  • some really clowns in nursing school.they should go to clown school instead.

  • looks as if they are med students !!! practice on each other, done all thre time,,

  • I hated doing these!!!

  • The word gastric and intubation really should never be in the same sentence.........if you have any idea what you're doing or saying!!!!!!!

  • @sendittobryce

Intubation simply means placing a tube in the body. Endotracial intubation involves the airway, but there are many different forms of intubation, with just as many reasons behind them.

Nasogastric intubation is most commonly used for pumping stomachs, administering medications, or supplying nutrients to patients who are unable to do so themselves from either trauma, disease, or age.

  • @MindlessKai

My bad.......by definition you are right........since I've performed this procedure thousands of times (in the trachea) I should have known.......

  • @MindlessKai

I guess I've just never heard the the term "intubation" when placing a PEG tube, trach tube, ureteral tube, cholangio drain, chest tube, etc.........seriously, when was the last time you heard the phrase, "we need to intubate your lateral chest cavity to reinflate your lung?

  • what desease does she have?

  • i had this same thing done twice in one day and then had to leave it in for 24 hours and it wasn't bad at all just keep drinking water and it goes down like anything else.

  • nasogastric intubation???????

  • This is a Nasogastric Tube placement not Intubation!

  • if you tell the pt. to lean foward and drink.. it would be a hell of alot easier

    ooooooooooooeeeeeeeeeeeoooooooooo +_+

  • "how do we listen" - wow please dont ever work on me

  • This is not a nasal intubation, it's a nasogastric tube insertion. You should try a nasotracheal intubation.

  • you are absolutely right...I can't even think of a conscious nasotrachial intubation :) it would be hell for the pt.

  • the pain from my open heart surgery was not as painful as that.

  • I've had several NG tubes (severe stomach problems). Drs. can put NG in for suction, drainage, & to check for bleeding. They can put food/meds in or 'PUMP' a stomach and/or put activated charlcol in for susp. poisons. The gagging can be helped by drinking the water given. Yes it is aweful, gagging, drooling, sometimes, vomiting, feeling your head is going to explode, & you feel you are going to expode, but there is usually good reasons for having (usually serious) for needing one.

    milboo

  • Been here done this and yes it sucked ass.

  • C'est l'ecole qui fait sa ou tu est vraiment a l'hopital

  • Have you ever had something down your throat?

It's called a gag REFLEX. It's not for show, it's autonomic!

  • This is what we do to each other in Nursing School. That way we get to experience ALL that the patient does. That's why there are so many people around. We also do lot's of other yucky procedures on each other and ourselves.

  • it was probably done in school...

  • What was it needed for, and why were so many people around.

  • never do i want to go through that again . it was 20 mins of living hell . gosh my heart goes out to thatlady . yuo tear automatically and gag all the way . the tube feels like its cutting your throat from the inside

  • God bless you madam..

it's the worst thing in life:)
