I think it's possible that Jim faked his death. Why? Because he repeatedly talked about with the band members and friends. One thing he feared was slipping into 'has been' status. He also was sentenced to 60 days hard labor for the Miami incident...after which the media turned on him. He also hated the image of a sex-god that remained despite his slovenly appearance at the end. If ever there was a time for a disappearing act, Paris was the time.
