I want one. And I think I'm going to sell my FZ6 and buy one. I'm back to commuting to school and these things are so much fun to ride! I'll get another motorcycle after graduation, likely an adventure touring bike of some kind :)
@wandfreak13 The MSRP GTS 300 is $5999. Note that you can still find some 2009 models with the 250cc engine and big discounts are easy to find on those.
The mileage and price for these Vespas doesn't seem so hot. I think I'd rather just throw that extra cash into upgrading to a prius/insight/leaf etc. I think the lost 5mpg would be worth the safety as well.
I've been using one of these for years as a commuter (I have a XR5650R SM for backroads and a 748S for track duty). For speeding around the city I find it almost a perfect blend of a scooters mobility and a motorcycles performance.
It's also quite, which is an advantage when I want to blast around GG park at 2am without attention. ; )
I bought one of these and have completed 4000 fun filled miles. This style is iconic and it handles and rides really well. Economy is quite good but it performs very well and will do 70mph without a problem. Very fast away from the lights and I really recommend anyone to get one of these 250 GTS.
I had to chuckle at your comment,. being a real man that you are,. If you have 30- 40 -50 k for a motorcycle,. knock yourself out,. your a real man,. Put on your leather chaps and ride,.This is more about affordable transportation, and affordable maintenance ie. gas,. Hey ride your harley,. but dont knock people that are trying to save you and your childrens future. Harleys are nice, but the green in my pocket is nicer
Used sportsters are cheap, and regularly get almost 59 mpg in 883 displacement. Only have to change the oil, which any monkey can do, and you have a basically maintenance free bike.
But I do see where you're coming from with how easy scooters are to own. I considered one before I picked up my sportster, just needed the extra oomph and highway capability.
I've had this scoot for four months and I really love it. I've had fitted the small flyscreen that helps at speed. It's so easy to ride, very forgiving and it's so much fun. Most of the time I have my daughter on the back and we can still do good speeds. Quite expensive to buy but great fun and so economical, it's worth it! Go get one! Rosso Red - the only colour to have!!
Howdydoodie you may have a point, but I think people have negative opinions of scooters or the name itself carries with it a negative image. Anything that can reach 70 mph or better is worthy to ride. It's bound to be fun and it's a 250. The new ninja 250 is a neat bike yet no-one calls that a scooter.

@dick117 You don't buy a Vespa to save money. You buy a Vespa because you want a Vespa.
baldshaun1 4 months ago 2
@dick117 Mileage depends on many factors but I would say that the GTS does easily 65mpg and up.

@ckbreakdancer It's up to you... but if you hit the ground at 70mph, it doesn't really matter if you are riding a vespa or a HD.
