i am proud to say that the philippine army is considered ONE of the BEST fighters on earth when it comes to jungle warfare..to tell you the truth during the vietnam war guerillia warfare of the vietnamese is not effective against the jungle techniques of the philippine army..well if you dont believe on what im saying then better ask the veterans who fought on that war the specially the vietnamese

youre wrong headsandtail, war in the desert is far more easy than fighting in a jungle. the desert is only wide but theres not enough place to hide so the only option is to hide under the sand but in the jungle theres a numerous posibilities and hiding spots that you can use for your advantage or the enemy might use it also against you

the american army also admits that war in the desert is only a catwalk compared to the jungle.. even they have enough equipments GPS computers, radars etc. its still not enough for them to survive. so their lost of soldiers is too many compared in the desert. their total deaths in the desert is only 10-15% of what they lost in everytime they fight in a jungle

these are all different scenarios.......coz' in the urban it's all about formation and flankin, desert warfare is a big picture which requires quite an amount of offensive force, while jungle can be accomplished with prolly a squad or 2 but in sorta "rambo" style lol.

jungle warfare cant just easily accomplished just by using only a small squad, coz everytime soldiers go on a mission that means the jungle itself is a trap and every trees and every possible areas are considered deadly because of scattered traps,you already watched some action movies right?some of those traps are true and can be use in an actual combat

like a string connected to a granade (which is used mostly to surprise the comming enemy and used in a jungle battle) the trap holes with spikes and scatterd barb wires. we already tried making those last 2 traps (R.O.T.C survival training) then after a few hours a wild chicken is been cought and you know what the chicken looked like its been massacred

i can tell coz i personally interview an american soldier (ranked L.t) in camp fort binifacio in taguig city during our R.O.T.C. that soldier already fought in both terrains so he can tell the difference. and also the only reason why americans die in the desert is because of the land mines and bombs that terrorists plant.

so u spoke with one? hmmm...anyways, the reason they die in desert is coz' the opponents are hidden within caves and can easily pick them from a distance, esp. convoys, escorsts and recons.

no headsandtail, the americans dont suffer that much in ambushes because everytime they patrol they always have satelites and hellicopters (apache) for back-up. the reason why they suffer too much cassualties is because they try to defuse the planted bomb. then sometimes BOOM! a lot of them got killed because of the impact and flying scrap nails. thats what the soldier said to me.
