As much as everyone loves Idina and Kristin, I think that the current London cast is amazing with Rachel Tucker and Gina Beck. I think that Wicked is kind of better with British accents because Rachel is a really sarcastic Elphaba and it works really well.

I saw this show live on Broadway earlier this month (Birthday gift from my girlfriend) and it exceeded my expectations. Jackie Burns performance as Elphaba was amazing.

@nibby95 i do agree with you having mixed feelings about turning the show into a movie, 'cause it might take away the magic of it all. i mean, watching the flying scene in DG will never be as awe-inspiring using CG special effects.
@atheneum7 exactly. also for a movie the songs will probably be pre-recorded and tweaked and it just won't be the same. like you said with the flying scene, it's great to see that live but on camera anything can be done using green screen and all that. the cast won't always be together like they would be onstage or back stage. they would show up to film their parts and then leave so less bonding. there is so much that would be different.
@nibby95 watching live theater is just a different experience entirely. also, the casting will be quite tricky. admittedly, i'd be biased and won't be able to help but compare whoever will play these iconic roles with the originals. just the other day, i caught this commercial of wicked run in singapore, and they included a clip of DG showing the touring Elphaba but with the original recording of Idina in the background. i found it quite amusing!

Boy it's good they dropped "Get Me to the Party," what a dog of a song. They also really worked on making Fiero much more attractive too (costumes, hair pieces...) Definite improvements!
Seriously, WHY HASN'T THIS BEEN INTO A MOVIE YET??!! It should've been a movie YEARS ago! Fingers crossed that when/if it becomes a movie they get Idina and Kristen to reprise their roles as Elphaba and Glinda!
I also think that if Idina couldn't do it that Lea Michele could do it. She's like a mini Idina! Seriously!! Plus she's been on broadway too in the musical "Spring Awakening" and is a REALLY good actress! X3

i totally agree, but i kinda think that they're waiting for the popularity of the show to shrink a little bit, before they make a movie. maybe when the sales drop a little, i don't know... and i think that by making a movie, they could also buy a few more years of popularity on broadway, who knows... but god knows when will it happen. i think idina once said that by the time they start making the movie, she could easily be cast as elphaba's gramma... :D
idina and kristin have recently been informed by the producers of the yet-to-come movie that they will not be playing elphaba/glinda because of their "age". MAJOR disapointment. they could have pulled it off, actually, they would have pulled it off better than anyone will be able to ever do.

The movie is several years away in the future. They don't want to take away from ticket sales of the show. Idina has said this and she also said she might be too old which I wouldnt care because I would not see the movie if Idina and Kristin weren't in it.
I love that all the way through the section with the dance rehearsal and even when the guy is talking you can hear Idina and Kristin in the background rehearsing and cheering them on lol
@chips240 I don't think she is all bad, plus having a slightly softer side helps to make her more human and believable as a character. She genuinely loves boq, she does care for Elphie :)

My 11 year old daughter is obsessed with this show. She saw it once in Providence and listens to the music constantly and knows all the lyrics. She actually sings pretty well and I think would be perfect for Glinda! Maybe she can be in the movie! That would be amazing!

i really think that wicked should become a movie with Kristen Chennowith and Idina Menzel... There wonderful actors....If you do you guys should ask the actors from glee to be apart of it to..I LOVE WICKED!
In my opinion, I don't think the Glee actors could handle Wicked (Don't worry, I love Glee) but I don't think they could have that voice...or acting parts. I can't see them in it, I think Eden, Idina, or someone on Broadway who did the musical should be in it. So they know what to except and there's no hestiation. That's just my opinion.
i really wish they had stuck w/certain things they did in the workshops ('which way to the party" , dance sections, etc), but they know why they did what they did, and it's given us what will surely be a classic american musical for the ages :D I LOVE WICKED!!

I disagree with this, SJB herself said that they went with Idina because she had more experience then her...Winnie Holzman herself also said she had NO idea who Idina was before she walked in, and plus, they went on a nationa wide search for an actress and Idina was one of the last ones to audition and she nailed it (well...sorta, she kinda funked up a note and swore outloud hahaha)
I wish I could meet kristin for one reason because shes up and down and all around. not hiper, but she keeps you going. She would probably kill me, because of her jokes, from laughter.

Guys, I doubt they will do the movie. They are sick of Wicked!! As they have said tons of times, they loved being in the show, but they were in it for like 4 years! That's a long time, and after doing the same thing for four years in a row, it gets old. I don't think they would be up for doing it all over again especially in a movie. You guys just think "oh! they'll do it!" Obviously 4 years isn't a lot to you guys. They were in that show as long as you're in high school!

