Ian Curtis was no legend. I do like Joy Division a lot, but musically, their albums weren't nearly as fulfilled as others' from the same era, e.g. Bowie; or even New Order for that matter. I hate how people and bad magazines give Unknown Pleasures five stars because of Curtis' death: even though I will defend that album to my death saying that it was at the origin of something HUGE, they obviously still needed some maturation at the time.
I love JD, but Ian, as seen in the biopic, was no saint.
Ian was a time bomb, same as so many many genius artists, walking the line and going their own way, leaving nothing behind, but so much for us left here...
such a lame ass thing to say,, , suicide had fuck all to do with his songs,, they would have been the same numbers had he survived,, suicide dont make no one special , it just makes you not be here,,, TWAT !!
@deejayneamy idk why you act like it's so surprising ..the band was often accused of being obsessed with neo nazism.. hence what the phrase "joy division" is a reference to.
By the way, on the subject of the movie "Control" ..24 Hour Party People was twice as good a JD/factory flick

I actually heard this song in Hot Topic the other day. It's wonderful to know that at least some people still appreciate Joy Division.

Not to bog everyone down with song interpretation, but would this be about some kind of suicide pledge between two people?
ganyuehan 1 year ago
@ganyuehan actually this whole album was a suicide note. the band didnt realize it until after ian curtis hung himself. pretty sad.

@nikolajdk Well it's still better to put Sam Riley & the rest of the cast on instead of using photos of Justin Bieber or Zac Efron, isn't it???!!
