Lots of foreigners complaining about Japanese tastes. What sells in Japan obviously won't be as popular/probably be criticized by Westerners as "weird". For all that "tolerance" stuff people are taught in school, they sure are quick to judge, as if American pop culture wasn't considered a bit odd from the outside.

Gosh, what a strange game. I've never seen this before. It's like Blazblue, but appeals to a much smaller, darker, demographic of anime aficionados than I'd care to pinpoint.

The things that take much of the fun out of this game for me be they petty reasons or not is the background shit. It's so distracting. Not because I care about it but because the game isn't full screen and you see it and shit is moving. Plus all the high pitched screaming and yelling from the girls. Solid engine but just hard to be immersed in the game.

@XinKotetsu lol u have no idea about the 2d fighters genre aside from sf and mvc may be. in case u dont know most of the 2d fighters are manga styled/based on real manga. and most of them even started out as doujin games. and u have no idea how big is the manga and 2d fighters market in Asia, not to mention Japan, but may be not in USA cause most of the audience here dont know and/or cant appreciate the manga humors and thats why many fighting games dont come to US since its not lucrative here.

Think Immaterial and Missing Power. Interesting twist on the fighting game concept, decently balanced characters with unique traits and a variety of play styles makes for interesting play at low levels, and intense play at high levels. The problem? It's a fighting game of little girls. How would you market that successfully?

The game play is what counts- for fighting game folks. We see two little girls on a TV screen attacking each other and controlling space and think, "Oh, that looks like an interesting fighting game." People who haven't been exposed to the weird stuff Japan puts out will see two little girls on a TV screen attacking each other and think, "What kind of pervert made that?!"

It's like a hipster indie game. This game? This game is 12 year old anime girls. It's sad, pathetic. Like, 37 year old virgin and still lives with his parents pathetic. Nobody is going to take this game seriously. People that don't play fighters will look at this game and say "What kind of loser plays this shit?!"

@XinKotetsu Have you seen Zenia? Kamui? Clarice? Elsa? None of those are underaged girls, and I personally think Zenia, Clarice, and Scharlachrot are cool as hell.

And honestly, while some characters like Heart, Catherine, and Konoha can be obnoxious, many like Saki, Lieselotte, Petra and Mei-Fang are low-key. If you're really so insecure about playing a character like Saki that you ignore the game's amazing Arcana system and stuff, you should go back to rubbing muscular men together in SF4.

Will it ever get as big as SF4? No. Will it be more enjoyable to people who actually care more about depth and creativity than how recognizable Ryu is? Yeah.
