  • why did you use the clicer , when loding in the trailler

  • that just looked to easy very well done. it took me two hours of training for my mare just to walk in with ME lol shes does that good now but i still cant get her to go in without me do you have anything that i could try i mean i really dont mind going in with her just wish i could stand at the gate of trailer and load her and my trailer is just like yours by the way well anyways i like your videos and i watched the one about you and hobble braking and some people can just be very rude!! sorry

  • @jessethemes ou might try just holding his head at the back of the trailer & tap his but with a whip a little like I do in the video, that will usually work. But if you have to lead him on what the heck, that's better than fighting with them. Good luck!

  • lol! the dog gets on and off the trailer really well!

  • @MrChamponion LOL Paris learned it faster than the colt!

  • aww what a sweet colt! wish my fella was the same size as ur babies =) i have a 17h draft cross...he is just as well behaved as ur colt but might not fit in that trailer lol

gonna look for a smaller horse next yr maybe....nice video =)

  • @lakota123max LOL, I'm old & like shorter horses! I enjoy working with colts. Check out my web site, I have a blog og some of the stuff i'm doing.

  • The fastest way to get that colt to jump in the trailer, is to sic your heeler on him! Just kidding. Nice colt by the way.

  • @granitehills2t LOL 'ol Paris is to friendly to sic anything! I just green broke the colt & sold him to a lady in NC, he is a nice horse.

  • great to see some people that dont hate colts! i have a nine month old filly and the owner of her father hates colt and treats his stallion like a peice of meat , and tells me that if i get a colt from his stallion i have to cut him! even tho im paying for this stallion to cover my mare anyways great job this mite help me with my filly!

  • My daughter and I got Elliot into the trailor with no problem , Just watched your vid and took our time!

  • Just taking your time & not scaring or making them mad is the most important part of it. Just do it when you are in a good mood & have all the time in the world & it usually turns out just fine..

  • Really nice video!

You're gentle and patient with your horses. I respect and appreciate that. I've seen far too many people beat their horses.

  • You just need to be easy with colts & not scare them or make them mad & you will do great...Check out my other videos,,

  • Thank you, I appreciate it...........

  • Thank you...I appreciate your comments.I Like horses & what I do. I

have other videos on here if you care to watch...

  • @pdj47 ur have a very nice way with horses..nice to see since so many ppl are cruel and want things done fast and stupid instead of slow and correct..keep up the good work=)

  • @lakota123max Thank you, I appreciate it. He is with a pro roper in Mississippi now.

  • Great concept but you might want to build a new platform. Around 2:11 when you're stepping off of it, your own foot went thru the rotten wood! Not sure if I would want to be backing a horse off of the platform into that piece of machinery either.

  • Not sure where you got the rotten wood deal? Where can I find a video of you handling colts?

  • I really like your training technique. I had never thought about using a wood platform. It would also help with training a horse to step up onto a bridge for an arena trail class.

  • If f you have one that is really sour about loading or stepping up on something like that a couple panels on either side to make an alley up to it helps but if you start colts like this it really works well & in just a few minutes your horse will load on most anything easily for the rest of it's life. Most all loading issues are started the first time they are loaded. So try to get ut right the first time.

  • The thing is is Toby and winston are PMU rescues. so the have been scared of trailers ever since the auction.

  • Just take your time & fool with them long before you want to haul them. If they tie ok, just being tied to a trailer for long periods of time sure won't hurt.

  • Hi Again! If you want to know how bad the 2 horses are, look at 1:40 on the video:

Trailer Loading ex race horse "GELANOR"

That is how bad "Toby" is. His brother "Winston" is not AS bad.

  • Yikes,it got a little western for a while! I'm not a big fan of the ramp trailers. The horses many times will go to the side of them & can get a leg under the ramp. Also on a trailer with a side gate you can use it as a wing. Looks like ya got him going though!!

  • Oh! Sorry. That horse in the video is not mine. I was just using that horse as a example of how bad toby is.

  • If your still having trouble with yours try building a little platform like I have in the video. & having kind of an alley on the sides like that fence & the manure spreader in the video is a good thing if you can ad something like that to funnel the wilder, more spoiled ones to get on it. Just holler if I can help.

  • my best freinds horse used to just trot in there he loved it

  • The horse I ride could care less about trailering.

  • lol

  • Yesterday we where loading 2 horses to take to a horse show. One just rears and steps of the ramp and the second horse it took us 3 hours to get him in! He just rears and kicks and we need to put a rope around his but that is tied to the trailer to pull him in, but yesterday that did not work when we were leaving the horse show!! What should we do?!

  • First start by loading when you have plenty of time & don't make it a fight. Try building a pedestal like I have to get them used to stepping up where they don't feel trapped. Watch the video again & try it just like that..But again, take your time..

  • That was amazing> THe first time the horse got loaded on a trailer, WOW. Well that was really smart of you to make the step to start with.

  • Just letting them step up on there & hear that hollow sound while they don't feel trapped & can see around them makes a big difference & remember to not pull their head up where they can't see where they are going.& most of all just take your time the first few times.

  • Gracias por el video

  • Thank you...Just a simple pedestal like that can make a big difference & try not to pull their heads up so they can see where they are going...

  • in sweden everybody have ramps on their trailers...

  • Few ramps in my part of the US.I really don't like them much as green colts just don't seem to load to good with them & if they fly back off the corners of it they can get a leg wedged under it.But as I said I've never been around them much.

  • I know, it's kind a scary when the horse is going to get out of it, and its hard if you're alone and are trying to get the horse out by yourself, but one thing that's good is that, if the horse is injured and hardly can't walk and haves to go to a vet, the horse don't have to "jump" into the trailer. Get my point?

  • If that is an issue you can just back a regular trailer in a ditch & the horse can just walk in.Many trailers in the US are used for cattle also so the ramps just aren't practical on them.

  • my mare had trouble with loading in our trailer at fist, ( she`s clumbsy) so my dad built me ramps off our trailer, lol metal grates with plywood over makes good ramps!

  • well done great job u sure know what ur doing! :) Gawjuss colt and very well behaved!

  • Thank you...Start with a colt that is bred for what you want to do & treat it like a horse instead of a pet cat & you'll end up with a nice horse..

  • very good method! i got my colt in a trailer for the first time when he was 2 weeks old (i bought him and his mama, and had to get them to my barn), then i worked with him a lot and he loves the trailer! he can't wait to go places lol.

  • Good for you, sounds like you have him off to a good start....pdj

  • ya, he is pretty much the best behaved colt i have ever seen lol now he is a year and a half old. i have even put a pony saddle on him a couple of time, just so he can get used to the cinch

  • I put a few easy rides on mine at that age, just 5-10 minutes & i don't ask for much, just carry me around some. Then turn them back out till spring.Have a couple videos of the first couple rides.

  • very cool. he got bastard strangles after i had him gelded, and he is still recovering from that. it was horrible lol he had to have 2 surgeries

  • Is he a red dun paint?!?! Oh I am in love with that horse! I'm a sucker for those red duns and even more so with all that white! His blaze is so pretty. Oh and nice job loading him too, I like the way you let him think about it and don't mess with him otherwise. Thank you for the ideas!

  • He is AQHA.Take your time, don't scare them or make them mad & you'll be fine. I always have nice colts for sale & am happy to answer private mails if you have questions i might be able to help with.

  • WOW!!What a nice colt!! I love your style!!!

  • Thank you..The little platform makes a big difference & is easy to build, try it. I always have yearlings & started colts for sale.

    pdj

  • Awesome job! A great idea that platform you've got. I had to laugh when you said about people not loading them until they need to go somewhere, so true!
