  • Great Technique !!!!!

  • Even though Robert Cray doesn't play like that, this guy really knows how to "lay it down". :P

  • its just a robert cray strat, doesn't mean he has to play robert cray style music.. by the way awesome playing!

  • u damn good!!! dont give a damn on ppl saying ur playing is not Cray's style coz u already got a cool one!! And im glad to know that i could get the sound like that from Cray's signature as well.. u rock!!

  • LOL love the comments from people who cant read he is playing a Robert Cray not playing like him. He is pretty dam good I wish bashers would post a video reply most probly cant even play.

  • Are you guys fucking retarded?

He never said that he was playing Robert Cray's style or music.

It is a Robert Cray Custom Shop Stratocaster. Learn to read the description before getting your panties in a bunch.

  • What's that strat behind with the reverse headstock??????

  • good playing but kinda dissapointed in the robert cray department and all round feel to your playing is lacking had a couple of good licks though

  • good man! check out my videos!

  • Don't you have a wall to bash your head against? Cray wouldn't even bother to TALK to you with that look-at-me horsesh*t you're streamin!

  • What's with the Robert Cray talk?

This is more like Robin Trower and I doubt there's an attempt to sound like anyone here anyway.

  • sounds like Rory Gallagher SOUND my BROS !

  • Alot of sustain from the hardtail.

  • But play it slower in order to look more like a blue song

  • you really know how to play blues, great job :)

ps: I LOVE YOUR GUITAR :)

  • more like a rock improvisation

  • Rock Feel in a G Blues Scale...

Some good ideas there in the style your in...Keep up the Improv.

  • Very gooood playing ,you are very goood guitarplayer

  • Wow, super nice work on the guitar my man. Great tone as well.

  • Phääänomeeeenallll !!!

    Aber das Ende fehlt.

  • Waow. :o

  • awesome! I began studing improvisation today,in G scale. But is so hard, I don't have creativity and imagination :(

  • If you had some poppy lyrics to that could be a pretty grooby hit man.. digging the riff

  • Bro! you rock!! What kind of amp or pedals are you using???

  • I listened all the way through and only realized at the end it was 7 minutes long. Really enjoyable.

  • Speed with great phrasing and plenty of soul, that's extremely rare. Great talent my friend.

  • Nice.

  • do you have any clean song with this guitar?

  • Alteeeer was war dasssss dennnn :O

    Hammergeil!

  • Outstanding demo, love the fingerwork and the tone and just picked up a Robert Cray. Looking for a Jimmie Vaughan, and Jeff Beck model, alrady have a Clapton,Guy, Mayer and Johnson., 57 and 62 vintage

  • Standing while playing helps stay away from being engulfed by one's playin'

your body is music/electric, gotta let the energy flow. That just my hippie-loser comment for the day. I like 'feeling over fast' anyday, and u got feelin' buddy, I wouldn't waste my time on all those fast licks.

  • fucking great!

  • If you don't have any use for that guitar anymore, you can always send it to me!

  • This guy fakan rips.

  • Nice playing, but I'd like to see you play something that actually resembles Cray's sound.

  • No problem ;)

  • amazing thick sound

  • немчура ёпть...

  • Lol the only thing you do Deejack1414

is use when you have the pick in your had have your thumb a little close to the edge of the pick then bend up and make sure your thumb touches the string also while you are bending up :)

  • pinch harmonics. i figured it out. im in the process of perfecting it. thank you for the comment.

  • 0:36-0:47 how do you make those squealing noises with the guitar? ive been trying at that for months.

  • This is not how Robert Cray plays nor how his guitar sounds.

  • agreed

  • Thts why its called an improvisation..

  • its hsi guitar tho fuckwit

  • @drcroxs Haha please. :) This is so much better than robert cray has ever played

  • very nice tone ! amazing .....

    good equipments.....

  • pause at 0:27

  • Try The STRATosphere ebay store.

  • this is still the best comment ever here:

    PeterMacland (2 years ago)

how come you play with a shredder sound on the robert cray?!

