these things are junk..my job has several different types of cars and have an 08 and 10 aveo..they are absolute garbage...nothing but problems..electronic throttle and throttle body problems in both..plus they hesitate and get alot slower as the mileage accumulates..1 problem after the next..dangerous hesitation at times making left turns ect..constant check engine lights over and over...buy an import or buy a better used car..imao

The Aveo is just a cheap car that will get you from A to B in reasonable comfort, price, and performance. It's GM's way of cutting corners to make bigger profits that cost them future customers. Using a plastic thermostat housing, a bargain basement timing belt, plastic timing pulleys, and cheap, shoddy wiring really took a toll on the Aveo's reputation. If GM just raised the base price by $1,500 and invested that money in each Aveo, it would have taken out any subcompact in America.

The passenger airbag sensors go out, the thermostat plastic housing falls apart, the key will stick in the ignition. I had the car a month and found out that the car had the wrong alternator in it. The car has Daewoo parts. GMAC admits to the problems but will not put out a recall. Before buying or if you are having problems, please check a site that I found. It may help. AllAuto.com

I have an 04 Aveo, and its absolutely amazing...just remember, all cars have their own problems...My personal experience with the aveo is great! I would definately recommend it to any buyer!! =D

I got my 2007 Aveo at the beginning of 2008 with low mileage. it is at 34,000 now and is doing great. I am averaging 37mph on the road. I would make one suggestion though. If you are in a cold climate the car is light on ice and it is advisable to put a big bag of salt or sand in the trunk to give you some weight. The car handles very well in snow.

They just think that American cars suck because that's the idea that they get from Consumer Reports and the public in general. They are too ignorant to accept the idea that a company can change itself.

My best advice is to drive it and form your own opinion, and try not to be like them. If you don't like the Aveo, don't think all GMs suck.

I just got a Chevy Aveo Hatchback 2006 and i love it... great gas mileage, average pickup, nice brakes and fine steering. It may not be a corvette but it's a nice car for the price.

Actually, it gets 5 star front crash test rating. It has standard side airbags, too. I would like to have a stiffer suspension to stop some of the body roll in my hatchback, but otherwise, wonderful car.

Gas mileage, check. Price, check. Safety, check. I think the hatchback looks better though ;)

This car is a deathtrap in crosswinds. Too tall. Too narrow. The wheels on this thing are like 14" and overall look is crap. The hatch might offer something different.

For such a small car, the fuel economy sucks. I have a Metro that will own this thing on Fuel Economy... Hell, it owns Toyota Prius cars that like to speed on the highway.

The advertised MPG is far from reality. This Aveo should be better, but it has a thirsty 1.6L. Too bad the Cooper Mini 9K more than this car.
