I was so pissed off earlier I was about 5 minutes from buying an xbox when I got my ps3 to restart it had to rebuild the hardrive 3 times before I could finaly get on
I noticed how your were continuously on and off clicking the power button but this is like a freeze your dealing with so when mine froze the manual said hold down power button for 15 seconds and it simply restarts!It does work and it doesn't wipe out the harddrive or anything at all!But don't plug it out!Hold down button for 15 SECONDS ._. lol

Get a laptop fan and set the PS3 on top of it so it won't over heat. All system produce heat but some produce more then other. You just have to know what to do.
3 of my friends have a Slim (not me) and when we play mw2 in split screen they all get's the same fail.... In the first round i got 20 kills and won but when i will see what i got to my sniper there was nothing.... 0 kills.. WTF...

faulty hard drive in ps3, u need 2 replace it then let the system format new hard drive then you need to install the latest version but the only way 2 do this is on the scee official site on pc. download the lateset version software onto a mem stick a 1gb, make sure it is in a a folder catergory ps3, then open a seperate folder inside that and name it UPDATE in capital letters aswell or it will not reconise it, then once youve done that insert mem stick and ps3 should reconise it and install.
did u watch ur dvds on the ps3,were those dvds blu-ray or dvd if it is then ur fucked u cant put dvds on a ps3 , ps3 is only for blu-ray, maybe the system malfunctioned cuz u put a dvd instead of a blu-ray

The new one has worked fine so far with all firmware versions that have been released since the slim.

I think 3.01 broke my ps3 because when i bought modernwarfe 2 it said to update to 3.01 then i do. Give it about 40 min of gameplay my ps3 slim just started freezing then it shut do itself. Then this problem occured.

hey all electronics have a failure rate of some sort... and if it's gonna fail.... be glad that it failed you on the first day when you still have store warranty... when it fails that soon, that just means that it was a faulty system rather than it beeing a design failure altogether

Dude Slims have issues I went through 2. First one was got at bestbuy on August 25th they released it early. It fried my HDMI cable port on the PS3 Slim end it got HOT. My screen flickered and popped and BAM ruined my HDMI cable. I called sony and they didnt believe I had one lol. Gave the serial # they said guess you do. They thought slims may have design flaws and advised me to exchange it I did the other one LOCKED up ALOT
its just the update that made them freeze when i got mine it froze a few times and wat u have to do is just umplug it every time it does and eventually when the software and the cpu get broken into it wont really happen again
Seems a bit random, it was working fine with the update and then it wasn't. Still, my new one is working fine at the moment so fingers crossed this one will be ok.

Oi, I love my 360! It did red ring after 9 months but I'm pretty sure that I self-inflicted that. Since repair I've had no problems with it whatsoever. I still prefer it for gaming but good games are good games, which is why I now have both systems sitting side-by-side in harmony 8-)

wow never heard of the xmb failing hmmmm.... It might be because of the firmware but then again it is not powering up correctly. Hope you have a warrenty for it if not you are under a year warrenty through Sony. I suggest taking it back and exchange it for another one or sending it in to Sony and get it fixed...
I had it less than a month. Took it back to Gamestation, they tested it and couldn't get past the log in screen so they exchanged it for a new one. Apparently I wasn't the only one that had that problem.
I don't know if I'm imagining it but the new one seems to run much cooler, and I haven't had any HDMI 'flickering' (brief, random losses of signal) at all.
Hope my experience is better with this one cos if I lose my saves again I'm giving up!

I think 3.01 broke my ps3 because when i bought modernwarfe 2 it said to update to 3.01 then i do. Give it about 40 min of gameplay my ps3 slim just started freezing then it shut do itself. Then this problem occured.

i have the exact problem as you man but yours show the xmb wave mine just take like 5 min then an error sayong "Cannot Find Hard Disk" im like wtf i just got this system a month ago but i called sony so there sending in a box, oh and i also went to recovery mode and it didnt work. good luck man and what sucks more i bought moderwarfe2 and this happens.

my ps3 had only 2 problems it froze 3 times when i was on the browser and it just over heats and i log in slow on psn but i think thats my router so those are only problem on my ps3 slim other than that it works good

hey all electronics have a failure rate of some sort... and if it's gonna fail.... be glad that it failed you on the first day when you still have store warranty... when it fails that soon, that just means that it was a faulty system rather than it beeing a design failure altogether

So I took the second back to after it wouldnt stop freezing. A week later when more came in stock I bought a THIRD one and the bastard was acting hell of weird so I took it back got a Elite 360 and it froze a lot so I took it back LOL. I just decided to get my motorstorm 80 gig I payed 500 for back outta pawn and writing from it now. The Slims and 360's SUCK. Older PS3's ROCK!

Dude Slims have issues I went through 2. First one was got at bestbuy on August 25th they released it early. It fried my HDMI cable port on the PS3 Slim end it got HOT. My screen flickered and popped and BAM ruined my HDMI cable. I called sony and they didnt believe I had one lol. Gave the serial # they said guess you do. They thought slims may have design flaws and advised me to exchange it I did the other one LOCKED up ALOT

its just the update that made them freeze when i got mine it froze a few times and wat u have to do is just umplug it every time it does and eventually when the software and the cpu get broken into it wont really happen again

Seems a bit random, it was working fine with the update and then it wasn't. Still, my new one is working fine at the moment so fingers crossed this one will be ok.

I hope it works better for you now man. LOL kinda got me scared over here when they told you it happened more then once O_o. So far mine seems to be running ok just hope it stays that way. Anything is better then Xbox though ;)

Oi, I love my 360! It did red ring after 9 months but I'm pretty sure that I self-inflicted that. Since repair I've had no problems with it whatsoever. I still prefer it for gaming but good games are good games, which is why I now have both systems sitting side-by-side in harmony 8-)

Yeah me too but i think it was my fault since i didnt really dust off my room like i do now and ive noticed my Xbox hasnt been as hot as its gotten in a while played from like 10am to 5pm and it still felt alittle cool.

wow never heard of the xmb failing hmmmm.... It might be because of the firmware but then again it is not powering up correctly. Hope you have a warrenty for it if not you are under a year warrenty through Sony. I suggest taking it back and exchange it for another one or sending it in to Sony and get it fixed...

I had it less than a month. Took it back to Gamestation, they tested it and couldn't get past the log in screen so they exchanged it for a new one. Apparently I wasn't the only one that had that problem.
I don't know if I'm imagining it but the new one seems to run much cooler, and I haven't had any HDMI 'flickering' (brief, random losses of signal) at all.
Hope my experience is better with this one cos if I lose my saves again I'm giving up!