  • it's a keeper

  • I wanted to ask you one thing! what type of pickups does this guitar have to get this tone?!

    please reply...thanks..and great playing!

  • wow sounds like a keeper =D

  • It sounds very much like RHCP's song Readymade.

  • Do you have the backing track available for us to download?

  • What beatbox are you using here? Maybe a Boss DR880 or something like that?

  • realy realy realy realy nice playing i love the way it fits with the drums

  • i would say rock not blues

  • I think it depends on the player. the guitar can do rock and blues and many other styles.

  • how much is that guitar

  • about six hundred

  • I believe it's around 3 grand... Comes in 3 color sunburst (like this one), silver, and violet.

  • isnt this the player deluxe? heard it was in the 600s

  • Go the the Fender website "Nspade13" and look up "Custom Shop Guitars". You'll quite a few artist-specific guitars there. Most of them are in the $3000 dollar range I'd say. But you can still get a standard intro Fender for like $600 dollar though, and they sound pretty good too.

  • I'm pretty sure the MIM is 600 and the MIA is 3000

  • Nice!

Anyone who complains about this is just being a dick.

  • good stuff man, what gauge strings do you use?

  • all inizio sembrava buono, poi.. ha smesso di suonare.

  • that was awesome

  • Excellent!

  • Hey i was just wondering what your doing with your strumming hand at 26sec during that hold?

  • this is a stab in the dark, but i would say............nothing?

  • aha i was thingking that, but i was just curious.

  • Bravo man!!!! What is the pitch that you use and what kind of strings?

  • I visited your web site and saw the Marshalls. I knew it! Thank you! good stuff.

  • Would be great to clarify if that is an Orange amp. Great tone.

  • pretty good till you started running up and down scales. thats not the blues.

  • oh great sustain

  • oh, ok. yeah, I wondered where the head to it was too. I don't know, it might be on the floor or something.

  • still a good vid dude

  • ur guitar sucks mine has a whammy bar

  • yeah, but he prolly plays better than you. No offense.

  • Fender Custom Shops Stratocasters are definitely not sucky guitars. His playing is great too. Not a shreader but it very musical and expressive.

  • what amps and effects(if used)? and settings were used on the amp? i love that tone.

  • "Great" video .You go all over the place.Awesome

  • I just got a used 2008 Cust Shop and put on new strings because the one on it snaped. I cant keep the guitar in tune????? Im afriad to call Metal Shop Guitars and tell them. They said send it back if you dont like it when I asked about the guitars origions. (sure if they pay shipping) I feel like they'd bite my head off.

  • is that an orange cabinet in the background?

  • that's an orange amp, not a cabinet. orange amps are wicked sweet. I would say they are the best in the world.

  • i know i know. but are you sure it is? i mean i dont see an amp head, and orange combo amps dont look like that.

  • Yeah, I'm pretty sure. the screen on the front of it looks exactly like the orange amps. (plus it's orange) I don't know of another amp that's orange. (although you could be right) I just thought since he's a musician, that that's probably a orange amp.

  • i think you misunderstand me here. he is using an orange amp. its just that that is the cabinet for their half stack amp, and i dont see a head for it anywhere. yes it definately is an orange. positive it is. definately the most legendary tone around.

  • Super^^ Strat rulez.

  • i like the 60's style Bass/drums combo also..... keep on rockin' !

  • ehhhh not bad... expand harmonically with that same sound..

  • how do you get that type of thickness out of a strat? texas specials?

  • Like the 60's style Bass/drums combo also.

  • very good.. kinda falls apart around the middle tho

  • omg ur my fucking idol bro amazing playing and amazing style

  • 62 strat are my paborito but whene i saw the guitar on the crossroad wen he play times makes two, and i think twice 62 or R.Cray signature guitar they both kick my Ass!!!!!!

  • lol^^

  • My favorite comment in the history of this video, going wayyyy back:

"how come you play with a shredder sound on the robert cray?!"

  • amen to that, not the best way to show off that guitar.

  • Improvastion! Yes, I love that song too!

