I think the video is great. It *is* dark and grotesque, and suits the group just fine. People seem to miss the commentary, which says a lot about the point they are trying to make here.
Where'd all those coochies come from? They must have been shooting a hip-hop video next door and got lost. Not that I'm complaining. Maybe it's some new requirement they have these days, "All videos must contain at least one minute of coochies shaking their butts in the camera," like some FDA thing, or maybe it's a union deal? And what's with the waves? They should have green screened Nick in on a surfboard.

It is a ridiculous joke. I find it hilarious.
Nick Cave basically asked what was popular in music videos nowadays and this is what he got.
The women were actually dancing to something generic that they are used to dancing to and knew nothing about what the actual song was.
It's not objectifying women, it's a social commentary.
