  • what transmission do you have installed. i have a 1999 v6 mustang and I am currently making my own turbo kit and i thought 300 rwhp is pushing it on a 100% stock block. i though they generally make 275 to 290 rwhp and 320 to 340 trq. if you could point me in the right direction as to what i can do to make 350 rwhp and like 400trq on a stock block,

  • @sweettalker456 Well there is nothing special needed to make 350-390rwhp on a 100% stock 3.8l motor, However a 99 motor is now 12+ years old!! Thus if you did not take VERY good care of your motor I would not put boost to it.. First thing I would do is a leak-down test with detail pressure testing of all cylinders.. If your rings are still good your cylinder avg. pressure will be in the high 185psi avg. on all cylinders .. If any one of your cylinder is way off.. I would swap in a 03 or 04 3.8L

  • @sweettalker456 Anyways if all is well with your motor all you need is to build a quality turbo kit, at 10-12psi you’ll be making 310-350rwhp .. Any lower and It’s the kit or the turbo choice or the tune.. having a solid tune is important and can also cause lower rwhp if you don’t have a good tune .. With my first Twin Turbo kit on my 100% stock motor back in 04/05 I make 381rwhp 420rwtq @ 12psi, so the stock motor is very strong but a solid tune is VERY important!!

  • @sweettalker456 As for my tranny .. my stock 4R70W blow at 611whp .. so with only an upgraded Valve Body and stall converter, plus a tanny tune done, the stock tranny supported a ton of power .. it supported my old 520rwhp without any issues.. Now I am running a built 4R70W good to 900whp/tq

  • very impressive shit!

  • @thaandiesel Thank you .. getting a roll bar put in this season so I can run at the tracks again .. hoping for 10.3's with 100% street tune 15-16psi and 10.0 high 9's at 20psi race tune .. next HPMustangs . COM rental is in Oct. this year, I'll have everything ready by then hopefully :)

  • So if a stock v6 mustang is doing 16.1 how much would it take to drop it into the 14? just curious

  • @kryptonek88 why stop at only 14s? 100% stock 99+ 3.8L motor will support 350+whp with a Turbo setup, and at the track you can push it to 390whp.. easy

low 13's .. even 12s with race trim, only think needed is a quality turbo kit .. TMA is the only 3.8l shop I would buy a kit from as his kits are proven to make solid power.. check out the TMA site .. est. $3-4k to run 12's

  • awesome build, trying to do the same with my 95 v6 great job man

  • Thank you .. if you need any help or info.. I am always on HPMustangs, com.

  • @p3medeiros Thanks man..

  • hey bro i love your idea of a v6 twin turbo'd mustang, everyone always says it should have a v8.. but everyone's got the v8. its a good feeling to whoop one when you tell them your only runnin' a 6 cylinder.. i'm planning on the doing the same with my 2000 v6 mustang. I keep askin around at races and stuff, but what all is on your mustang (websites you went through etc..) to get it this way.. i really like this set up. thanks.

  • Thanks .. I have post here what I am done a few times .. best to stop by my home forum .. hpmustangs, com .. and post up in the v6power area .. you'll also find all my project pics and video .. with all the spec on everything .. there is a few ppl now running copies of my setup .. some went with single to same on overall cost.. but all are in the 10's

  • damn thats awsome man, i love what people do to there V6 stangs a great car to mod. next time u at englishtown man send me an email and ill come up and watch ya fi thats cool.

  • no prob.. join my home fourm .. hpmustangs, com .. we have rentals coming up .. also have one at Atco, NJ in a few months .. read about it on the HPM site.. Thanks again..

  • I think he could have done better with a better launch. It almost looks like he gets off the line a second late.

This is pretty cool, people doing something with a v6, which isn't too common.

  • sorry for the video quality, this was taking with someone cell phone.. also this was at 15.4psi soft street tune with 93 pump gas.. back in 2008 @ ETown race way park..

  • it seems like a nice set up but i dont i have a question , how'd you get the f150 crank in a 3.8 block? isnt the f150 a trinton V8? regrind?

  • NO lol .. the F150 is BOTH a v6 and v8 .. they always had two version from day one.. the 4.2L v6 motor in the F150 is the same as the 3.8L motor with only different crank and intakes.. but basically the same motor.. and the Truck guys know how strong that motor is ..
