I am lifted high each time I hear the version of this old hymn. Because of Christ's sacrifice for us we have the opportunity to do so much for Him and as He promised, have life more abundantly.

Isaac Watts father was imprisoned for his faith and he wrote many endearing letters to his son speaking of how Christ was glorified in the midst of the suffering . What impressions that made on this young boy at the time!!! This hymn attests to God's goodness and faithfulness to His people. May the Lord be praised!!

this song speaks so clearly to me as a christian when i survey the wonderous cross i remember what my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ did for me upon the cross and i am so thankful that i have a savior who paid the price for my sins upon the cross i pray that when other people listen to this song that they will drop to their knees and that they will extend their hands out to the one who paid it all for them

@coldbrokelonely What makes you say that?? Jesus has helped me through so many things! When i think of him all i can see is love!! Through all trials and tribulations he is there, and he loves you and died for you even if you are unwilling to believe it. We are learning in youth group at church (Galilee Baptist, Gorham, Maine) that we are capible of doing all kinds of evils but through Jesus Christ and his work on the cross we are saved. If only you knew that joy. I will be praying for you.