  • Great Job! I love improvisations!

  • Idk why im honestly stating my opinion cause i do realize hes demoing a Robert Cray signature strat and the pickups are made to sound like that but if it were my own guitar the pickups would be so hot.

  • I love groovey riffs, sounds great

  • Love those Dean headstocks...*snicker*

  • no chance Fender all the fucking way

  • stratocaster best guitar in the world:P

  • cool as fuck dude...nice 1 cheers

  • This should serve as a wake up......STRATOCASTERS FUCKIN RULE ALWAYS!!!

  • verdammt fetter riff

  • fantastic playing, why did you not look at the fret board duing the difficult part of the solo, was it to piss everyone off?

Really enjoyed the work though seriously, great stuff

  • Wow.. great playin' :) :)

  • cool sustaine dude

  • wow dude..wasnt expecting that ....great stuff.....!!!!!

  • guv-nor distortion?

  • MAN HE'S HOTTTT!!!!!!..That's music..play that funky music white boy!!!

  • YOURE JAMMIN MAN!!!

  • custom shops arnt made in mexico

    theyre made in corona, ca

  • My friend... all i can say is AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!!

Fantastic tone and feeling.. You really put your heart into it.. nice use of harmonics too!

  • Dude, I am on the f***ing floor. You are an inspiration to all who play, used to play, or ever wanted to play...

  • Are you using a Backing track to this, it sounds to me like something from Deep Purple, I know I 've heard it before but can't place where.

You play it really well, inspiration for me to carry on learning the guitar, but at 44, I think it will be my next lifetime before I get this good, lol.

  • Thank you . . .

  • what pedals do you use??

  • Fantastic playing--so good to hear! What other gear are you using with that axe?

  • Who ever you are who is playing that guitar, you are really, really, really Gooood!!! Jimi Hendrix would say WOW if he could hear you!!!

  • i thinks its the Fender Deluxe Players Stratocaster. thats the one im getting soon. im pretty sure thats wat it is.

  • Is mexican made isnt? . . .

  • The beginning reminds me of a Ten Years After song.

  • pretty bad ass you mean...

  • come on even if you dont like the style (which i do btw) You must be able to see the skill this guy has!

  • Yeah, He shoud be playing a caparison through the brutlz peavey 5150. \M/ Metal Rulz! Bang your head!

  • Is the neck on the Robert C. model thicker than on a American delux strat? I heard they were, but I've never had my hands on one before. Very nice playing!

  • Man...

    YOU KICK ASS!

  • Just whois this guy, he is dare I say, inspirational, I watch this clip over and over again, I could ever play like this, then where else do you need to go?

  • wow!you have some skill man.wish i could play like that.

  • i felt this.

  • Would a Mexican robert cray strat sound the same ???, the pickups are the same

  • different woods will alter the sound just as much if not more than the pick ups. you also need to make sure the neck joins the body like one solid peice. however, mexican strats are a good buy and better than a squire pack any day

  • Surely a Mexican Robert Cray would sound Spanish?? :D

  • teach me

  • Brilliant playing, just wish I could get like thant on my squier strat.

  • I've been playing guitar for thirtyfive years,

all you young up and coming guitarist listen up this is how its done.

  • Almost Zappa-esque at times! Neat.

  • most likely not...i have all of his releases, and the earlier stuff all shows Greg with a Strat, in hand or in the background on stands. i think he plays ESP now...

  • any Strat played vid/tune must be first compared to Greg Howe's performances on any of his albums/vids. he is the master of the Strat, although i think he has his own shit now, and no longer plays Fender...i may be wrong, but check it out...

  • nice playing indeed, the guitar has a great amount of sustain....very nice....

  • Good Soul!!

  • Great shit dude!!!

  • i was trying to play this.. and i ended up getting pretty close to your tone.. i was using a fender standard 60th anniversary strat and a fender hot rod deluxe lmtd edition with a boss sd-1.

  • nice

  • This should be called Encyclopedia of cliches.

  • That's a compliment in disguise...

  • awesome!