They have been involved in the production since the beginning which was a total of four years. They were performing on the Bway stage for a year and a half, but as for rehearsals and being involved in the creative process, they were with Wicked and put everything into it for four years, so um, hate to burst your buble but they were in it for four years.
@DeeZeno3 That's just awesome, coz I can tell you now that if they offered the part of Elphie to Idina she would accept straight away. I can tell you that it is definite, but nobody has been contacted about the movie yet.
@DeeZeno3 They need to make a movie with all the original cast in it, except the monkeys, because they can do CGI for that. If they make a movie with a different cast in the near future, I will be very put out!
they're not making a movie until the broadway production is closed. which might be a few good years. kristin and idina might not be in it depending on their age or weather if its based off the musical. it could be based off the book. who knows.
I think they want to wait to make the movie so that people will watch the Broadway show. But honestly, couldn't they just make the movie now so that Idina and Kristin could be in it and then release in a few years? I know that's not how it goes, but it would definitely solve the whole age issue.
it sucks, but for the movie, they aren't keeping OBC, at least not for their original roles. Think about it. Kristin is about 40, Idina is late 30s. no, that's not old, but when the movie comes out, they will be well into their 40s. These characters are supposed to be around 20. They can't pull it off. And I know they are so talented, but, let's face it, age is important
i'm not sure. I don't think anyone is. Imdb won't tell you anything, because the page title says 2010, but the release date says 2016. all of the cast lists are rumored, there are about 4 galindas and elphabas apiece, and they are all what people WANT to have as their cast. the only thing that isn't rumored is that they ARE making a movie, but the rest is one big question mark

I was waiting 2-5 years to see this with my dad. (He REALLY wanted to see it too!)
And I remember the lights going down and I got this really weird feeling in my stomach and there was tears in my eyes.

The movie is several years away in the future. They don't want to take away from ticket sales of the show. Idina has said this and she also said she might be too old which I wouldnt care because I would not see the movie if Idina and Kristin weren't in it.

My 11 year old daughter is obsessed with this show. She saw it once in Providence and listens to the music constantly and knows all the lyrics. She actually sings pretty well and I think would be perfect for Glinda! Maybe she can be in the movie! That would be amazing!

In my opinion, I don't think the Glee actors could handle Wicked (Don't worry, I love Glee) but I don't think they could have that voice...or acting parts. I can't see them in it, I think Eden, Idina, or someone on Broadway who did the musical should be in it. So they know what to except and there's no hestiation. That's just my opinion.

i really wish they had stuck w/certain things they did in the workshops ('which way to the party" , dance sections, etc), but they know why they did what they did, and it's given us what will surely be a classic american musical for the ages :D I LOVE WICKED!!

Kristin Chanoweth- ( she hits the high notes like no other gilinda iv ever seen but only problem is shes getting up there in age so it will be a little harder to make her a collage student)
Nessarose- Michelle Federer (she did a phenominal job on broadway)
Fiyero- Richard Blake
Madame Morrible- Carole Shelley

I disagree with this, SJB herself said that they went with Idina because she had more experience then her...Winnie Holzman herself also said she had NO idea who Idina was before she walked in, and plus, they went on a nationa wide search for an actress and Idina was one of the last ones to audition and she nailed it (well...sorta, she kinda funked up a note and swore outloud hahaha)

there's this really posh theatre near my place and we go for all kinds of shows...
sadly there has'nt been any good productions for a long time,at the momment it is showing "the sound of music" whitch I think is totally CRAP because it is just so typical! ok we get it! but I wish one day they'de bring wicked

Guys, I doubt they will do the movie. They are sick of Wicked!! As they have said tons of times, they loved being in the show, but they were in it for like 4 years! That's a long time, and after doing the same thing for four years in a row, it gets old. I don't think they would be up for doing it all over again especially in a movie. You guys just think "oh! they'll do it!" Obviously 4 years isn't a lot to you guys. They were in that show as long as you're in high school!

They have been involved in the production since the beginning which was a total of four years. They were performing on the Bway stage for a year and a half, but as for rehearsals and being involved in the creative process, they were with Wicked and put everything into it for four years, so um, hate to burst your buble but they were in it for four years.

they're not making a movie until the broadway production is closed. which might be a few good years. kristin and idina might not be in it depending on their age or weather if its based off the musical. it could be based off the book. who knows.

I think they want to wait to make the movie so that people will watch the Broadway show. But honestly, couldn't they just make the movie now so that Idina and Kristin could be in it and then release in a few years? I know that's not how it goes, but it would definitely solve the whole age issue.

it sucks, but for the movie, they aren't keeping OBC, at least not for their original roles. Think about it. Kristin is about 40, Idina is late 30s. no, that's not old, but when the movie comes out, they will be well into their 40s. These characters are supposed to be around 20. They can't pull it off. And I know they are so talented, but, let's face it, age is important

i'm not sure. I don't think anyone is. Imdb won't tell you anything, because the page title says 2010, but the release date says 2016. all of the cast lists are rumored, there are about 4 galindas and elphabas apiece, and they are all what people WANT to have as their cast. the only thing that isn't rumored is that they ARE making a movie, but the rest is one big question mark
