local zoo videos

  • Hi, thank you for your nic comment. I've a almost equal experience when i first see pangasius in the deep freezer. Till that time, i only noticed them as Iridescent shark in the pet stores.

  • man belive me or not in fish markets in BANGLADESH giant knife fish, huge catfishes, dwarf gouramis, green snake heads , tilapias(cichlids),climbing qouramis, walking catfishes, huge pangasius catfishes, half beaks,

and ect. are sold as food fish although they taste awesome

  • Why shouldn't i belive that?^^ I also like to eat local fish... but here in Germany.

  • what they feed araipimas and pacus?

  • I feed Tilapias and useless Cichlids to Arapaimas. For Pacus, anything I throw inside (that can fit into their mouth), they eat.

  • Define "useless cichilds"

  • Useless Cichlids are hybrid Cichlids that have either cross bred with one another in the wild or at farms. Take the Flowerhorn for example... The perfectly bred ones are sold for a high price whereas the LOUSY ones are not killed but released into the wild.. Dang! These Cichlids kill lots of other native fish... And they never stop reproducing!!!

  • I think flowerhorns are pretty neat. Imports don't devour their way into the natural ecosystem unless , as you said yourself, released. Its not the fish thats useless or lousy, its the breeder in question thats useless AND lousy. ditto on convicts, but not so much on blood parrots.

  • for your information they feed these honkers human beings who are given the death sentence. Saves the government trouble on buying rope for hangings.

  • hey really? u r kinda jocking

  • Nope. It was a program started in the late 1990 called GFUHTBF(Give fucking humans to big fish) Starting in the UK, its now a worldwide program sponsored by all prisons.

  • dude your scaring the children , lol

  • Scares convicts even more

  • cat fish and snakeheads are true but others are not

  • How old would the Arapaima be; it's HUGE! Those pacus don't know how lucky they are to be in that massive tank! I've seen some vids where the tank is about 3 times the size of the actual pacu - very cruel. Lovely video, great detail!

  • I visited this tank a few times. This time i took my camera with me, but i missed the second arapaima which was in there for a few years. I don't know what happend to him.. anyway..

    Thank you!

  • animals are most happy in their wild habitats no matter predetors or prey nature has perfect balance

  • The major premiss of fishkeeping should be trying to recreate such habitats.

  • i agree but this tank msy be a bit over crowded

altough it slightly resembles the amazon.

  • Yes, this tank isn't the best example.

  • Huge do you own them

  • Huge Fish Do you own them

  • Hi,

unfortunately it's not my tank. This is a tank of a Zoo Aquarium near my hometown. Those fish most be very expensive... Think about the transport.^^

Face to face with one of the biggest fish in the world: 2:06

The attack of an arapaima: 2:40

  • Yeah you would have to get a pool to transport

  • Yes, right.^^
